Where Words Fail, Music Speaks

Nick sighed, a smile crossing his lips when he knew what was bothering his boyfriend. “Jeffie...” He whispered, reaching over to brush the hair off Jeff’s forehead. “Why would you think you need to be nervous about that? It’s like you said, we’re both clean, we’ve been tested and I’m not planning on being with anyone else either. So if that’s something you want to try, I’m okay with it.” Nick explained with a small nod. If he was honest, this was something he’d been thinking about too. They’d been together over a year now and he trusted Jeff more than anyone, so it only seemed like trying this was a step that was coming. Nick made eye contact with his boyfriend, his eyes grazing over his face to ensure that the other man wasn’t still nervous about what he’d asked for. Just to give another layer of assurance, Nick leaned forward to press a kiss to Jeff’s lips and whispered out a soft “I love you”. 

Nick laughed lightly and accepted the kiss, a warm feeling spreading through his chest. He reached down to stop Jeff’s hand when he felt it touching his skin, afraid he’d come too soon if that touch went further. Nick cocked his head in confusion and concern as he watched his boyfriend’s expression change in an instant. “What’s wrong babe? You know that you can tell me anything. You never have to censor your thoughts with me.” He spoke softly, moving to lay next to Jeff to put them at the same level while they spoke rather than Nick hovering over him.

Nick released the spot and let out another huff of a laugh. “Good” He whispered as he leaned back up to press a kiss to Jeff’s lips and scooting down on the bed to undo the button on his boyfriend’s pants and pulling them down slowly. Once the pants were successfully off and discarded onto the floor, Nick leaned over to their bedside table to pull out the bottle of lube and a condom and setting them down on the bed next to them before moving to remove his own pants and tossing them onto the floor with Jeff’s. 

Nick moaned quietly at his boyfriend’s words and touch, it had been way too long and his mind was getting away from him more and more with each passing moment. “I need you too.” He agreed with a husky laugh and starting to trail kisses across Jeff’s face and down his neck as he spoke. “I would say that you’re a DILF but I guess we’re going to have to change it to DIGF because I wouldn’t just like to fuck you, I’m going to.” Nick teased playfully before sucking down on the spot that he knows drives his partner crazy every time. 

Nick grinned as he pulled the cotton fabric over his boyfriend’s head before accepting the kiss hungrily. Once they’d reached the edge of the bed, he placed his hands firmly against Jeff’s chest again and gave him a light shove backwards onto the mattress. Nick reached back to pull off his own shirt before climbing over to straddle his boyfriend. It had been ages since they’ve had the time or energy to do this and Nick was feeling like a desperate, horny teenager rather than the man with a job and a family that he actually was. 

Nick laughed quietly as he allowed Jeff to pull him along. “Oh, hold on.” He whispered, stepping to turn on Felicity’s soothing noises machine before continuing to follow his boyfriend out of the nursery. “That should buy us at least another ten.” Nick insisted, putting a hand on Jeff’s chest to push him towards their bedroom and using the other to quietly close the door to their daughter’s bedroom. The moment the door was closed Nick began pulling at the hem of his boyfriend’s shirt, too excited to wait any longer. 

Nick took a deep breath before carefully getting up, crossing the room, pressing a kiss to Felicity’s forehead, and carefully placing her in her crib. He held his breath for a moment as he moved to step away, hoping desperately that she wouldn’t wake up. He crossed back to where Jeff was sitting and held out a hand to help him up. “I was thinking the other fun part... as fun as video games are, I might have missed you too.” He agreed, biting his bottom lip playfully. 

Nick rolled his eyes and rocked the baby in his arms gently, he didn’t believe one bit of it. Sure, Felicity was growing a lot but he also knew that he’d been letting himself go since she arrived. He hadn’t stuck to his usual exercise routine in favor of coming straight home to be with the family and neither of them had been eating the best since they rarely had the time or the energy to cook anymore. Jeff quickly pulled him from his daze with the simple tone of his voice. Nick laughed lightly at his boyfriend’s list “Oh yeah, what if I say I don’t want to clean and skip straight to the fun part?” He asked trying to stop his laughing in an effort to not wake the baby with his movement. 

“She will eventually but I’d rather not talk about it none the less.” He pointed out in a straight forward, just the facts tone as he snuggled the sleeping baby closer to his chest. “I’m sorry that I’m heavy and made your legs fall asleep.” Nick pouted a little bit and leaned his head back to press a kiss to Jeff’s cheek. “Oh yeah? and what are you planning to do with me for the rest of the night?” He asked suggestively, honestly curious as to what his boyfriend may have in store. Their personal life had definitely taken a back burner since becoming dads but now that the baby was sleeping through the night in her own room, they had a little more freedom than when she was in a pack ‘n play in their bedroom. 

Nick’s eyes widened a little for a moment before looking down at the baby in his arms. “I’d rather not think about her having to lose us and that’s not going to be happening for a long time anyways..” It was an inevitable thing about having parents but his anxiety about the things of the world hurting her were made worse knowing that he wouldn’t always be around to protect her. “True, your legs would probably fall asleep before too long.” Nick laughed quietly, wiggling his butt a little against his boyfriend’s lap.

“No, I guess not.” Nick agreed. “She better stay small for a long time but even when she’s not, she’s still going to be our baby...” He pointed out. Nick didn’t think there would ever come a time in her life where he wasn’t going to feel fiercely protective over this little person and every time a thought of the difficult things in life that she would face crossed his mind he couldn’t stand it. “No, can’t we just stay like this forever?” He wined, both because he knew that she would probably stir and fuss if he got up and because he just wanted to soak in every little moment with his family that he possibly could. 

“Yeah, you get pretty happy when I feed you too.” Nick joked lightly before becoming distracted again by the warm, soft weight in his arms. “Gosh she’s getting big...” He commented absently as he pulled the now empty bottle away from her mouth and set it onto the table next to the chair. Nick reached up and gently stroked his now sleeping daughter’s cheek, it was incredible to believe that she was nearly six months old already and before he knew it she’d be crawling and talking. 

Nick shivered lightly when he felt his boyfriend’s breath on his ear. He allowed himself to melt into Jeff’s embrace as much as he could without disturbing Felicity who was now fully engrossed in her bottle. “I don’t know, I think she’s just really happy to be being fed.” Nick suggested with an apprehensive tone. “But I’ve missed her too, I’m going to hate going back to school and not getting to spend all my time with the two of you..” He pointed out reveling in the feeling of his baby in his arms and his boyfriend wrapped around him. “Daddy misses you way too much when he’s at work Lissy.” Nick cooed softly as he stared down at his daughter as she finished up her bottle and her eyelids started to flutter closed.

Nick laughed lightly at his boyfriend’s comment. “Can I?” He asked after a short pause, reaching out for her. Nick really hated how much time he had to spend working away from his little family but he was glad that she was still being raised just by the two of them and not nannies or daycare workers. When he was home he tried to spend as much time with his daughter as he possibly could, in another situation he’d probably feel bad taking time away from Jeff but he got all day with her and there was only so much time that she would stay this little. Nick gently took the baby into his arms before taking her spot in Jeff’s lap and settling back against his chest. “Hi.” He laughed a little before turning his attention back to Felicity and bringing the bottle up to her mouth. 

Felicity, normally, was a really good baby. Like, abnormally good. She didn’t throw many fits or cry just to cry. Usually she fell asleep fairly fast. Tonight, though, she was being fussier than normal. She’d been crying on and off for the past couple of hours, and while she’s stopped now, Jeff could tell that if he didn’t soothe her enough to get her to sleep she might start back up again. It was the excitement of the holidays wearing off, Jeff figured. She’d just been changed, so that wasn’t the issue. But maybe she could use another bottle. Gently, he tucked her closer to his chest as he lifted himself up from the chair they’d both been sitting in. Carefully, he pushed open her door and stood in the doorway. “Nicky…” He called out, still trying to keep his voice soft so she wouldn’t get worked up over any loud noises. “Can you warm up a bottle for her please? I think she’s about ready to go to sleep.”

Already can’t wait for next Christmas.
