Objectively, I don’t think they will, but even if they do…I don’t particularly care. Surpass how? EXO has nothing to prove to anyone anymore, they have already set and accomplished so many never seen before feats and records in the korean industry with their massive fandom power and insane physicals. They have already gone down in history as legends with the records they’ve broken after DECADES of no one coming to close what they achieved, especially in this age of digitals.

Popularity will inevitably fade away, it happens with every group in time as fresh, younger groups capture fans’ hearts. Suju, Shinee, TVXQ, 2PM, Beast etc for example have passed the trendy idol stage, some people could try and say that newer groups like bts etc are more relevant or have surpassed them in popularity, but we all know that to say that would be ridiculous. Because these groups are already well established, already have a stable fandom that will support them no matter what and aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Don’t underestimate the love of fans for these boys. Just look at Sechs Kies and how long their fans have waited for them to this day.

By the time EXO’s popularity does wane a little, as members go to the army, they start focusing on Japan, and SM starts pushing newer groups out more, and another group is cosidered to “surpass” them, I am confident that by that time EXO won’t blink an eye. By that time they’ll probably have established their solo careers and subunits and will be making more money from tours and their work then they’ve ever made before.

BUT don’t look down on EXO too much right now, Remember that NO ONE has yet broken their records and out of this world sales, no other group has yet to stand on a GLOBAL STAGE alongside worldwide renowned artists with their first week sales alone. Remember that as a boy group praised for their physicals, they also have FOUR hit songs with more than 1 Million downloads and another national hit with over 2 million. Remember that they are the ONLY group from the third generation that are able to stand on the same page as legendary seniors such as Big Bang and SNSD with their own unrivaled achievements in their own field, the ONLY 3rd generation group to have received daesangs, not to mention that they currently are #1 with the most number of group daesangs (12 in total) after only four years. That isn’t something to be scoffed at or easily forgotten. Remember that EXO is the first in 16 years to become triple million sellers and remember that they have constantly worked hard and shown what they’re made of. They won’t be shaken that easily, not when they’ve already earned a place in history.
