When he put his hand on her shoulder, she looked up at him, chewing her lower lip. âI should have been there. On time. ItâsâŚI canât help but feel like it is my fault though. She needed me, Nik and I wasnât there. I will always blame myself for that. Itâs a feeling I donât think Iâll ever be able to shake.â She said, shrugging her shoulders. She sighed, nodding her head, agreeing to go somewhere more private.
âIâm already miserable, so I donât know if itâs possible to become even more miserable and fucked up than I already am. Losing the girl I thought I wanted to spend the rest of my life with and my sister in the span of a week, week and a half maybe, really fucked me up.â She frowned when he called himself her former best friend, âYouâll always be my best friend. When she died, I justâŚdecided to stop dealing with my feelings and I pushed people away. That doesnât make it right and for that Iâm sorry.â
⌠â ⢠nik looked down as he walked with her, holding off on the rest of the conversation until they werenât in public. he took a small deep breath in and pressed his lips together, âyou are not at fault. you were never in fault. nor will you ever be.â he looked at her, pulling her into an embrace. he knew it was probably the wrong time but he had to. he could feel her pain, he could sense it and he wanted to try to at least help. reagan was the only person he cared about most of the time.
âi understand that but you need to breathe through it. put yourself first. instead of making misery.â he sounded like a hallmark card. which he didnât intentionally do, âi understand, reag. i do. we both lost our sister, though.â he took a small breath in and sighed, âAnd youâll always be mine. we both did though. i shut down. you shut down. we need to get over that and get back to where we were.â
