You are strong. You will get through this.
To everyone reading this who is a woman, or not white, who's gay, or bisexual, or transgender, or who in any way falls outside the category of 'white cis straight Christian male', please know that you are loved.
The people in the United States have voted to say they hate us, and wish us to suffer and hurt and just disappear. They reject everything we are, and everything we stand for.
I don't even live in the US, but I've spent the last half hour crying. This is what the world thinks of us. All our deepest fears are true. There really are many, many people who would rather see us dead than treated with respect and dignity.
They can't get rid of us that easily. Specially for those of you in the United States, life is about to get a lot harder, a lot more painful, and a whole lot more dangerous.
But we will get through this. Think of the brave black women and men who fought against the status quo for centuries, just to be seen as people. Think of the women who were incarcerated, shamed, HATED for demanding the right to be seen as equal to men. Think of all of us who have been killed throughout the world for daring to love, to be ourselves, to be happy. Think of Stonewall.
Do not go gentle into that good night. Or any fucking night.
Don't let hatred and fear and violence silence you. We are at a difficult part of history. Sure, it's a better time than the one our grandmothers had to live in while they fought for women's suffrage, or the time our strong lgbt sisters and brothers lived in when they were beaten and murdered, or the time thousands of brave men and women died on a trail of tears.
Even so, it is a much more difficult time than it could've been. Should've been. But all we can do is stand up to the hatred and look it in the eye, and tell it to go fuck off where it came from.
Those that came before us were not beaten down, and neither will we.
Those that espouse hatred against us, and wish to see us suffer and die alone will have to wait a long time to see that, because we will not be silenced. A great number of people in the US spoke out against every one of us, and no matter whether we're in the US or outside it, we will show them, and their counterparts in our local communities, that they cannot get rid of us that easily. Not by a long shot.
