The Emissary Under the Moons of Bajor is a 2379 painting by Sandro Mari. It is currently housed in the Provincial Temple Museum of the Kendra Province. The painting depicts Benjamin Sisko under the five moons of Bajor.
By 2379, Mari had begun a series of paintings depicting religious subjects, beginning with one of Benjamin Sisko. The painting was completed in the same year, and hung in the Yolja River Temple. It is most notable for being stolen by the terrorist group Bajorans for Independence (BFI) on 2389 and publicly vandalized on a public broadcast sent to the majority of communication signals within Kendra province. The damage to the painting was symbolic, consisting of two cuts at the Starfleet combadge and Starfleet rank insignia depicted in the painting.
The painting was left on the doorstep to the Yolja River Temple three months after the broadcast, after which Mari donated it to the Provincial Temple Museum of the Kendra Province.

Vedek Sandro Mari (2272-2381) was a prolific artist, notable for a series of landscape paintings of the rivers of the Kendra Province. By 2379, he had completed the series and started one depicting religious subjects, beginning with one of the Emissary under the five moons. The decision to surround the Emissary with the five moons and depict him looking upwards suggest the Emissary is on Bajor and among the people. The damage to the painting by members of the Bajoran Independence Movement was minimal, and after being returned Vedek Mari asked for the Kendra Temple Museum to house it, on the condition no efforts would be made to repair the damage. Although sketches were made for other works in the series, The Emissary Under the Moons of Bajor was the only one completed before Vedek Mari's death.
