”Are you sure?” is the first clear thought that comes into his head, though his shock is beginning to soften and the corners of his mouth raise into a small smile. He wants to make sure his partner is lacking any doubts about his statement and he would never want Matthew to feel pressured into doing something like that for him if he didn’t want to, then he adds for emphasis: “Completely sure?”

He squeezes Walter’s hand, flashing him a smile. “Still, I s’pose nobody really knows how they’ll feel until it’s under way, right? But I’m sure I want to be a father. I’ve never been more sure of anything. I hope that’s enough.”

     “Would you mind teaching me?”

“See? Just a dodgy sight, is all. You gotta tilt it to your right-hand side a little.”

“Oh! Sure, kid. Take it.” What sort of person would he be if he denied the youngster a little fruit? “You need any help to open it?”
