✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
What was meant to be a simple stop at the island to resupply turned into the whole crew enjoying the spring festival. Everything felt alive in a way you’d never experienced before. It was spring in its purest form– a celebration of rebirth, of growth, of all things vibrant. Garlands of wisteria and roses dangled from wooden archways, while flower petals were scattered across cobblestone streets like confetti. The air carried the sweet scent of blooms alongside the aroma of fresh produce and baked goods.
You were weaving through the crowds, eyes wide as you took in the sights. Stalls lined the streets, overflowing with the bounty of the season: plump berries, golden honey jars, bundles of lavender, and baskets of wildflowers in every hue imaginable. Music danced in the air, accompanied by the laughter of children darting between festival-goers with paper kites trailing behind them. The world felt impossibly bright, as though the island itself was the living embodiment of spring.
“Don’t wander too far,” Law’s voice called behind you, his voice tinged with exasperation at the sight of the growing distance between you two.
You turned to find him trailing after you, hands shoved into his coat pockets with a look on his face that you couldn’t quite pinpoint. He was out of place in the best way possible. He was dressed in black and white, a stark contrast to the riot of color surrounding him.
“I’m not wandering,” you replied, a grin spreading across your face as you adjusted the flower crown perched atop your head. It had been a gift from an elderly vendor who had insisted that you looked ‘too bare without one.’
“You’re definitely wandering,” he countered, though there was no bite in his words. He sighed, quickening his pace to close the gap and keep you within arm’s reach.
You strolled through the festival, your pace meandering as you explored every nook and cranny. You couldn’t resist stopping at nearly every stall as your curiosity pulled you from one vibrant display to the next. At one, you marveled at delicate glass vases shaped like tulips. At another, you sampled candied violets, offering one to Law, who accepted with a remark about how you’d surely get a stomach ache before the day was over.
And he always stayed close, his presence grounding you as you flitted from one delight to the next. His gaze would always find its way back to you as he noticed the way your eyes lit up at a bouquet of tulips, the way your laugh mingled with the melody of a street performer’s fiddle. He found himself watching you more than paying attention to the festival itself, drawn to the way you seemed to breathe life into the vibrant surroundings.
As the sun dipped lower in the sky, golden hues scattered among the thinning crowd. The energy shifted into something less chaotic and more serene, more intimate. Lanterns were lit, their flickering lights casting a glow over the stalls and illuminating the petals strewn across the ground.
You stopped in front of a field right at the festival's edge, where tulips stretched as far as the eye could see, swaying gently in the evening breeze. “Look at that,” you murmured, voice barely above a whisper as you stepped toward the sea of blooms.
Law hesitated for just a moment before following, his footsteps crunching softly against the grass. The field stretched on endlessly, vibrant tulips as far as the eye could see. The flowers rippled in waves as the breeze brushed through their petals, their gentle sway mesmerizing. The wonder in your chest burst forth with each step forward.
You were off, weaving carefully through the blooms, your arms spread wide as if to embrace the beauty around you. A laugh bubbled up as you twirled through the field. The setting sun painted your skin in golden hues, and just for a moment, you were no more than a part of the landscape, a figure of joy among the flowers.
Law lingered a few steps behind, his hands tucked into his coat pockets as he watched you with a smile he didn’t fight back. His gaze trailed your every movement: the way your eyes sparkled with uninhibited delight, how your laughter filled the air. You seemed more alive than he had ever seen, as though the festival breathed vitality into you.
“Come on!” you called out to him, waving with uncontainable enthusiasm. “You have to try this!”
Law shook his head, saying, “Tch. No, with a wave of his hand. “You seem to be having enough fun for the both of us.”
You placed your hands on your hips as you countered with “You’re no fun, you know that?”
“That’s the point.”
But the glimmer in your eyes showed you weren’t giving up. You tapped your chin in faux contemplation before a grin spread across your lips. Without another word, you darted toward him and, before he could react, snatched his treasured hat from his head.
“Oi!” Law barked with irritation, his hand shooting up to where his hat had been. “Give that back.”
“Come and get it!” you teased, clutching the hat to your chest as you took a step back. Then, with a laugh, you turned on your heel and sprinted deeper into the field.
Law’s sigh was audible even over your laughter, but he was already moving. His longer legs closed the gap faster than you’d anticipated, and you glanced over your shoulder, heart racing as he gained on you.
You looked forward, and just as you were coming up with a plan to outrun him, you heard a not-so-subtle Room and Shambles. Suddenly, you collided with something solid, gasping as you stumbled back, realizing too late that Law teleported directly in front of you.
You stared up at him, wide-eyed and breathless as your chest pressed lightly against his. His arms shot out to steady you, and he took full advantage of your surprise as he reached for his hat. But you weren’t ready to give up so early. Twisting away, you managed to keep the hat just out of his reach.
“Oh no, you don't,” you said, grinning. Your mind raced for an idea, and then it hit you. You pulled the flower crown from your head and plopped it onto his with a triumphant laugh.
“There!” you declared as you took a step back to admire your handiwork. “Now you look even better.”
Law froze, his hands hovering mid-air where they’d been reaching for his hat. He straightened, his fingers brushing against the delicate petals of the flower crown now adorning his head. His lips parted, and it looked like he wanted to protest, but he couldn’t quite find the words.
You tilted your head, your smile softening. “See? It suits you,” you teased, your voice gentler now. “Makes you look a little less intimidating. Maybe even… charming?”
“Charming?” he echoed, tone skeptical, though you could absolutely see the faintest of pink dusting his cheeks.
You giggled, the sound light and unguarded. “Yes, charming. You should wear flowers more often.”
Law huffed, shaking his head slightly, the flower crown still perched slightly askew atop it. But as you laughed, one of the delicate blooms detached itself from the crown, drifting down like a feather until it landed on the grass between you.
Law noticed it first.
He crouched, picked up the fallen bloom, and stood again as if it mattered more than it should’ve. Golden eyes flicked between the bloom and you- quick, searching- before he stepped closer.
“It lost a piece,” he murmured.
He lifted his hand, careful in a way that didn’t match the exasperation he’d been wearing all day. The petals brushed your hairline as he tucked the bloom behind your ear. His knuckles grazed your temple, then didn’t move away.
You went still, breath caught somewhere too high in your throat.
His fingers drifted slowly, from your ear to your jaw, and he held you there with barely any pressure at all as if he was testing whether you’d bolt.
You didn't.
Golden eyes met yours, and for a moment, neither of you dared move an inch. You found yourself lost in his gaze, the intensity of it all stealing all the air from your lungs. His pupils dilated slightly, and you could see every fleck of amber in his irises and every faint line etched into his face under the setting sun. Your own features must have mirrored something similar, surprise, anticipation, maybe even hope, because his lips parted as though he was about to say something, but couldn't form the words.
And then slowly, almost hesitantly, he leaned in. He gave you every chance to pull away. But you didn't. You couldn't. Instead, you found yourself leaning into him, the space between you vanishing by the second.
The first brush of his lips against yours was nothing more than a peck. A tentative connection to test the waters. He pulled back just enough to search your own eyes, seeking confirmation that this was okay. That you wanted this as much as he did.
You did.
Closing the distance again, his lips pressed more firmly against yours this time, the kiss deepening like a slowly growing fire. His hand on your jaw tilted your face up, guiding you into the kiss with a gentleness that was at odds with the man you knew him to be. His other hand ghosted over your side, fingertips grazing as if they didn't know what to do, before resting lightly on your waist.
Heat rushed up to your face, your heart beating so loudly you were sure he could hear it. But as much as your mind reeled, you couldn’t focus on anything but the warmth of his mouth, the way his lips moved against yours in a way that felt impossibly natural.
And when he finally broke the kiss, his forehead rested against yours for a brief moment, both of you breathing heavily. His thumb brushed over your jaw, and just as your frazzled mind started to process what had just happened, his lips were on yours once again.
He was less hesitant this time and more consumed, as though he couldn't bear to let the moment slip away. You almost dropped the forgotten hat in your hand as he leaned closer to press his body against yours, but that was neither of your concerns. You felt his fingers curl slightly at your waist as your free hand moved to rest against his chest. His heart was beating just as fast as yours beneath your palm.
When he finally pulled away a second time, his gaze met yours, and if you looked closely, you could see the faintest of flush creeping up his neck, reaching the tips of his ears. For his attempts at keeping a calm composure, you could tell this moment had shaken him just as much as it had you.
Neither of you wanted to break the silence. Law reached up and peeled the flower crown off his head, perching it right back onto yours. In tandem, you perched that spotted hat of his right back atop his raven hair.
“You look good with flowers,” he murmured, breaking the silence.
You laughed softly, the sound breathless as you tried to collect yourself. “You’re one to talk,” you teased, plucking the stray flower from behind your ear and gently placing it behind his.
A smile broke across his face, small but genuine, and the sight of it made your chest ache in the best possible way.

Im back!! kinda!! very slowly coming back!! School and life update below the cut off but tumblr updates rn!! So, I have gotten to a point where I feel confident enough to. be able to carve out a chunk of my time every week to dedicate to writing. I havent been back in the proverbial saddle for a while so forgive me if things are dog shit at first but yeah!!! I am ripping off my stupid bandaid and im editing a fic i have in my drafts and im gonna post it either tomorrow or wednesday. I may just run through my old drafts in the meantime to get back into the groove of things, and then ill start working on new things. But I do really want to do a piece with law and hearts and all that since im in cardio right now so its all very very veryyyyy relevant but yeah!! hopefully i'll be around more!
OKAY LIFE/SCHOOL UPDATES
I'm 1/8 a doctor now!!! We've done infectious disease, Hematology, Oncology, Dermatology, and now we are in Cardiology. I have trauma bonded with so many people and have a lot of new friends!! I'm heavy into research right now- I am doing stroke intervention research along with fertility research, and my partner is going to be presenting our fertility research at our school's research fair, while I am going to be presenting my stroke intervention research. Some stuff is rough, yeah, like embryology and pharm. fuck embryology, me and my homies hate embryology. BUT YEAH!! overall, having a really good time and im glad to be where i am no matter how stressful it can get. Tomorrow we have an emergency simulation scenario and I have a feeling its going to be some sort of myocardial infarction or even a dissection of sorts, or a hypertensive emergency, but we'll see!
My to do list for the rest of the day includes:
- Do my second pass of the content on hypertensive vascular disease, arteriosclerosis/atherosclerosis, aneurysms and dissections, vasculitis, vascular tumors and interventions
- Finish my conflicts in one of my research
- Edit the fic
The majority of my time is gonna be on that second pass but yeah! crammed day! i want to one day do a "Day in the life of" where i go through and document my day ive had that drafted so many times and deleted so many times lol but i really wanna do that one day!!
anyways thank you for listening to my rambles and even if you didnt thank you tumblr dot com for being a space for me to just yap into the void

I have no set plans for anything here now that I’m in medical school! First plan on my list is to survive medical school, anything else that happens on here or other platforms will happen when it happens!
