West Coast here we come || Ava / Jason
Thinking about the consequences of her actions and the repercussions that they could have on her future was just what she did. It was a defense mechanism of sorts. Everything had to be calculated just so, so that in the end she would come out on top and unharmed. When sheâs with Jason things just make sense in their own twisted sort of way and this time itâs no different as her lips are crushed to his. She parts her lips and tastes him and a small sigh escapes her lips. âYouâreâŚa terrible influence,â she said breathing heavily after breaking the kiss to come up for air. âBut I like the way you think,â she smirked before kissing him again.
Jason was done thinking, thinking about the family, thinking about his heart or even thinking about her, right now it was about want, and he wanted to kiss her. Hell he wanted a lot more than to just kiss her but for right now kissing her was more than enough. "I am the worst kind of influence" he agrees knowing there was nothing more to it. It was simple as that, he wasn't good for her, but she was still around. "I like the way you agree.." he states before leaning up on his elbows his body hovering over hers as he deepens the kiss.Â

West Coast here we come || Ava / Jason
She was going to have to start reconsidering visiting bedrooms anywhere with anyone just for the sake of her own sanity. Maybe she needed a life coach. Or a sassy gay friend. Jiminy Cricket perhaps. The trip had seemed like such a great idea at first and now she couldnât think straight. It was dangerous. Not just for her but him as well. They would consider her his weakness and the last thing she wanted was someone else she cared about in more danger than they should be without her assistance. âYou know exactly what Iâm talking about,â she murmured under her breath and glanced at his lips. âOne of us has to think straightâŚâ
Jason shrugs once more his eyes meeting hers. "Why do we need to think straight? What good has that ever gotten us? I mean we are both so rational, we think and we think and we think ourself straight into the ground because that is all you get when you over think things and right now.. Right now I dont want to think at all." he reaches for her waist and pulls her closer crushing his lips to hers no longer caring about anything else.

Friends, friends, friends. She attempted to chant it like a mantra in her head. It was hard to focus though. No, they couldnât. Theyâd worked so hard to get to where they were now without having any complications. âWell when you put it that wayâŚâ she took a deep breath to center her thoughts. She tried to focus on something else; choosing to focus her gaze on a painting in the room directly behind him so she wouldnât have to look at him. âWe canât,â her voice was almost a whisper. âAnd youâre not helping,â she reprimanded him gently.
They were friends. They were good as friends. They worked as friends and being friends meant that he was slowly slipping back out of her life, that she could live perfectly fine without him and if anything happened to him, well she wasn't involved. She was safe. This of course didn't stop him from wanting her, wanting her in more ways than he should, than he ever could have her again. "We can't what Ava..." he mumbles scooting a little closer on the plush sheets. "We can do anything.."

Ava supposed that as far as certain material things went she didnât have much to complain about as a kid. Sheâd had the essentials and a bit more. Taken ballet lessons with well-renowned dancers and had even been sent to etiquette lessons with girls from One. Material things didnât help a child flourish though. Not in the ways that mattered but she had managed just fine on her own thanks to the some of the other adult figures in her life.
She felt her heartbeat quicken and she bit her bottom lip gently. How had she not noticed how close he was to her until now. Moving away would be too obvious. So she opted for staying put. âThis bedâs big enough for a small family,â she said quietly and met his gaze. âOh, is that so?â Her voice was incredulous this time; her laughter ringing throughout the room. âMaybe youâre right but hasnât anyone told you that itâs rude to make assumptions?â
Jason's gaze drops to her lips and he shrugs his shoulder unable to come up with a witty response when she was laying so close, when everything seemed a lot brighter than it had in so long. "I mean I might have heard something about that before but is it so wrong to assume when I know it for a fact.. I mean I know you Ava, you sat down first, offered to a here.. You never do anything you dont want to do and right now, right now babe you want nothing more than to be here with me.."

âMy father wouldnât take me when I was a kid. He sent me to dance camp instead. Told me something about it being a waste of time? And that I would be better off doing something that would help my cultural development. All bullshit of course but I wasnât in a position to argue,â she explained quickly. Ava was so used to keeping most of her past life private that she would forget how she hadnât exactly shared every insignificant detail with him. âNah, I think we can skip Disneyland this time around. Iâll live. Being around adults in cartoon characters costumes has lost its appeal for some odd reason.â
Ava rolled onto her side to face him and propped herself up with one hand which rested on her cheek. âIt wasnât that bad,â she chided gently. âI should probably find another bed to catch my beauty sleep on,â she said after a few seconds of silence that felt much longer than that. Maybe coming into a bedroom and just talking hadnât been such a great idea.Â
"My mom just couldn't afford it..So I guess we are even there" he shrugs. He had never been the type of kid to want such things but it would have been nice to have the option. To have a normal family that could do normal things. But he had never gotten the chance and now.  Now it was a little more than just too late.Â
Jason mirrors her action, his face a little closer to hers than it should be but he didn't really care at the moment. "Why? This bed is big enough for both of us and we both know you don't actually want to go to another room.."Â

Honestly, Ava was surprised that he had stayed away for as long as he did after they got separated though he clearly had gotten caught up with his line of work. With her out of the way there was nothing to stop him from getting the things he wanted. Even if it had been directed towards the wrong thing; his ambition had been something Ava had admired. Until that very ambition had gotten in the way of their happily ever after. Then she had detested anything associated with the family more than she had before.
âHonesty is the best policy! The only way Iâll sugarcoat things for someone is if theyâre a small child I happen to like. Which doesnât even happen all that often.â She smiled sheepishly and sighed. âNo. I opted for Disneyworld when I first realized I had the money to travel.â Ava mulled his suggestions over until she nodded. âSure! Thatâd be great. Donât you want to rest a bit though? I know you werenât a fan of the flight here.â She laid back on the bed with her legs swinging over the edge and stared up at the ceiling. âI mean the beds are soft. Or at least this one is.â
Jason has been driven from the start, driven by the promise of wealth and power and it had taken him this long to realize that at the end of the day none of that was what made him happy, none of that offered any real satisfaction. Losing her hadn't opened his eyes as much as it should have, yet coming back and being around her again was starting to.Â
"Disney world huh? Florida is so humid, I mean the parks are nice but the sun makes everything hard to enjoy" he chuckles shaking his head. "And they have disneyland here if you want to go to that too, " he watches her make herself comfortable and narrows his eyes. What is she playing. Fuck it. He throws himself back rolling over to look at her. "It was pretty terrible. We can rest"

Ava was a lot more understanding than she had been when they had been younger. Or at least she tried to be. Her own stubbornness tended to get her into more sticky situations then she liked to admit. Jason was and would always be her first love and she would always care about him. It was one of those things that were sort of inevitable. Nothing she could do would ever change that. Unless he did something awful to her⌠which she couldnât even begin to fathom. As far as she knew he wouldnât do anything to hurt her. Not now anyway.
âNo? But Iâm fine. Really. We both know that if I wasnât comfortable I would have made that known by now,â she nudged him lightly and grinned. âCome on lighten up, Jason.â Her voice almost sounded lighthearted even to her ears. Ava wrinkled her nose and shook her head before turning her gaze to him. âNot really. No. Itâs never caught my attention. Too much potential for injury, you know? And I seem to have that whole getting injured thing under control,â she joked. âHow about you? What do you like to do while in sunny California.â
Jason wished there was a way to get her out of his life, to keep her safe without having to keep her around but there was simply something about her, it was like she was the sun and he was a planet, drawn to her gravitational pull. It sounded cheesy and stupid but it felt like the only comparison that was strong enough to describe what was going on. Part of him wanted to leave, but you couldn't fight gravity.Â
"Yeah, you have never been the type to sugar coat anything.." he chuckles shaking his head. "Yeah, you need no help getting injured so we should probably leave that there." he laughs shaking his head. At her question he purses his lips thinking. "You have never been here right? We can do the whole tourist thing and go see the big things like the Hollywood sign and the star walk.. I mean I have never done anything that normal while here and it can be fun you know?" he chuckles shrugging one shoulder.

Oh itâs fine even if you meant it that way. Not like itâs something I donât already know.â Ava was well-aware that she didnât know all there was to know about the family but she knew enough. And if she was going to continue to be in his life there wasnât much she could do then just go with it. Nothing she could say or do was going to change the cards the world had dealt them. And if after all this time they somehow ended up being civil and actually amiable then who was she to disagree?
Ava followed him further into the master bedroom and shook her head with an almost confused look on her face. âYou donât owe me anything.â She sat on the edge of the bed and patted the spot next to her. âSit. Relax. Youâre getting so worked up youâre starting to make me nervous,â she smiled at him and turned to look out the window which was facing the sea. âIf I need anything for any reason Iâll let you know. Though at some point I do have to buy a friend a surfboard. I promised.â
Jason was glad for Ava, even now that they weren't together she understood. Understood him and his world and how things around him worked. She understood what this big room meant and she understood how much he hated it all at moments yet could not find the way to leave it or change anything. Instead he tried to find the good in it,  tried to find the diamond in the rough, like being able to take her on this trip.
"I owe you a lot and we both know it" he sighs nodding as she sits down. "I am not worked up, just making sure you are comfortable and what not. Is that so wrong? Honestly" he says taking a deep breath and sitting across from her. "Ok, and do you? That sounds exciting, I am sure we can find plenty of those in Cali, everyone surfs. Do you know how?" he asks tilting his head.

Availia should have let Jason long ago. She should have turned her back on him when he had returned to Panem instead of giving in so easily to his insistence on wanting to talk. She should have found a way to just keep him at bay. Shown indifference of some sort. There were so many things she should have done to avoid getting close to him again in any way, shape or form but she hadnât. If the thought ever crossed her mind she wrote it off as it not being something to worry about because he disappeared so often that it didnât make that much of a difference.
âThanks for the reminder,â she hissed and smacked his arm at his comment. Ava went back to distracting herself with the extravagance of it all; not really wanting to dwell on how all of this was being paid for or what he probably had to do during this trip. The elevator ride went by smoothly and her face lit up upon seeing the room. âItâs beautiful,â she said in quiet awe, walking past him and exploring the room, her hands caressing things as she went. âI love it,â she turned back to look at him with a bright smile. âItâs wonderful, Jason.â
Jason allows for her to take in the splendor of the room and can't help  but remember why he can do this, why he can now give her this expensive trip and what he was to do while here, sure he isnt here to kill anyone or anything of the sort but the family always needed something This time it was just his voice, his face. Or well, at least for now.Â
"Hey I am sorry I didn't mean it in a, oh we are only here because of them sort of way, I just meant, well they really go all out don't they?" he chuckles as he steps into the room, walking into the master bedroom. "I am glad you like it, I was hoping we could have a good time here, I owe you that much if nothing else" he says turning to her slowly. "Do you want to rest? Or we can hit the pool, or if you are hungry we can go find something" he offers not really sure why he is so worked up

West Coast here we come || Ava / Jason
Since they had made their friendship official she had done her best to simply let go of the past. They had both been a lot younger back then and while she didnât think her expectations at the time had been entirely unrealistic in a normal relationship; she knew thatâs exactly what they hadnât been. All things considered they were doing well enough. Or at least thatâs what she thought if she didnât take into account her whole getting shot thing though that didnât involve him in any way shape or form. Â Â Â Â Â Â
Availia had only taken a handful of trips on her own and seem some rather impressive sights but the sight that met her when they arrived at the hotel took her breath away. She looked around at their surroundings while he paid the driver. âA catch?â she said giving him a weary look. âApparently,â she tried to keep her sarcasm at bay while he continued. âOh,â she said relaxing a bit glad that what he was saying wasnât as bad as she thought it would be. âYeah, itâs fine. I think we are more than capable of handling a suite with three beds on our own, no?â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Jason wanted to live in the now. Wanted to let go of all the bad and try this with her, try to be anything to her, and if that was just a friend, well he wanted to be a better friend than he had ever been boyfriend, he was already giving her more and taking less this way so maybe in the end she was better off. Better off without him because without him she had a chance at a real relationship at finding the right person instead of the really wrong one.
He chuckles at her sass shaking his head. "You think so? Well we will just have to wait and see and it could be worse, I mean its just sleeping close by to me. something you have done countless times already. The catch could always be you have to kill someone you know?" he chuckles as he leads her to the lobby. He checks them in collects the keys and then leads her to the elevator pressing their floor. Soon enough the door is open and he takes in the room. "This will do"Â

Ava shook her head with a teasing smile on her lips. âYou could have always brought your assistant along like you were supposed to.â He remembered. As much as she hated to admit it even to herself; it was touching to see that he remembered her talking about travelling. What else did he remember her telling him? There was so much she had shared with him in the early days of their relationship after all. That was all in the past though and now they were in California as friends. Just friends. Friends sometimes traveled together. It was nothing out of the ordinary.
Once outside she adjusted her sunglasses and was glad she had chosen to wear a sundress that day. âIâm ready,â she said squeezing his hand lightly before climbing into the car. It didnât cross her mind that someone might question why his usual assistant wasnât with him. She was just happy to have gotten this chance. Even if it was Jason who was actually making her happy. It had been so long since she had allowed him to do the smallest of favors for her that the feeling felt entirely out of place.
"But she is no where as fun or as entertaining as you are so what was the point of bringing her?" he laughs teasing right back. Truth was that he was more than fine with coming alone, he had traveled alone countless times but this time it was different. It went back to all the things he had promised her while they were together. This had been one of them. Of course he figured she forgot, seeing as how he had made so many promises. Broken almost all of them..
The drive to the hotel was short, but once they finally arrived the location was grand, the hotel clearly top notch. He helps her from the car and pays the driver waiting for him to collect their things and take them in to the lobby. "Ok so here we are but there is a catch. Isn't there always? We are sharing a room. No I dont mean a tiny one one bed room, a suit of course with I think two beds? Maybe three. But it is shared.. Is that ok with you?"Â
