The noble’s gloved hands gently clasp her own, and Anthea smiles gently in response as she deftly changes the subject.
"Of course I consider us friends, Maribelle. You and the rest of the Shepherds are like family to me, and the wellbeing of my family is important to me. If there’s something you want to talk about, I’m here to listen."
"I'm afraid I hadn't realized," Maribelle sighs, truthfully feeling somewhat misty again. "In that case, it wouldn't do to keep a secret on the basis of embarrassment. But I'll be clear right now; I genuinely wasn't crying when you came in!"
She nods and pats Anthea's hand. "I was feeling a hint weepy though, that much is true. The waterworks may very well come if I tell you what I was thinking. Are you sure you wish to brave it?"
