It’s a truth universally acknowledged that books with the movie tie-in cover are inferior to the original design. We’ve even talked here at Book Riot about how those movie tie-in covers are among the only things you should be embarrassed to be reading.

Maybe it’s a change in the season or maybe it’s because of this long-held, fervently-believed and justified mentality, but movie tie-in covers are becoming less terrible. Some, might even say, are downright excellent.

Public libraries are often an undervalued, yet invaluable, resource. We take it for granted that down the street, we can enter a portal to worlds near and far. Libraries are a resource for learners, a sanctuary for the weary, and a gateway for young adventurers.

With library funding increasingly under fire, it is more important than ever that the public starts taking an active role in supporting their local library. Supporting doesn’t have to mean donating money or supplies – it can be as simple as requesting a book or attending an event hosted by the library.

Earlier this year, author and librarian Rebecca Donnelly (@_becca_donnelly) shared seventeen ways the general public can support their local libraries. Ranging from simply getting a library card to joining the Board, there is something on this list for everyone.

Pansexuality, for readers unfamiliar, is the sexual attraction to anyone, regardless of sexual or gender identity. This, unlike bisexuality, expands the possible attraction of the person who identifies as pan to any person, regardless of their gender identity, gender fluidity, agender identity, or trans identity. It’s a label that high profile people are beginning to use and attach to themselves, and for teens, Amandla Stenberg might be the person with whom they associate pansexuality. Their identity has, without doubt, been a huge step for representation and further discussion about what it means and what it might look and feel like.

But it’s not on Amandla alone. Thanks to YA, we’re seeing more pansexuality not only shown on the page, but we’re hearing and reading characters who use the term, who explain the term, and for whom it’s a natural part of who they are.

My first post for Book Riot was about getting married in a library, and in honour of National Library Week I wanted to revisit that day and share more details about our bookish wedding. Because you see, it wasn’t just that we got married in a library – the entire wedding was library themed.
