Cats. Clothes. Crazy Hair.

I planned this outfit to wear yesterday because I didn’t want to have to think too hard in the morning when getting ready for work. Nicola was one of the first lookbooks I ever booked on Indyx, and she remains the most FASHION of the stylists I’ve tried. She suggested two ways to wear the cardigan, one just worn and one tied about the waist for the additional texture element, but I couldn’t make that work without destroying the silhouette entirely - I’m just not there yet in my styling journey, still figuring things out.

As you can see, Nimbus approves the final look with the cardigan worn under the blazer for just a hint of lacy texture peeking out. I went with the sandals because the gold loafers are heavy and need socks, which I just wasn’t feeling today (it’s been very rainy and muggy this last month, and my feet get sweaty - thanks medication!).

Blazer is a Poshmark find from the great haul of 2023. I bought it after getting typed as a light spring with coral featuring as one of my best colours. Seldom worn but very loved, I’m more comfortable styling it now. Knit vneck top was from Amazon, surprisingly good quality. Leopard skirt is from Suzy Shier, non scale victory I had to get this one tailored because the XL was too loose around the waist ❤️ Cardigan is Simons Twix line, very cute and stylish. Jewelry is thrifted except the watch strap which I got from Lemon Straps. The bag is too small to be practical so if I go anywhere today, I’ll probably grab the brown longchamp or cream Cuyana double loop bag.

Overall this outfit has everything I love - some boldness, some earthiness, and enough structure that I don’t feel drowned in fabric. I love leopard print (it IS a neutral) with bright colours and the play of textures and patterns makes me happy.

Lazy Sunday, doing some work from home today and not going out into the rain.

I found this jacket on Poshmark when I was searching for a cropped black blazer and had to have it. I never did end up finding a good black blazer, but I can’t complain - this jacket is gorgeous- I love the pops of red I’m pulling through with my accessories.

Skirt is new this spring, Suzy Shier - I love a tiered maxi skirt, I own another in chambray. It’s perfect for a relaxed day and so comfortable. The shirt is from Life Is Good, featuring another pop of red in the wine glass about to be spilled. I went back and forth between my cream sneakers and the cognac ones, ultimately went with cognac because I wanted to bring the brown tone in from the jacket. Jewelry is mostly thrifted, except the coral necklace which used to belong to my late MIL.

I had a rough morning and almost threw on jeans and tshirt to call it done, but then I decided I wanted to feel good about my outfit. Elliot’s Lookbook came through for me, I’m just in love with this silhouette and think it’s very flattering on my body. The scarf is a fun detail that I don’t usually incorporate, but this one is thin enough that it doesn’t add too much volume to my chest and just serves as a nice accent.

Skirt’s from Laura - I’ve had it forever, it’s comfortable and has a nice flow. I love a tiered maxi skirt. Everything else (except the Cuyana bag) is from Poshmark. DKNY shell is a new favourite. The soft color palette is elevated and it has a nice shape when it’s tucked. The pink jewel embellished satin slip ons are both pretty and fun. The belt only now fits me, it was supposed to be an extra large but it was too small for me when I first got it. I’m glad I hung on to it.

Another Sophie look today - I’m on the fence about the fit of the blazer, but I absolutely love the green drapey shirt and leopard print skirt combo.

Reformation linen pants, old navy fitted tee, Ecco sneakers, some chunky good earrings, and my cuyana tote. I think these were all bought new.

I have about 10 minutes to decide if I’m going in the office or not, strongly leaning towards not.

No makeup today, just not feeling it right now.

This is an outfit combo inspired by a redditor who helped style me on Indyx. Her original outfit used my winter coat and long button down, with the cat tank as a secondary option. I love how the spots on the tee play off the leopard print!

To make it more appropriate for a rainy spring Sunday I swapped out the winter coat for a cropped stone Uniqlo trench and my Ariat cowboy boots instead of the loafers. I added a belt to help define my waist and a couple more pieces of jewelry. Overall I really like this look and these barrel leg leopard print pants are becoming a weekend staple for me.

7 Years With Gnocchi

Yesterday marked seven years since we brought a shy little orange cat home from a rescue. I fell in love with him immediately because he had the sweetest little face. He hid for a couple of days while he was getting comfortable in his new home, but his real personality and sweetness starting emerging almost immediately - he loves pets, praise, belly rubs, being picked up and held like a baby (hence the nickname Baby Man), and nuggets.

My favourite memories of him are the time we tried to give him some sushi and he refused it, only to steal it off the plate a few seconds later and run away absolutely convinced he’d gotten one over on us. That’s when we figured out he loves crime too. (For his gotcha day we ordered him some salmon belly and let him steal a piece - he loved it). We have a cat wheel and he’s the one who uses it, usually at night (other nickname: Night Runner) but he will absolutely run for praise and treats, making eye contact the whole time you’re telling him what a good boy he is.

He has the gentlest, most tolerant disposition. You can snuggle this man endlessly and he never uses claws or teeth, he’s so patient and loving. He’s got a soft purr, it’s really quiet but his whole body vibrates when he’s happy. When he’s really happy, his tail puffs up and it’s just the cutest thing. When he’s demands nuggets, he trills like a laser and it sounds hilarious when he runs while screaming.

The outfit was styled by my sister and I absolutely love it. This base is so pretty and versatile, I can see it working with so many different shoe/jacket/bag combos. I could absolutely wear this to the office!

I’ve had the skirt for years - it’s from torrid and fun fact: I wore it to my wedding (we had a very small, laid back, untraditional ceremony). The shell is new to me, another great Poshmark find, I love the texture detail on the front and the colour works with so many of my clothes it could easily become a workhorse. Bag is my Cuyana tote, purchased in April because I needed a bigger everyday work bag - I love its elegant simplicity and the neutral stone colour is very versatile. Shoes are another Poshmark find from 2023 and are about my max for heel height - they’re Clark’s so very comfortable and the pink band / buckle detail also works with a lot of different outfits. I don’t remember where I got the stretchy gold belt - I think either Amazon or Etsy?

Socially styled by Reddit again - I asked for ideas for my teal fluevogs and they delivered. I found this teal duster on Poshmark after I bought the shoes, so I had to wait until it arrived to actually try this outfit out. I really like how well it matches the shoes and the graphic tee and olive trousers dress it down perfectly. I will definitely try a more elevated look with the shoe/jacket combo but for a WFH Friday with some errands to run later, this is perfect.

My boys are extra cute this morning. Nimbus is king of the cat tree and Gnocchi is just a big sweetie.

I bought this skirt on Sophie’s recommendation from Indyx. She linked an ASOS circle skirt but it wasn’t in my size. Was able to find this one on Etsy and had it custom made to my measurements.

This outfit is super cute and feminine - I like this sweater a lot and don’t really wear it very often. It’s got a great length and fit, sleeves hit at the right point in my arms without having to bunch them up. The skirt flows but still has some structure due to the material and my Ecco sneakers are comfortable af. Yellow belt ties nicely with the gold accessories - I got the earrings from Amazon of all places and I absolutely love them - chunky and textured but not too big. Bracelet stack is all from Poshmark.

I used the kerastase curl reviver this morning which makes my hair look very big and tousled. Perfect for the vibes of the fit.

Today’s look

The outfit has a lot going on- multiple textures and colours, especially with the shoes thrown into the mix. This was socially styled from a Reddit post and it’s not something I would have thought of myself. I do want more ways to wear the boucle jacket and this is one if my favourite skirts so I’ll wear today and see how it feels! First impressions are a kind of vintage-luxury artsy vibe that I dig.
