pride's not a sin

That time of the year again, huh. 

“You could’ve always just found a mirror, but I’m glad I sprung to your mind,” he teases, expression softening again. It’s been a while since he had surprise guests, but some things come naturally to him, and welcoming friends with something warm to drink is one of those - particularly in the shifting weather this season has brought him so far. The kitchen is only a brisk walk away, and he glances back at her to await an answer before he prepares anything. 

“I should hope so,” he muses, leaning against the doorframe as he looks her over. It’s been far too long since the last time they went out, really - it takes a brief moment’s effort not to delve into feeling bad that he hadn’t initiated a surprise meeting like this first. But Audi’s here now, ostensibly just to see him again, and that thought keeps his grin strong. “I missed you too, Süsse. How’s your corner of the world holding up these days?” 

[ Borghild is, for better or worse, a clear frenemy. The fact that Sindre can see a lot of himself in her flaws - arrogance, pride, stubbornness - does nothing to lessen that sense of animosity, though he realizes the hypocricy. Wouldn’t admit to it under anything less than serious duress, though. At the end of the day, though, she’s a rival more than an enemy; competitive spirit outweighs any real grudges, and no matter how much he might deride her to other Norwegians, outsiders can catch these hands if they genuinely talk shit about her. ] 

[ Sindre has always had somewhat conflicting feelings about Ola - wanting to prove himself, wanting to be good enough for him, wanting him, being jealous, wanting his attention and at the same time wishing he cared less. Above all, Ola is Sindre’s best friend bar none, and while he’ll happily fistfight him over football if need be and rib on him mercilessly when a harmless weak point appears, he’d never want to actually risk their friendship, because he’d never quite forgive himself if Ola was genuinely and rightfully mad at him. ] 

[ Audi is one of Sindre’s favourite people out there - a good friend, someone to joke around with or be serious and elegant depending on the mood, and he sincerely cherishes her as someone he can have a good time with when he needs kind of a break from the rest of the world. He misses her a lot. Used to be kind of torn between being jealous of her and being jealous of Ola, because they’re both goddamn catches and they know it, but nobody needs to know about that, obviously. Pretty much just settles these days on platonically wedging himself in there because he loves his friends and also feelings are exhausting. ] 

[ Sindre sees Sigurd as a father figure of sorts, as it’s probably the easiest way to explain their relationship - eventually as a big brother, but by now, the dad jokes have run for long enough that it’s the default association. That said, it’s only a label; the basis of it, in the end, is that Sigurd is someone Sindre looks up to, always have, considers a rolemodel, and desperately hopes he isn’t disappointing. Sigurd’s approval means so much to him, few people could break his spirit quicker with a harsh word; fortunately, Sindre also trusts that any criticism from him would be meant to help him grow, rather than beat him down. There’s arguably no one out there Sidre has quite as much respect for. ] 

[Sindre automatically ducks his head down as Ola reaches up, humming a little as he straightens back up and looks at the colourful streamers.] Eh, det e ikke ordentlig 17. mai om det ikke vises på dæ etterpå. [He shrugs pleasantly, pocketing his hands.] Du da? My liv?
