AQUA LAGUNA

In my head, the aqua lagunas are equivalent to how I've had to prepare for the really bad hurricanes/tropical storms when I was younger. Paulie's known about them basically since he was a baby, and as soon as he could be of use, he helped his parents out when it came to boarding up the building so that water wouldn't come in. He's always been warned about how he needed to be home as soon as aqua laguna season drew near and as he grew older, he became part of the team that helps ensure all locals and tourists are safely in an area that the aqua laguna can't injure them. He's never really been afraid of them, but does worry any time he feels like their sweep wasn't good enough, and hopes there's no casualties/missing people from it.

I imagine the aqua laguna being a one night only thing, but it's not typically the same exact night. Usually it's predicted by scientists who monitor the tides, currents, and wind speeds, then send out a warning for when it starts to pick up and threaten an aqua laguna. The people in general usually can prepare for it ahead of time, and Paulie in particular has been good at gauging when it's coming and how long they have left before they have to stop any searches and return back to shelter.

For the most part, both him and his family lived in the upper portion of Water 7, so they haven't had an issue with having to move anywhere. But there have been conversations more recently of where they might go if the city becomes too submerged for their comfort. So far only half of his family would be alright with leaving, while the other half are standing their ground. While Paulie might have brought up the topic, he's not inclined to leave either.

Paulie does have his worries about how fast the water had been rising compared to Water 7. With how much the city has sunk when he was a little kid to now? He worries that the city will be submerged in a decade or two (and he's being optimistic with that guess). Not to mention how much more destructive the aqua laguna has been, as he noted back when he was helping out the Straw Hats. With his new position as vice president, he also is actively trying to work with other carpenters to see about improving buildings to withstand the power of the sea. On top of assisting Iceberg in his hopes to make Water 7 a floating island.

S5 CANON DIVERGENCIES

I personally still think Ne Zha's and Li Jing's relationship is pretty strained. There is that element where Ne Zha wants that parental, unconditional love that never really came to him, but at the same time, gets very easily frustrated with his father's stubbornness. He also is often unnerved by the fact his father wouldn't hesitate to put him in the pagoda if he really spoke out of turn. He's leashed, more or less.

I also lowkey can't stand the mech used when they were on the run so I just personally don't see that happening, moreso he has that legendary war form (three heads, six arms, very cool-) he starts to use but stops himself as Li Jing tries to intervene and do the work himself. It ends with Ne Zha hurling the spear and letting it explode into lotus petals to obscure Li Jing and give the group time to get away. Dad gets mad and orders him to get back to the celestial realm and wait for him there.

The whole "i've always been proud of you" when the world was supposedly ending really and so truly rubbed me the wrong way unfortunately. I think if anything, it would have been more of a " I should have changed sooner. " or something cause I know in my heart of hearts this man wouldnt just outright apologize. like say he's wrong and maybe change but never say the words "im sorry", especially not after thousands of years.

Amidst the Lotus Temple, there's a section near the back that is privatized and meant for Ne Zha only (and anyone else he permits to soak in).

Inspired by a place in Noragami that Bishamon frequents to cleanse herself and whatnot, a similar place has been built for Ne Zha. It is a healing pool for when injuries need to be recovered much faster than a celestial normally would. In addition to his not-exactly-human composition, he is more receptive to the pool than most others. The pool is about pond sized, deep enough to soak up to the shoulders when seated. It's always a comfortable temperature, with lily pads and lotus growing from it. Almost like it was taken from the earth itself and transported to a spot in the temple.

CANON DIVERGENCY: WCI EDITION

These are just some major points regarding some changes/personal hcs for some of Sanji's thoughts/actions during the WCI arc.

Sanji was under the impression that the arranged marriage was between two adults upon reluctantly accepting the terms to come along with Bege to return to the North Blue. So when he was initially shown the photo, he was taken aback by the beauty, but immediately noticed how young she was. He doesn't and never does have any sort of romantic feelings once having that instinct that something was off. He actually despises Big Mom for this, as if the idea of the arranged marriage wasn't already unappealing to him.

Sanji does NOT want to marry Pudding, as he doesn't share any sort of feelings for her and he wants to go back to the Straw Hats in the end. Or at least no longer be around the biological family that practically held him hostage there. And he has explicitly expressed that to Pudding. In fact, he had enough trust in her, believing this was also forced upon her, to try and see about making a plan to free themselves of this arrangement.

He only agrees to it because there was a promise that the Straw Hats would be able to leave the island without any worry of them getting hurt. He did have a foolish hopefulness that she would hold onto her promise.

The evening where Sanji planned to meet with Pudding and had a picnic basket, he doesn't pick a bouquet of roses for her. He had a much smaller version of daisies, as a friendly gesture as they could pull away from Big Mom's watchful eye with her kids/guards/etc. and continue to plan ways around the wedding he thought the both of them didn't want.

The day where they were supposed to be married, he does call her beautiful as a way to get her to hesitate. After all, he heard just about everything between Pudding and Reiju in secret and without her knowledge. It was more tactical with a hint of being genuine because he believed she needed a confidence boost on her own looks.

Sanji does not share a kiss with Pudding. All that happened between them was a tight hug (more one sided with Pudding) and her unrequited confession to him before they went their separate ways. The confession was the memory that she extracted and as far as Sanji knows, they're just acquaintances in the end. So he's still waiting on that first kiss of his.

Sanji denounces and disowns his entire living family. He doesn't consider anyone in the Vinsmoke Family as any relative of his aside from his mother, to which he will speak fondly of her exclusively.

CANON DIVERGENCIES

// One thing I want to just have out there for my Sanji is how I have him canon compliant/divergent regarding the whole... way he interacts with women. AND LIKE IM SURE THERE'S JUST A GENERAL UNDERSTANDING... I just wanna write it out myself and have it on record for my blog.

Right off the bat, I don't play with the perversion at all. It wasn't funny when it became a thing in media and it certainly isn't funny now! So with my Sanji, there's not any creepy pervy things, but instead, a sort of puppy love-like feeling he gets when he interacts with women.

Sanji was raised with certain ideals where the man should ideally protect women and never raise a harmful hand/do anything harmful to them. Which would mean he would treat them with respect and hold himself accountable to those ideals. Though it can be very inhibiting in a fight, he knows he can rely on others to cover the weaknesses he has. And for the record, he can (and will) defend himself against attacks from women, it's only that he cannot attack/cause harm to them.

He's very prone to "falling in love" with women to the point where he's at their beck and call. Which is more infatuation above all else. When Sanji really has feeling for someone, he acts less "over the top" than he would with them. Genuinely would hold longer conversations with them, acts of service outside of cooking for them, and spending a lot of quality time with them. Even give more thoughtful compliments that are more than just beauty.

The whole nosebleed gag at Fishman Island? Sorry, I'm not really gonna acknowledge that other than he does love how pretty the mermaids are. He doesn't skyrocket off with nosebleeds or anything like that. Maybe a slight one from being overwhelmed by the attention of a bunch of mermaids/women but that's as far as it goes.

So rarely is he caught with a look beyond half-lidded interest within the group stuck in the same predicament. The first night for the captive crew had many unable to sleep, while others simply collapsed from exhaustion. Even the great policeman had to rest at some point. Eyelids growing heavy as he remained seated in a more private area of the first floor. With no bedrooms provided, some simply gave way to finding cold linoleum or a wooden chair as their bed for... what they assume was the night time.

Trembling fingers find their way to his own arm, clutching tightly to the fabric & muscle he could grab in the moment as he finds a surprising face attempt to comfort him. A fearful policeman wasn't something anyone needed, but that momentary expression adorning his face between the deepest slumber & sudden awakening showed true colors. Even if it was only seconds that it was present. The narrowing of those dull silver hues, searching for the ghost that wasn't there, all exposing a part of him that he wasn't prepared to show. The pain of how tight his own grip was brings him back to his senses faster. Pupils returning to a normal size as that half-lidded gaze returns. Perhaps even a hint of something reddening across his cheeks appears, purely out of embarrassment.

Keiji sits up more, rolling his neck as he feels it all too stiff falling asleep the way he did.

" Didn't meant to trouble you, " Keiji finally says, mouth feeling as dry as the desert when he speaks. His attention quickly focuses on the rest of the room. It seemed like it was just the two of them right now. Perfect. No one else needed to see that scene moments before. " Guess even the best of us can have a bad dream or two given where we are. Anything happen while I dozed off there ? "
