"Astragal" by Albertine Sarrazin I loved every moment of this autobiographical book from Albertine Sarrazin. This plot of a young fugitive is heightened by illuminating and expressive prose. Sentences such as the following put a smile on my face every time "But, Embarrassed both by my unusual situation - dropped in immense pyjamas into the middle of their night - and by my unfamiliarity with children, I smiled as best I could, saying good morning as though they were grown ups, Miss who must be seven and Sir who was all of five, good morning." Certain times throughout the book I had to remind myself I was not reading something by Patti Smith, which is close to my favourite feeling when reading a book. Recommended for those who love Patti's Smith, Jean Genet or Sylvia Plath
