I kept thinking of the similarities between Mulder and Carol -- specifically their trauma and isolation and how there's one person who truly gets them. (And everybody else finds their odd behavior and dogged pursuit of truth extremely off-putting). That got me thinking about one of my favorite quotes from the entire series:
"Scully, you have to believe me. Nobody else on this whole damn planet does or ever will. You're my one in five billion."
It's from the episode "Folie a Deux." Then I went. Huh, I wonder, and looked up the episode and... oh
It's not a coincidence that in the 1x05 investigation scenes--as someone else mentioned here; sorry, I can't find the post rn-- it's like an X Files episode but without Scully. Just one flashlight beam in the darkness, instead of two.
