Thorfinn from Vinland Saga.

It's been a while since I watched Vinland Saga, but man this anime is so good! I remember watching the first season and feeling so devastated about Thorfinn's choices, his obsession with revenge and his incapability of letting things go.

When he finally loses his chance at revenge he loses all purpose and is left with all this emptiness inside him; one of the biggest tragedies was on episode 6 of the first season where we see first hand how Thorfinn's choices affect his life and the lives of others.

Michelanne "Mike" Mazinsky from Mike, Lu, & Og.

Hi everyone! I haven't posted anything here in nearly 3 years, I'm just testing the waters here on tumblr, not that I had a big audience though.

I forgot about tumblr, so I might as well come back with a drawing from a show that time forgot, this time is Mike, Lu, & Og. Does anyone remember this series?

I think Mike was so cute, having a girl stranded on an island with people she doesn't know at all with no technology and no contact with the outside world is such a weird concept, but she was pretty chill about it so that makes her cool.

Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender.

When we see Aang, just how happy he is, how he always jokes and smiles, we tend to forget the big tragedy that happened to him.

Aang is the character who literally lost everything, and it's not only that he lost it, it was taken away from him. Appa, Momo and him where the only things left from the Air Nation. They killed all of his loved ones, they destroyed all the temples in which he grew, everything he ever loved turned to ashes, every thing that he thought he could lose he lost it and he lost even more... and yet even after all that he managed to have a beautiful life, because in the moment he was unfrozen he met the love of his life, Katara, and then he met his new family in his friends like Sokka, Suki, Toph and Zuko, and then he made his own family with three wonderful children, Bumi, Kya and Tenzin.

We lose so many things in life, but we gain so many things in life, every year we lose so much, but every year we gain so much. Losing is a part of life, we lose and we lose, wether a loved one dies, relationships fail, we lose opportunities, and unfair things happen to us, the harsh reality is that life takes a lot away from us, but it is the same life that has given us a lot. For every person that we lose, there are many persons in our lives that we have to meet, for all those failed relationships, there are many other relationships that you never expected to get better and better. Aang was not expecting to lose everything so abruptly, but he neither expected that after losing all that that he would have a beautiful life. We lose a lot in life, but we have so much to gain and we should always move forward and continue living there are so many things waiting for us.

Toph Beifong from Avatar: The Last Airbender

Here we have Team Avatar's at 99% of power, really, I just find it hard to believe now how they managed to survive before without Toph, she was the one who did all the heavy lifting on the team! Even Sokka tells her how happy he was that she joined the team and invented metalbending.

Toph is another interesting character, she voluntarily abandons her life full of luxury's and money in order to become a fugitive with Team Avatar. Her parents where so overprotective of her and thought se was defenceless and fragile because she was blind, and that is so far from the truth. Toph noted that a closed life was a life with no adversity, and without adversity there was no growth and no emotion, she felt so dull and empty in her life, and it was nice to see just how much fun she had when she joined Team Avatar.

Definitely Toph's biggest problem was that she had a hard time accepting help from others, in her own desperations to prove herself that she is independent, because her parents underestimated her whole life; she tended to confuse vulnerability with weakness, it was until she met Iroh that she learnt that the people who want to help us in life they do it not because they underestimate us, but because it's an act of love and care, Toph's development is not focused on become physically stronger and capable, it is focused en how to be vulnerable to others in order to obtain a stronger emotional endurance and creating beautiful friendships. It's even fun to see how she wanted to have her own adventure with Zuko and she starts telling him her problems, we learn over there how she learns to open herself to others, and speaking of Zuko, she provides great emotional support to him when they were watching the play and Zuko felt bad for all the mistakes he made and for how he betrayed his uncle, but Toph was there to give him reassurance, and that was beautiful!

Sokka from Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Usually when people ask me who is my favourite character from TLA, I have a hard time deciding who it is, but almost always my mind tells me that it's Sokka, why? Because he is so fun, smart, cool, brave and he is the leader of the Gaang!

The Leader of the team, without Sokka Team Avatar would not work at all! Because he is always the one who know how to use the best strengths and abilities of every character to the max! He is the one who plans every strategy, he analyses every situation and let's not forget that he was the one who invented the submarines in the universe of Avatar haha.

He is so amazing because in a world where most of the people have amazing powers, Sokka fights along with them and against them even though he has no powers! He and Suki are the ones who had a handicap in battles.

Speaking of Suki, I love how well their relationship got developed on the series, I love how much Sokka grows thanks to Suki, he learns from her on how to be a true warrior, and this helps him a lot when he meets Piandao, Sokka was not always aware of how important he is to the team, and Piandao could see just how creative he was, this same creativity is what helped him win the 100 year war.

I can't talk about Sokka without mentioning the crisis he had when the solstice happened and the crisis he had when that was a big failure, he was afraid of trying to do more plans because he was scared of failing again, but it was thanks to Zuko's advice that he tried again. We are going to fail a lot of times in our lives, that's 100% certain, but failure is important, we should not be afraid of failure, failure helps us grow and makes us wiser to achieve those things we want in our lives.

Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Zuko is the most developed character in the whole series, and he is one of the best developed characters in all history, he is on that list of best developed characters along with Kuzco and Vegeta.

The trajectory of this character is very impressive! He goes from having a life in royalty being a prince, to then be exiled by his own father, then to be a fugitive, then going back to the royalty, then back again to being a fugitive and finally he becomes the Fire Lord, King of the Fire Nation.

He has a devastating backstory, his mother sacrificed her well being in order to save Zuko's life, she was his only support after that his own father scarred his face by burning it and exiled him out of his own home. Because of this Zuko spent a good amount of his life looking for his father's approval, luckily he wasn't alone, he always had Iroh on his side to support him and teach him the good things in life, he stood with him during his exile and also while he was a fugitive and little by little Zuko started to learn what he really needed in life. When he was a fugitive the first time he learnt that he is not the only one who has scars created by the Fire Nation, and he learnt that he shares painful stories with others too, he slowly realises that he should not feel ashamed of his scars.

One tough moment in Zuko's life was when he betrayed Uncle Iroh, he finally got everything he wished for, the approval of his father, his return to the Fire Nation, but when he finally got what he wanted he did not felt happy, he still felt disappointed in life and angry at himself. His betrayal to his uncle was destiny, it was because of that that Zuko stood along his father while he was planning to commit a second genocide, prompting Zuko to tell Aang about Ozai's plans so that Aang could stop him on the day of Sozin's Comet.

In the end, Zuko obtained the humility por everything that happened, the good and the bad, and it was because of this that he was the only one who could restore the honor to the Fire Nation. Everything that happens is part of our destiny. The humiliations and pains that we go through, the mistakes we make, we may lose our way sometimes, but the important thing is to learn from our experiences y find our way back again y fulfil our destiny.

Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Katara is a great character, she is, on most occasions, the heart of the group because she is the one who rallies the group by strengthening their vulnerabilities, she was the one who told Aang to not be so hard on himself when he couldn't learn earth control, she was the one who told Toph that she is beautiful on the inside and on the outside, she always supported Sokka even when he felt he was a failure, and she was the first one to trust Zuko when they both bonded over the death of their mothers.

Katara is the one who is always taking care of others, she cures both physical and emotional injuries, being a healer herself, and she is very strong at combat!

Miguel from Coco.

Coco has got to be one of the best movies of all time, I was 21 years old when it came out and I wanted to cry a lot like a little kid, it shows us the importance of family, music, mexican culture and of course, honoring and remembering the dead.

Miguel is at a conflict on Coco, he is torn between his family and his passion for music, he goes onto a beautiful journey to find his grandfather, the great twist is that Hector was the brilliant genius behind the music and that he always intended to go back to his family, sadly his wife banned music to all her family, until Miguel finally completed the picture and discovered what really happened to Hector. Mamá Coco always remembered Hector and she kept him alive, and it was so beautiful when they both starting to sing "Remember Me" together.

Cruz Ramírez from Cars 3.

When I ask what Cars 3 is about, people often say that it's about Lightning McQueen proving himself that he can still compete; and while that answer is right, I believe Cars 3 is much more than that.

Cars 3 is about opportunities, about failures, about believing in oneself, Cars 3 is also about passing the torch to the next generation, and what passing the torch means and the steps it takes.

On Cars 3 we actually see the process of passing the torch, and that Lightning and Cruz hold the torch together for a while until Cruz can handle it on her own. I love how McQueen is to Cruz just as Doc Hudson was to him, and we actually get to see Smokey and how he trained Doc Hudson and how importany Lightning was to him, as the movie goes on we can see how much Cruz helps lightining on his way, not as a racer but as a car(person) and he helps her believe in herself.

Dory from Finding Nemo & Finding Dory.

I was about 6 years old when Finding Nemo came out, and everytime Dory said something she made me laugh a lot.

I love how Pixar always create amazing characters and shows us how capable they are even though they have a condition that can hinder their lives, in Dory's case it's her short term memory span, but even though she forgets mostly anything, she is crucial in helping Marlin to find Nemo, she is the one whe memorizes the P. Sherman Address, she is the one who talks to the school of fish, she is the one who can speaks cetacean and asks the whale for help, she is the one who actually finds Nemo and gets her reunited with Marlin, and in Finding Dory she finally finds her family!

Jackie Chan from Jackie Chan Adventures.

Who remembers this series? I remember how enthused I was whenever I saw this series when I was a little kid.

Jackie Chan was a freaking worldwide icon back in the day, nowadays he is having a more calm and reserved life, but he is still well know in the world and his legacy would live on forever.

Last year, before I made this drawing, I told myself that I wanted to watch again the Jackie Chan Adventures series, and surprisingly a clip from the season one finale appeared on Better Call Saul! What a fantastic coincidence, it was always my intention to end the Inktober challenge with Jackie Chan.

He was the talk of the class back when I went to school, me and my classmates would talk for hours about how amazing Jackie Chan is, his T.V. series and all his movies, I remember even having all the Burger King toys! I just loved Jackie Chan, and I still do, and I miss seeing him on movies a lot.

Kurama from YuYu Hakusho.

I think Kurama is the coolest character in YuYu Hakusho, I don't know if he is my favourite yet because YuYu Hakusho has so many amazing characters.

But definitely I like Kurama a lot because he is the most mature one, he is always so well grounded and centered, he is calm but he is ruthless when he needs to be. One of his most badass scenes is when he defeats Toguro the Elder and leaves him in his own madness, man that was brutal and badass!

Suki from Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Suki is one of my favourite characters in TLA, and she is so underrated!

When we first see Suki, she only cared about taking care of the island, but later on she decided to expand the protection of the Kyoshi Warriors to other parts of the world, it was because of this great decision that she managed to help Appa when he was in trouble, she sacrificed herself to save Appa and then Azula took her as a prisoner.

Suki is fantastic, I remember when she rescued Toph from drowning, when she makes her amazing stunt at the boiling rock, and then on the comics when she protects Zuko from Ozai's followers.

Even though Suki is very capable all by herself, she still believes that teamwork is better than being alone, she risks her own life just to make sure that her teammates are okay. I also love her tender and girly side, especially when she is with Sokka, she tells him "I am a warrior, but I am also a girl" that's a great phrase to show us that just because you are tough and a warrior, that doesn't mean you have to abandon your tender and girly side, being girly doesn't mean you can't be a warrior, and being a warrior doesn't mean you can't be girly!

Harriet M. Welsch from Harriet the Spy.

Here is an historical character! A character that's been around for decades! Harriet the Spy first hit the world on 1964 on her novel for children, and ever since she's made history!

Harriet has been on people's childhood for many years, but what I find very scary is that people are forgetting her! Even I forgot about her, if it wasn't for the new AppleTV+ series made by the Jim Henson Company I wouldn't remembered her.

Harriet is yet another character that I love because she aspires to be a writer, just like I also aspire to be. So in the series she learns what it is to be a spy, she is always there looking for stories, looking to tell the truth without being afraid, she teaches us that at every given moment we are making history! there is history occurring in every single place, even in places we never imagined! From the moment you wake up and get out of bed you are making history, every scar, stain, and rip on your jacket has a story behind it! There is a story behind every little detail, behind every scar, every tear, and every experience, we are all part of history since the moment we are born, we are part of history even before our birth! Because there is a story on how our mom and dad met! And there is even a story behind our very own name!

I love also how the series shows us that every failure we have in life is also a story, and that every time that we stop moving and pursuing what we love, that means that we are pausing our big story!

Taeko Okajima from Only Yesterday.

The one on the left is Taeko on at her 27 years, the one on the right is Taeko when she was 10 years old.

This is an underrated Ghibli movie, I feel like nobody ever talks about it! But I am changing that!

Taeko is a woman who is 27 years old, she has never lived outside of Tokyo, she has a decent job at a company, one day she decides that she wants to take some days off to finally go out of the city for once, she goes to a small town where she stays on a farm with a family, throughout the movie she recalls many things she lived back when she was 10 years old, and how the things she experienced back then still have an impact later on her life.

The segments of the movie where she is 10 years old are actually very interesting, especially seeing them on contrast with her 27 year old self. Usually we underestimate the opinion of kids, I don't know why we so quickly disregard their opinions, I don't know why are we so harsh on kids, when we were kids we used to believe that adults have all the answers, but as we grow up we feel as lost as we did back when we were little.

Orla O' Reilly from Mamo by Sas Milledge.

Orla is one of the two main protagonists of the book Mamo, she is a witch who is a little serious but very kind and she does seems to open up to her friend Joanna, her grandma "Mamo" is the deceased titular character of the comic book, and Orla has to go around her hometown burying her grandmother's remains in order to prevent her hometown from falling apart due to a course.

Sas Milledge does a really great job in talking about many types of relationships with our families, with nature and with friends, and it explains each and everyone of them using magic, I love the use of magic in this book, I never thought that magic could be in everything we do! There is magic in helping others, and there is magic in letting others help you too, there is magic in travelling the world and there is also magic in finding a home and staying there your whole life.
