Reading my way through comics

In modern comics they'd just say the costume is made of a special light-weight material. Here they just have him strip.

So you've figured out bullet-proof armour but not how to protect yourself from by one hit K'O'ed every issue.

Imagine if it was that easy to escape the cops in modern comics.

I do enjoy how stupid villains are in the 40s comics.

This is the third time now a blue beetle 'warns' the criminals that the Blue Beetle is about to be on them. Which I get is a scare tactic but it's yet to tell me if this beetle is some sort of robot or if he's just trained an actual bug to fly ahead of him as an omen of his arrival.

Fascinated by their design for a hypothetical mobile phone even with it needing to fit with the beetle theme.

See that's why you don't just tell them about things like that.

When you're dying words are in the style of a telegraph you have no room for emotion or grand statements.

Alright, there's a bit more going on than just Slade's story but he is our narrator and point-of-view character for most of it so it felt like the best summary I could give.

I think I enjoyed this one a bit more than the original DC vs Vampires just because it had that bit more feeling of hope throughout it. Even if that is just a result of Slade being our narrator and being less prone to drowning in despair.

The art style however was dragging it back a little. It's really stylized which I do respect but it did come a bit to the detriment of being able to tell what was going on or who was doing what at times. I could still broadly figure things out but it did mean that sometimes dialogue would be informing me about what happened the previous panel because it just wasn't clear. Again, looked really cool, I just wish they had only used it for like the introduction of the first section or select moments and then changed to something a bit more easy to follow.

Overall though it was a good comic that filled in how some things in the original DC vs Vampires can to be while still being able to stand on its own.

Going out on a limb here and assuming Jason isn't the Arkham Knight here.

I am so baffled by how familiar Slade and Kori are acting.

The dialogue is fine actually that makes sense with how much history they have. It's the embracing of each other that doesn't make sense.
