As teenagers/young adults, Cyan and Lin Ling often goes without breakfast so they can save on time, which is a big nono to Asian Dad Ghostblade. If he knows, he'll immediate pause their trainings, goes to the kitchen, and brings back out some amazing food.

Lin Ling often eats them, but not all (he gave the rest to Cyan and Loli) because he felt bad for having received help from a senior. After spying this, Picture 2 happens, where Ghostblade forces Lin Ling to finish his food, or Ghostblade will make Lin Ling finish his food.

Afterwards, Lin Ling always finish his senior's food right upfront lol.

And yeah, Loli's in the other side of the kitchen, so she's not in the pic lol XD

After Miss J did some research, and the best hero with similar skill sets a “Commoner” could easily reach is… beyblades sword-skilled Ghostblade.

But isn’t Ghostblade is in Might Glory, Treeman’s rival because of their E-soul history? Well, yeah, Ghostblade is basically their 9-7 worker/hitman. But, he does his job as it’s the only thing that he could do to not land in jail for his blood-stained past (and headcanon maybe more as a promise to his wife). He’s technically in Top 4 because he is canonically handsome looks & fame as an urban legend. I headcanon that it is because of a villain that survived from Ghostblade’s mission that caused his wife’s death & daughter’s death/estrangement.

So, Ghostblade is a depressed man in his 40s, misses his wife, and does not care about being a “hero” or his companies’ promotions at all. Therefore, Lin Ling, as the sunshine that he is, could definitely show warmth and light hope to this cold beach once more.

==Dynamics: Lin Ling would be the excited and dutiful apprentice while Ghostblade be the cold but caring mentor, who talks with knives (sometimes literally) but will give you water after exercise and food & snacks every meeting like a concerned grandma (arghhh, I miss Lego Monkey Kid vibes).

Also, I betcha that he would Love to take Loli, Cyan (teens), and maybe even Queen (young adult?) under his wings because they remind him of his daughter, urhurhur~. There, a found family!! (*cough* Until tbhx reality-trauma hits that is *cough*, but we can hope~)

** Remember, what I just said was all purely headcanon, but if we draw/write fics enough, who knows, Li Haoling may just add this in season 2!!!

First introduced in the last page of Chapter 3, Hakuba is a newly hired member of the same company as the MC (Hiromi Sakura). At first impression, she is very observant and seems very competent than the other newly hireds, e.g. she helped her coworkers, both newly-hired and even her senpai without them asking. However, this job is merely an undercover: she’s actually an elite guardian of the Magical Waltz People, called “The White Knight”.

As a girl, her hair is some shade of blonde (inferred that her Waltz form in Volume 2 cover).

As a Waltz, she is able to transform between female and male forms at a pull of her shirt-collar. 

In her Magical guy form, she assumes a princely attire, and assumes a regal way of talking. By the Magical person, or Waltz power, she is also capable of super human strength, such as jumping and landing from the cloud-level to another building.

Her magical element is Light, and she is able to turn flowers, herself, and others invisible. She’s also able to make light-based clones to distract enemies, which is useful in her rescue of Sakura during their first encounter at the end of Volume 1.

Like her past, her Magical Lifebox (the literal “heart” of a Waltz) is unknown, never shown nor talked about in the manga.

Due to the restrictions of being a Waltz, she had “died” and resurrected once in the past. Her first contact with the magical world is thus unknown.

Personality:

Hakuba is a patient and agreeable person, with extreme professionalism. She knows how to talk her way around social cues, like flattering and helping others at her workplace in order to blend in and enjoy a low-profile title.

She is highly socially intelligent and observant. She knows when to come help Shibata fix the broken printer in time (true), deducting that Sakura power is shooting heart-shaped laser beams (true), and knew how becoming a Waltz works by mere deduction and thought that “everyone would know it”. 

However, one gets to know her, she can be quite sassy and bold, once doing a Kabedon to Sakura for almost blowing their cover. She enjoys throwing occasional sarcastic remarks.

She is also seen to be very protective of others, putting her own well-being in harm's way in order to protect those important to her, such as her senior Ushizawa. Whether this act is overtly self-sacrificial (like Atsushi from BSD) or an urgent situational action is unknown as the manga’s content was too short for further comparison.

She is practical: she WILL use all her “assets” to her advantage, including the fact that she’s good-looking in all genders, and she knows it. She used her guy form to pose as some kind of actor in a limousine in order to “distract” the students away from the school so the others can search for the villain. From the Omake, she sometimes transforms to her guy form when she’s not wearing makeup to go eat ramen.

She can be also slightly narcissistic or highly self-confident, because of the point above.

Nagisa-chan - Her female coworkers

Hakuba-san - Sakura [early in volume 2, and prob. to the end of ]

The White Knight - a Magic cop

Senpai - Sakura [midway of volume 2, after discovering that Hakuba is the White Knight]

Cosplay Prince (mockingly) - Sakura [later in early of Volume 3, after a training arc that made them much closer]

Some things that can be interpreted:

She is kind of short, in both her female and male forms. This is by close analysis of manga panels and real world objects. Refer to this post for the analysis.

She can be extremely adaptive, as she is also shown to carrying a meeting for another coworker who came late.

She had shown to become catatonic when sudden plans changes, such as when her cover as a normal coworker girl was blown by herself because Yuzuru eavesdropped her from a locker. However, this could be argued that it was for comedic effect. Another time is that while Yuzuru was held captive by a villain, she is shown to not make any move except for telling Sakura to transform.

Is good with children, seen by buying Misaki ice cream at the last Omake comic in Volume 3. She’s also undercover at the school as a teacher. 

Hakuba may know some martial arts, seeing that her first reaction of being “kidnapped” by strangers (from her POV) was to kick first, ask later. [Fight > Flight here]

However, it could be alluded to that she does not fight often, and is mostly on recon or rescue missions, as in early volume 2 after cutting off a monster’s hand and carrying Sakura to safety, Hakuba could no longer fight and her escape only relies on distraction with light clones and running away.

Hakuba as the White Knight insists Sakura on calling her “senpai”, so it is unknown which pronoun she prefers in her magical guy form. Though the calling “senpai” could either be a) nonbinary feeling of not fitting female pronouns with the guy body but feeling weird hearing male pronouns or b) because Hakuba is a newbie/Kouhai in her citizen life, so wants to be admired as a “senpai” too.

She probably have a very close relationship with the Seer Witch and Magic Cops, as their interactions seems like long-time coworker/partners. She is also seen merely annoyed at Magic Cops raiding her home to take a nap, and later naps with them on their animal forms.

She is likely inspired by similar haired blonde sailor moon with a similar name: “Haruka Tenou (Sailor Uranus)” from Sailor Moon, or another heartthrob blonde “Tamaki Suoh”.

My headcanon (and evidence if possible):

She’s half Japanese-French, with her blonde hair from her French father and her stature and beauty from her Japanese mother. This is because it is likely that her design was inspired by Tamaki Suoh from Ouran Host Club (who has her exact hairstyle but flipped), who is also half Japanese-French, but with parents’ bloodlines vice versa.

Likes:

Ramen - She sometimes transforms into her guy form to eat ramen, so she can go unnoticed by her coworkers and didn’t need to wear makeup.

Fluffy animals - She is seen tolerating Magic Cops raiding her home and naps on their “fwuffy” animal forms.

Finishing work early - she is annoyed at having to train Sakura to be a new Magical girl

Being called “senpai” - she stated this meeting Sakura as the White Knight. It is likely because she is wants admiration.

Attention - she seemed to enjoy being flocked by high school girls in halfway of volume 3 while distracting the students by posing as some kind of actor.

Dislikes:

[Note: I had a hard time finding this because her face is as stoic as a cat, and her actions are mostly “normal” reactions to things around her (For example, one would be annoyed if one receives extra work outside of worktime), so this section is mostly fan thoughts]

Attention: It could be said that her desire to keep quiet could be as a part of her undercover, but I believe that she partly is lazy and enjoys a peaceful life, such as enjoying a nap on Magic Cop’s fluffiness [though can also add on from tiredness of work]. The biggest evidence is that in Mahou Shoujo Jihen, magic represents who you are: Fiery love for Sakura because of his brash kindness, Water for Yuzuru because he is Sakura’s foil & quite adaptive to the strict ways of his father, but also nurturing towards those close to him like Sakura. So for Hakuba with Light-based ability to become invisible, she might have either self-esteem issues due to societal’s pressure on her or a desire for a comfy, quiet life, or both.

Extra work: Because she looks so doneTM having to take care of Sakura during his magical girl training.

Unprofessional people & unexpected plans [due to her perfectionism]: Due to her high competency (intelligence, observance, and social skills), she have shown annoyance when people could not get “simple” things done (the many, many sighing at Sakura’s mistakes during magical girl training; and there was a moment of catatonic after her normal-girl cover was blown). This does not count when things outside one’s control goes wrong, such as Shibata (a fellow newly hired)’s broken printer.

3rd design: Greyscale -> Color

It is cannon that Sakura (right person with glasses) is associated with red, and has a red tie. Using the same logic, Hakuba’s tie is whiter, probably the same shade as his hair. SO, his tie is probably yellow.

Thus: Final design =  Blonde with navy suit + yellow tie + very light blue shirt

I headcannon if they could meet, they would immediately fight, talk no jutsu, then bond fight extreme sporting together.

They may give off the same vibe, their MBTI are even 1 letter away from each other, but they’re totally different!

Xiao is ISTJ while Kinich is ISTP. So like, even though you know you can come to them when you want your problems solved, Xiao would be more of the bubbly tofu you can rest next to while Kinich is a zap of energy that’ll take you to places, uwu.
