☼ if there's one thing august isn't ashamed of, it's your relationship. it doesn't take long for the other cleaners to figure out you're together, given that august won't leave your side. pda isn't something he's shy about. he's either holding your hand, has an arm wrapped around your waist, or arm interlocked with yours.

gris, bent down on one knee, methodically tied your shoe as you remained perched on the edge of the kitchen counter where he had placed you. his fingers worked diligently, occasionally brushing against your exposed ankle. when you noticed the complexity of the ribbons were giving him a hard time, you placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry about it, I'll just change shoes—"

"there," he announced just in time as he stepped back, gently letting your foot hang. you peered over the edge of the counter at the clumsy bow he had fastened to your heels. "can't have you falling, now can we?"

"thank you," you said, wrapping your arms around his neck as he stepped forward to place his hands at your waist. in a swift motion, you felt your feet being placed gently on the floor.

"anytime." he pressed a kiss to your forehead and opened the door, letting you lead the way out of the apartment.

enjin tugged on the sleeve of your jacket as your hand was halfway to shoving more popcorn in your mouth. you lifted a brow, taking in how there was little to no space in his infamous two-seater. the narrow center console was the only thing keeping you two apart.

you laughed. "but I'm right next to you."

"and im freezing," your husband complained as he pretended to warm his hands and shiver. "you just gonna let me sit here and freeze to death? Wow, that's cold, babe."

knowing you weren't going to hear the end of his playful whining—or get to enjoy the rest of the drive in movie—you carefully slipped over the center console. almost immediately enjin welcomed you with open arms, shuffling as he settled you on his lap while you balanced the popcorn bucket on yours. naturally, you leaned back against his chest that rumbled with victorious laughter, as he comfortably rested his chin on your shoulder, his arms around your waist.

"better?" You asked as you snuggled warmly against your husband.

"better," he replied as he kissed your cheek. you smiled before offering him some popcorn, of which he took from your fingers with his teeth.

Quality time

"you didn't have to eat lunch with me today. I know you've been busy with work," you whispered across the table, attempting to keep a low profile. "i'm sure the traffic—"

"why are you whispering?" he lifted a brow in genuine confusion. you watched as he glanced around the cafeteria, locking eyes with a few of your coworkers who hushed their whispers to silence before turning to look at you again. he leaned in closely. "am i speaking too loudly?"

you couldn't help but laugh at your soft spoken husband's incredulous question. "no. i'm just...i'm not used to getting this much attention at work..." you took a sip of the [insert favorite drink] he brought you. you looked down at the meal he brought - your absolute favorite. your bowl of food was already half way gone, your shyness not outweighing your appetite. "and as much as i love that you're here, you don't exactly go...unnoticed."

your husband smiled in amusement. "we always talk about how dull our jobs are and i wanted to come and spend some time with you." he looked down at his bowl, swirling his spoon in his soup intentionally. "or am i already on track for being the worst husband in the world?"

your cheeks grew warm as you fought the smile on your face. you sat up straighter and reached across the table to grab his free hand. you squeezed it and he threaded your fingers together, palm to palm.

You shook your head. "not in the slightest." Tamsy smiled. "Then let's give your coworkers something to talk about."

In fact, sitting in the car next to Gris was making your insomnia worse.

Your eyes couldn't tear themselves away from how he maneuvered the jeep. He had one hand on the wheel with a loose grip and the other resting on the center console, lightly tapping his fingers that occasionally brushed against your arm —a contradiction to how he normally drove on missions during the day. He was lightly humming to a nonexistent song you couldn't hear; the stereo devoid of Enjin's usual selection of Too Lily's music. Every so often Gris would shift his eyes from side to side and turn to glance at you—

"Sleep yet?"

"Nope," your head turned just in time before you could lock eyes with him. You looked out the window, your cheeks growing warm. It had been the third time in the past ten minutes that he had caught you staring at him.

"Are you comfortable? Am I driving too fast?"

"No, you're good. I'm just," you paused to yawn, "not tired."

Gris shifted, his arm nudging yours gently. "Give it some time, you're already yawning."

You took his words with a grain of salt. Yawning didn't mean you were tired, it was just a way of your body tricking you into thinking you were going to sleep. You had learned only a couple of weeks ago that your sleep had taken a hiatus. You blamed it on the missions but Eisha convinced you that it was more than just that. She was convinced that your body simply couldn't rest properly because of some sort of stressor.

But you hadn't experienced a recent traumatizing event - minus the numerous times Enjin got behind the wheel. You weren't stressed about anything in particular...unless you counted last week when you had to hold Rudo back from fighting Dear Santa over a tray of sweets. There just wasn't a single trigger you could think of that could contribute to the horrendous eyebags that managed to find a permanent home under your eyelids.

Fortunately, this conclusion prompted you to throw back the sheets and tip toe down the hall to Gris' room. You told him the predicament you were in and he took it upon himself to offer you a joyride in the jeep, in hopes of lulling you to a good night's rest.

With a dramatic sigh, you pressed the side of your face against the seatbelt, eyes looking out the window at the passing scenery of trash.

" I don't think this is working. I'm sorry to have bothered you—"

"You're not bothering me," he said, almost instantly. "So stop saying that. I'm glad to help. You need your sleep."

"And you need yours," you pointed out, turning your head to look over at him. He was wearing a smile that was riddled with amusement. "Your always helping everybody else."

Gris let his hand on the top of the wheel fall to the side. The jeep smoothly ducked around an incoming pot hole. "That's what supporters do, Y/N."

Without hesitation, his free hand found yours, the one resting on your lap comfortably. His hand was free of his gloves. You could feel his scarred palm gathering your rough knuckles into a soft bunch. You felt comfortable, safe. Dare you even say, supported.

An impromptu yawn interrupted your shared gaze and you briefly broke your hand away from his to cover it in embarrassment. Gris chuckled and put his free hand back on the wheel.

You looked away, butterflies creating a swarm in your stomach. "Sorry."

"Don't be," he said, eyes straight ahead now, a satisfied glint in his features. "You're looking sleepy already. Think it might be working?"

You leaned back, tucking your legs towards your chest and leaning against the seat sideways. Your eyes rested lazily on the side of Gris' face.

"Don't get too excited," You said, voice filled with playfulness. You reached over and lightly punched his arm, nearly cracking your knuckles against his dense bicep in the process. You groaned and tucked your hand into your oversized sleeve, your elbow now perched on the center console.

Gris rumbled with laughter. "But you've yawned like twice already."

"Yawning's a facade. I yawn all the time, doesn't mean I'm going to fall asleep," you said with a sleepy smile. "I don't know if this is working."

"Are you doubting my driving abilities, Y/N?"

You lifted a brow, sitting up a little straighter at his accusation. "Not at all. I'm just saying you might have met your match." There was no one else you could think of who could help you except Gris. After all, you felt the closest to him out of all the Cleaners. "Everyone says your driving puts them to sleep...maybe it just doesn't work on me."

You stifled another yawn, earning a grin from your driver.

Gris smirked. "You sure about that?"

With a playful roll of your eyes, you pulled your knees to your chest and pressed the side of your face against the seat cushion. You narrowed your eyes at Gris before your blinks grew a little slower.

"I'm sure," you mumbled. "See? I'm not even...tired."

You shuffled and crossed your arms, briefly letting your eyes close for a few seconds. Each time you opened your eyes, your view of Gris' face grew narrower and blurrier.

"Yeah," You heard Gris say during your final blinks, "I believe you, Y/N."

With careful precision, Gris closed the door of the jeep with his hip. He shuffled quietly towards the Cleaner's entrance. With a silent wave from Semui and a nod in return, he passed the front desk and headed for the back hallways. With each step he took, he made sure not to bolster much noise from the creaking floorboards.

He inched passed his locked bedroom and took a sharp left until he came to a familiar door that had been left cracked open, a sliver of darkness begging to be set free. With the toe of his boot he pushed open the door and maneuvered through the darkness, using the dimly lit hallway as his guide.

Your covers had been left wrinkled, tossed aside as if you had been boxing with sleep until you couldn't take it anymore. With a shake of his head, Gris lowered you onto the mattress. You mumbled something incoherent as he unlaced your shoes and set them on the floor.

Carefully, he reached over to pull the blankets back over, tucking the fabric securely around you as if creating a secure island. As he moved to straighten his posture, he swept his thumb over the prominence of your cheek.

jabber was like a spider - a pesky little vampiric spider whose teeth was always stained with red after every mission. he didn't startle you in the slightest. that was probably why he had always been attached to you at the hip from the beginning.

in the quiet hours of the night, his chin found its way on your shoulder while you sat in front of the cracked television screen, waiting for your next assignment from zodyl.

you and jabber had a mutual understanding about jabber's masochism: as long as he didn't talk during your favorite show, he could stay and keep you company. of course, even if he did break this silent rule, you didn't shoo him off.

"okay, don't be weird," you joked one evening as you both sat on the cold floor of a cave you both called a home. your smile had been on a tight leash ever since he joined you on the floor, though it was starting to slip as he was currently begging you to spar with him, though not without stealing kisses from your cheek or poking your side— which resulted in him erupting into an infectious cackle at each of your reactions.

you reached out your palm to swipe his face away, but your pesky little spider had other plans. he quickly dodged it, a playful snicker falling from his mouth, displaying a set of teeth that could've gone for fangs.

"if i'm weird and you always want me to stay...what does that make you, pretty?"

you scoffed, your eyes remaining on the fragmented television screen that was now displaying your favorite channel: a flurry of black and white that matched a soothing static hum. the channel drowned out the sound of your heartbeat that had momentarily quickened at the pet name and his fair question.

you heard shuffling behind you and so you looked over your shoulder. he was standing a few feet from you now, towering over you in the shadows. his hair enclosed around his frame like the large angular legs of a daddy long-leg, ready to attack its prey. he was hunched over slightly, pink eyes twitching in the darkness as he patiently awaited your response.

your heart skipped a beat, though not out of fear.

"i guess that makes me weird, too," you eventually said with a defeated shrug. you turned your back to him, letting him decide if he wanted to crawl away from your presence or not.

but to your pleasant surprise, not long after you turned back to the television, you felt his arms grab at your waist. the tendrils of his locs wrapped around you, trapping you both in his web of methodical affections. you had been captured yet again, but escaping his embrace was the last thing on your mind.

like a spider's captured prey, you squirmed as jabber pulled you to his chest from behind and stole a couple of sloppy kisses from your cheek - a few of which involved the soft poke of his canines. at his flurry of ticklish cheek kisses, you couldn't help but laugh.

"that's okay, pretty,' he mumbled quietly in between short snickers, his breath tickling your cheek. "we can be weird together, then."

thankfully, jabber pulled his face back from yours momentarily, giving you a chance to breathe, before ensnaring you more firmly against his chest.

"Do you remember when we thought the world was going to end?"

Doug expelled a breath, the side of your face sinking further against his chest. For a moment, his heartbeat stilled just before his lungs filled back up and his heart went back to work.

It was just the two of you, sitting on the edge of the world while your feet dangled above the people going about their lives below. The sun was stalling— its rays inking the sky in pink and purple—not quite ready to say goodbye for the day.

"I remember it like it was yesterday," Doug said after a beat of silence. You didn't have to look up at him to know the corners of his mouth were tilted upwards in a slight smile, but you did anyway.

Briefly peeling away from him, you playfully nudged his rib with a short laugh. He groaned, clearly still injured from the grisly stunts he pulled in Pakistan, but took your playful jab in stride by producing a subtle grin.

You gave him an apologetic look, about to distance between you so he could recover, but he was already pulling you closer to him, as if you were his band-aid that simply needed readjusting.

"It was yesterday," you reminded him before your head fell upon his shoulder for good measure this time. He kept your back steady with his arm, his hand massaging your shoulder gently in between his small, short-lived chuckles.

You didn't trust Tamsy as far as you could throw him. But that didn't stop your foot from slipping and your body from tipping backwards. Before your instincts could kick in, before your skull could meet the ground, you felt gravity stop. You didn't open your eyes until you felt his breath tickling your cheeks.

Tamsy.

He was so close, yet so far away. A glimmer of an upside down smirk rested on his lips, stretching the marks on his face. Marks you didn't have the courage to stare at until now.

"Where'd you get those scars from?" You asked, remaining upside down as Tamsy's effortless hold on your shoulders kept you only a few inches from the ground. You didn't know what compelled you to ask such a question at a time like this, but it was all you could think to do to keep yourself from staring into his questionable gaze.

"The less you know, the better," he said, as the world turned right side up and did a 180. Tamsy straightened your posture, his tall frame reminding you how small you were in comparison—even with a pair of skates on. Automatically, your hands gripped onto the fabric of his long attire to keep you from slipping again. He lifted a brow at this, though the ends of his lips curved upwards. You felt his hand brush at an imaginary wrinkle on your shoulder. "We can just count your misstep as a...necessary trust fall," he whispered before you released him.

You furrowed your brows as you grabbed onto a nearby rail to keep your balance. "Thanks for catching me, but I wouldn't exactly call me nearly breaking my neck on these skates a trust fall." You grunted as you managed to get into a comfortable standing position after a couple of seconds of wobbling to your feet. You gripped the rail with both hands, knuckles tense. "Nor, would I call it necessary."

Tamsy shrugged, lanky arms at his sides. "Mistakes are inevitable," he said as he glided near you, "But, otherwise necessary."

You lifted a brow. "I don't think you're making any sense."

"Says the cleaner with two left feet." Tamsy tapped your left skate with his right one as he pulled up to next to you. Without so much as a warning, he looped his arm through yours, prompting you to lean against his tall frame. He gently tugged you from the rail. You let go of it reluctantly, your breath hitching.

For a while you both glided across the ground throughout town. With every wobble, your grip on Tamsy's arm tightened. Passing over rocky terrain was like riding a roller coaster, but Tamsy never once let you fall. In fact, he seemed a little too relaxed. So much so, that he would hum or chuckle every so often at your soft gasps that derived from your occasional imbalances.

"You're a natural."

You took his compliment with a grain of salt. Within months of knowing Tamsy, you had already figured him out to be a snake. A garden snake or a rattlesnake—you still weren't quite sure which suited him best.

"I mean it," he clarified, lips going into a straight line, though his eyes still remained aglow like a month to a flame. You two eventually came to a slow halt, your free hand finding the corner of a brick wall. "Putting on the skates was half the battle. You practically won the war, y/n."

"And I only fell once," you pointed out.

"And you nearly fell once," he corrected proudly as he slid to the ground next to you while you were already reaching for your laces. "That's pretty impressive."

"Well, I had an interesting teacher."

You both held each other's gaze at this. Tamsy's fingers had somehow found their way to your skates, hovering over one of the bunny ears that kept them secure there. Your fingers lingered on the other loop of the lace— halfway undone.

Tamsy shrugged nonchalantly. "You have passion, which makes teaching a lot easier," he said with a friendly grin. He looked down at your skates, his forefinger now wrapped around the loop he was holding. "May I?"

With a quiet nod, you leaned back against the brick wall as Tamsy took it upon himself to untie your skates. You didn't realize how tightly they had been secured to your feet until the loops were undone. It was mere seconds before your socked feet were resting on solid ground again.

"We should do this again sometime," You said as you gathered both skates with one hand and sat them next to you. Tamsy had managed to squeeze closer to you, the sliver of dirt between you no longer visible.

"Only if you promise to say you'll trust me."

You had been fiddling with the strap of your dress all night.

"Alright everyone, squeeze in tight!"

The pulsating hum from the music bass in the background jostled your heart against your chest. It didn't help that you were shoved between your group mate and Seongwha - who you hadn't seen since the promotion of Ateez and [insert your kpop group name] song collaboration last year.

Although you obviously knew way in advance that [insert your kpop group name] and Ateez were performing on separate nights at Coachella, running into Park Seongwha still threw you for a loop. During the promotion of each groups' shared song, you two had gotten closer than intended - a well kept hushed secret that was made of prolonged eye contact, inconspicuous flirtatious smiles, and subtle, gentle nudges of each other's arms and shoulders in passing.

"A little closer!" The camera man said while holding the phone horizontally to ensure everyone fit in the picture.

You felt Seongwha shuffle closer to you, the fabric of his shirt rubbing against your bare arm. You two had been positioned at the very end of the line, thanks to your closest bandmate.

Oh, if only you weren't surrounded by wandering eyes, you would give your friend a good—

"This okay?"

His arm fell across your shoulders as he leaned in, subtly tucking you to his side. Your eyes widened, though naturally, you molded into him as he drew a peace sign with his other hand that happened to be stuck in his pocket.

"Yeah." It was the only word your mouth could produce as you drew your own signature peace sign.

The camera flashed multiple times before the cameraman told everyone to 'look cool' this time.

You and Seongwha dropped your cute peace signs simultaneously. He shifted and stuck his hand into his pocket. Meanwhile, your hands stuck out from the front pocket of your jeans, one knee bent so you looked more relaxed.

"Long time no see, right?"

"Tell me about it," You replied under your breath as the group either switched poses or facial expressions. You could hear your groupmates laughing and talking with the rest of the group. "We should definitely do this more often," you joked.

He chuckled lightly. "What? Take pictures or catch up?"

"Both," you said between the next set of clicks.

"Agreed."

Seongwha dropped his arm from your shoulder, shifting the loose shoulder strap of your blouse to the upper part of your bicep. You had forgotten about the darn thing until now. It had been a nuisance all night - seeming to fall off your shoulder every time a wave of nervous energy coursed through you. But your stylist insisted this was the perfect night to show it off to the world of Coachella. You internally groaned.

But before you could reach for the fabric, Seongwha had already draped it back onto your shoulder securely before loosely resting his forearm on your shoulder, posing another time. You were quick to flash a smile just before the last picture was taken.

"Thanks," you mumbled as the group began to disperse. You hiked the strap higher, ensuring this slip up wouldn't happen again...at least not while you were both interacting.

"Don't mention it," he said before the performer onstage began his set. Seongwha stepped towards you so his voice could be over the cheers from the crowd. His breath fanning your cheek. "Don't forget to kill it tomorrow, okay?"

"Getting sleepy, aren't we?"

You lifted your head from the stack of papers on your desk that were desperately in need of being graded. "Not at all. I'm just resting my eyes," you said, picking up the red pen that had somehow slipped from your fingers.

Stein scoffed, rolling towards your desk in the chair he sat in backwards. "Yeah, right, sleepy," he said, poking your cheek. "I saw you drooling."

Lazily, you slapped his hand away. "In your dreams, cheater. At least I'm actually grading papers." Playfully, you snatched the unlit cigarette from his lips and tossed it in the trashcan next to you. "Also, there's no smoking in my classroom."

Like a lost puppy, he braced his chin on his wrists and pouted, easing forward until his chair hit the front of your desk. You were now face to face with him, though you lowered your head back down to the essay you were in the middle of grading - right before he could place a kiss on your lips.

"But, I finished grading," he replied in playful defense.

You lifted your head and looked past his shoulder at the numerous stacks of paper haphazardly towered over a smooth wooden surface. You lifted a brow at your opponent.

"Okay...so I only graded one stack," he added quickly, sitting up in his chair, blocking your view of the mountain of papers behind him. "But at least I haven't snored yet."

"I do not snore," you said defensively as he began to laugh. In the midst of his contagious laughter, he threw his head back, the ceiling light reflecting off of his glasses. Before he could compose himself, he slipped and the chair went down with him in a loud crash.

Smirking, you peered over your desk at your boyfriend on the floor. Your chin resting in your palm.

"Aha! So you were sleeping!" He pointed at you from below, adjusting his glasses as if the chair had packed a good punch to his face on his way down.

"You have no proof," You said simply before standing from your chair. You turned to face the blackboard and began erasing your notes in hopes of getting more energy circulating through your veins.

"Ah, but I do, pretty," he replied, pulling himself to his feet. He wiped the dust from his lab coat and clumsily stepped over the squeaky chair before making his way towards you. Wordlessly, he took your wrist, the one erasing notes from the board, and held it up. "Exhibit A."

His thumb ran over the imprint marks from you leaning on your spiral bound notebook. The marks ran from the back of your hand to your forearm.

"So?" You gently took your wrist back and faced the board again. "Doesn't mean I was sleeping."

"Exhibit B," he said, continuing his charade. He reached out to touch your chin, gently turning your head to face him. His thumb swept just below your eyes. "Large pupils, droopy eyelids."

"Which indicate what, Stein?"

Stein smirked and whispered, "Sleep deprivation," before kissing your cheek.

You stifled a soft laugh and turned your chin away from his grasp. You playfully rolled your eyes despite the heat rising to your cheeks.

"And what's your final submission of evidence?" You asked before using your other hand to stifle an untimely yawn.

"Exhibit C," he said, pointing at you with a smirk.

Playfully, you swatted at him like he was a pesky fly, but he dodged your attempts easily. "Good thing you're a scientist," you mumbled in between yawns and giggles. "Because you'd be a terrible lawyer."

Nodding in agreement, he took both your cheeks in his hollowed hands and placed a kiss on your lips.

"Heart thumps and you jump, coming down with goosebumps..."

"Shoyo...can we go through the haunted house?"

Asking Shoyo Hinata to go through a haunted house with you at the fall festival was a mistake. Of course, you were oblivious to the fact that he had been avoiding the haunted house all night. Between stuffing each other's faces with cotton candy and riding the same carnival rides countless times, you were unaware that a journey through the cheap haunted house was the last thing on Shoyo's mind.

"Sure, babe, let's check it out," he said, wanting to impress you. If there was anyone who would get scared, it was going to be you. At least that's what Hinata was banking on.

But, boy was he was wrong.

The moment you both stepped through the threshold and a man with a ski mask walked out with a chainsaw, the sound of your shrill-like scream was drowned out by a blood-curdling cry.

When he realized that he was the one screaming, Hinata looked at you and cleared his throat.

"What? He caught me off guard!" He said, waving his arms around as if to try and convince the entire haunted house that his scream was justified. You could only laugh and grab his hand before pulling him through the rest of the haunted maze.

The rest of the walk through the haunted house consisted of you and Hinata holding onto each other tightly as you both were in search of the exit.

Yeah, you both were never doing that again.

"You stayed in too late, to be getting afraid..."

"Hey, Toshi, can we check out the haunted house?"

Convincing Wakatoshi Ushijima to go in the haunted house with you took a lot more effort than you thought it would. It wasn't because he was scared (obviously) but it was more so because haunted houses weren't "his thing". In fact, the entire fall festival wasn't much of "his thing", but you managed to drag him on every single roller coaster and kiddie ride for the past three hours. And with every ride the two of you rode—even though he tried not to show it—you caught him smiling in enjoyment when he wasn't looking.

"I'll pass," he said, while juggling the giant teddy bear he won you from one of the carnival games; as well as two bundles of cotton candy. "I don't like haunted houses."

"Why? Are you scared?"

You both knew the answer to that question. If anything, the haunted house should've been scared of your boyfriend who stood over six feet tall and often wore a frown like his smile didn't exist.

Rolling his eyes, your gentle giant set aside the cotton candy and handed you your prize before taking you by the hand.

"Let's just get this over with. It's getting cold," he said.

You did your best to hide excitement as you gripped both the teddy bear and [insert first name's] hand. As you both walked past the creaky doors, a faceless man with long hair jumped out of the shadows, giving a guttural scream.

Just as you jumped and tucked yourself into your boyfriend's side out of surprise, you saw the haunted house actor fall to the ground. He was rubbing his head and peeling off his mask while muttering a bunch of expletives.

"Toshi!"

"Sorry," he said to you, seemingly embarrassed, though his expression made little difference to anyone but you. His lips were pursed, though his eyebrows were slightly raised as if he had seen a ghost. You and Ushijima took turns apologizing to the man.

The actor finally got to his feet, narrowing his eyes at both you and your boyfriend before he looked down at Ushijima's hand. "Whatever. Can I least have my chainsaw back?"

While holding in your laughter, you watched as your boyfriend handed the prop back to the actor who slid back into the shadows, muttering something about "not getting paid enough to do this". When he was gone, you hunched over and clutched your stomach as you laughed.

"I didn't know you were going to be this scared," You said once you were able to compose yourself. You clutched the large teddy bear in your arms and shook your head in amusement.

Rolling his eyes for the umpteenth time, he smiled slightly and wrapped his arms around your shoulders, pulling you close to his side. "I wasn't scared," he said, pressing a kiss to your brow. "I was just trying to protect you. You're welcome."

This time, it was your turn to roll your eyes. "Whatever, Toshi."

And you for the remainder of the evening, you both wandered through the haunted house —you clutching onto your boyfriend's arm so he wouldn't accidentally injure another actor.

"Tetsu, let's go to the haunted house!"

"This scene's extreme, I'mma get you so scared..."

This man was a little too eager when you asked him to go with you through the haunted house. If anything, you were starting to regret asking him about it after he plastered on an overly confident smirk that was riddled with nothing but mischief.

"Heck, yeah. Let's go!"

It was too late for you to turn back now as he dragged you towards the entrance. You were skeptical knowing the haunted house would only boost his ego. You gripped onto his hand as you both entered the house. The floorboards creaked as you inched forward.

"You know you can hold onto me if you get scared, [your name]," he said, wriggling his eyebrows. You rolled your eyes and shoved your boyfriend playfully, the action causing you let go of his hand.

"I'm not scared," You said, crossing your arms.

Amused by your overconfidence, Kuroo smirked. "Well, alright then. See you on the other side."

And like the childish boyfriend he was, he bet you to a race. The first one to get through the haunted house without so much as a scream was the winner. Of course you didn't have time to agree—or disagree—with this plan, because he was already walking down the hall.

You did your best to catch up, but he was already way ahead of you. You could hear his laugh echoing throughout the place as ghosts and skeletons popped out of nowhere.

After seconds of trying to find him, you ended up walking alone.

"Tetsu, this isn't funny. Wait for me," You said into the hallway that was lit with decorative skull lights. Crossing your arms you carried on, slightly annoyed that your boyfriend had left you to traverse through the haunted house alone.

The sudden cascade of creaking noises made you stiffen, but you did your best to ignore it. This was your first haunted house, and although it took a lot to scare you, that didn't mean you weren't at least jumpy from time to time. Stopping before another dark hallway, you looked around. Just as you looked over your shoulder, a set of arms grabbed you around the waist.

"Boo!"

You screamed as your boyfriend's laughter rang throughout the haunted house. It took you a moment to register that it was him, and when you finally did, you glared at him.

"That's not funny," You said, doing your best to hide your smile as you turned to face him.

"Yes, it is," he said, another laugh surfacing. "And since you screamed, you owe me a kiss."

Naturally, you flinched, but relaxed when you realized it was only your husband kissing you goodbye before he left for work. He gave you an apologetic look before murmuring, “love you”, and straightening to his full height. You murmured the words back as you slowly rose to a sitting position while your eyes adjusted to the foggy haze of exhaustion that clouded your vision.  

As he leaned over the side of the bed to pick up his briefcase, you noticed a lanky piece of fabric hanging loosely from his shoulder. 

Suddenly, as if caught by your gaze, he straightened again and turned to look at you one last time before inching towards the door, a subtle smile lacing his features. 

Ignoring the bed’s pleas for you to stay, you threw back the blankets and rushed over, snatching the tie from your husband’s shoulder before he could protest. He was never good at tying his own tie and you both had known this since the very first date you both went on together.

“You could’ve asked,” you said, wrapping the tie around his neck.

“I didn’t want to bother you,” he replied, dropping the suitcase and turning to face you fully, his face ridden with guilt. He lowered his head, tendrils of his hair flopping out of place. 

“But it’s the first day.” You made sure the ends of the tie were even before you started looping them together intricately. It took a couple of tries, but eventually you got the knot just right. “And you’re never bothering me.”

With a final tug, the knot was secure. 

“Done.”

But before you could step back to admire your work, he caught you by the waist and tugged you close to him for a brief kiss. 

“Thank you,” he murmured quietly, as his hand swept along your upper back. “I think I’m just nervous.”

“Don’t be,” you said. “You’ve done this before.”

✦ Aizawa Shota; Today was one of those days in which the quiet man with sad eyes and binding cloths covering half of his face sat on the couch alone—eyes glued to the news broadcasting channel—while you stood on the opposite side of the room nursing a cup of bitter-tasting black coffee. When the bitterness got too much for you, you tossed the paper cup in the trash and walked over to sit on the couch. He sat with his arms sprawled across the back of the couch as you sank into the cushions and resisted the magnetic force pulling you towards him. That magnetic force eventually manifested itself into a binding cloth, gentle wrapping around your shoulders and tugging towards the empty space against him. After a second or two of resisting, you gave in and settled against him, your head resting against his chest and your legs tucked underneath you as you snuggled against his side. Although risky, you both were comfortable as you both watched a couple of pro heroes being interviewed after saving a family from a gruesome fire. "How's your day going?" You managed to ask as his arm now rested along your shoulders, pulling you closer. "It's going better now, And you?" he mumbled, resting his head on yours now. You couldn't help but smile, your body relaxing as you two enjoyed each other's company for only a few minutes longer. "Same here. Much better," you replied. The two of you remained like that until the bell rang, signaling that lunch was over. Unfortunately, you both were reluctant to leave each other's grasp.

✦ Hizashi Yamada; Sneaking around with him was nothing less than a thrill and a difficult task. At this rate you wouldn't surprised if the other UA instructors knew of your relationship given the many close calls you both had getting caught. Almost everyday when the students were dismissed for lunch, you found yourself migrating to his classroom. He'd be sitting at his desk, pretending to not be eagerly awaiting your arrival. When you saw you, he could never keep his voice down nor hide his excitement. As if he hadn't seen you in years, he'd spring from his desk and rush to you, his arms engulfing you into a hug before you could remind him for the umpteenth time that your relationship was to remain a secret. However, this warning does little to stop him from quickly pecking your cheek just before anyone in the hallway can catch you both in close proximity. During days when you can't find him in his classroom when the bell rings, he'll have one of his students deliver a note to you saying to meet him a secure location on campus during lunchtime. It felt like highschool all over again with the two of you sneaking around on school grounds to talk about your day and the progress you both were making with your students. Everytime you both parted, he'd quickly pull you close and kiss your forehead before whispering, "I'll see you later, babe." When the bell rings signaling lunch is over, you head back to your classroom, unable to wipe the chipper smile from your face.
