Interstellar.

The softness of Nick’s tone and the way he brushed his hair back helped calm him, slightly, but he wasn’t completely convinced he hadn’t made things completely awkward until the other man started talking. “I don’t know, Nicky. It’s just... a big thing. I’ve never done it before, with anyone, and I’ve never wanted to. Not until you. I just don’t want you to feel like this is something you have to do, because I know it sounds scary. But I trust you.” He felt vulnerable in that moment, even if he knew Nick was being receptive to him, and loving like he always was. “And if you didn't -- or don’t trust me like that too yet, that’d be okay. I just.... I only want it if you want it, too.” He reached his hands up to gently cup Nick’s face, letting out a sigh of relief he didn’t know he’d been holding as Nick leaned in to kiss him. “I love you too, so much.“ He said quietly as he reluctantly broke the kiss. “And I just want you --- even if we were covered up in six layers of hazmat suits. Let’s not do that, though, I’m not into squeaky plastic.” 

Suddenly, he felt awkward, almost like he’d ruined the moment when Nick moved to lay beside him. “Nothing’s wrong.” He shook his head, before rolling his head to the side to make eye contact with him. “I’ve just been thinking...” He trailed off, closing his eyes briefly as he sighed. “What if... what if we didn’t use a condom?” It was finally out in the open, but he still felt strange saying it, because it was kind of a big thing to ask of someone. “I mean, I’m clean. And I know you are, too.” He bit down on his lip as he paused. “And I don’t plan on being with anybody else. I just want you. So I thought... maybe we could. But you can say no, if it’s too much.”

Jeff eagerly responded to the kiss as he lifted his hips up to assist Nick in getting rid of them. Thankfully he’d already discarded his shoes and socks earlier so he didn’t have to worry about being a total fumbling mess. Jeff was about to help Nick with his own, when his boyfriend stretched over him to grab their usual supplies. Biting down on his inner cheek, his urgency died down just a bit as a thought occurred to him, one that had been on his mind for a few months now. His hands continued to roam over his boyfriends skin as Nick made work of removing his pants. “You’re so beautiful.” He breathed, without really censoring himself, because usually he knew not to call other men that. But it wasn’t any less true. He stretched his neck up to attach their lips again, one of his hands sliding down and slightly under Nick’s boxers, merely teasing the skin there. But he paused, leaning his head back to look at Nick in both seriousness and lust. The combination made his head foggy, but he wasn’t complaining. “I...um, Nicky. I want to try something. With you. And I don’t know how to say it.”

Jeff let out a moan of his own as Nick began to trail kisses over his skin, turning his head to the side to allow him more access to his neck. “You are...so ridiculous.” His words were fond and breathy at the same time, before he let out another short laugh. His boyfriend’s dorky words still didn’t distract from the fact that Nick was so close, and that he wanted this, like, a lot. Another low moan escaped his lips as Nick sucked down on that spot on his neck, the one Nick knew he liked. His hands continued to run down his body, before resting on Nick’s hips. He turned his head back to place a few stray kisses on Nick’s collarbone, his thumbs rubbing small circles over his hipbones as he did so. “But you’re really lucky I like you enough to let you.”

Jeff let out a breathless sort of laugh when Nick gently shoved him onto the bed, but he was soon distracted by the sight of his boyfriend pulling his own shirt off. They’d only been together a bit over a year, and despite the fact that they were busy with work and Felicity now, Jeff still wanted him as much as he did when they got together. Stretching upwards, he surged their lips together while his hands rested on Nick’s chest. “I need you, Nicky.” He breathed, breaking apart from his lips briefly so he could run his hands down his chest, headed towards the waistline of his pants. “I’ve pretty much been dying here.” His words were as teasing as he could be in that moment, but he really had missed this. It wasn’t like before, when it was just the two of them and they could do what they wanted when they wanted. Things were different now.

Nick laughed quietly as he allowed Jeff to pull him along. “Oh, hold on.” He whispered, stepping to turn on Felicity’s soothing noises machine before continuing to follow his boyfriend out of the nursery. “That should buy us at least another ten.” Nick insisted, putting a hand on Jeff’s chest to push him towards their bedroom and using the other to quietly close the door to their daughter’s bedroom. The moment the door was closed Nick began pulling at the hem of his boyfriend’s shirt, too excited to wait any longer. 

Nick took a deep breath before carefully getting up, crossing the room, pressing a kiss to Felicity’s forehead, and carefully placing her in her crib. He held his breath for a moment as he moved to step away, hoping desperately that she wouldn’t wake up. He crossed back to where Jeff was sitting and held out a hand to help him up. “I was thinking the other fun part… as fun as video games are, I might have missed you too.” He agreed, biting his bottom lip playfully. 

All joking aside, Jeff was just happy to be here with both of them. He got his time with Felicity, considering the fact that he watched her during the day. But he missed having Nick around, too, so he loved times like this. “What, the video game part? I mean, we can, but we’re just going to want to buy it and play all night.” He joked again, before dropping the act. “But if you mean the other fun part, I might be okay with that. Because I might have missed you kind of a lot.”

Jeff just nodded in response, although he was aware of the fact Nick couldn’t see him. It wasn’t something he wanted to talk about, either. “It’s not you, it’s her. It’s all those bottles she’s been chugging back.” He let out a small laugh. “Well, first, I thought we could spend a few minutes cleaning up the living room together.” He spoke in his ear, mimicking the suggestive tone, although the playfulness there was still present. “Then I really wanted to show you...” He turned his head to the side again in order to press a kiss to the side of Nick’s neck. “This new video game I heard about. It looked really cool.” He grinned slightly, knowing full well what Nick was getting at. “And if that doesn’t tire us out... I think we could go back to our room and figure something out.”

"She won’t, I didn’t mean it like that.” He didn’t like thinking about that stuff either, and he really had no reason to. Him and Nick were both young. They still had all the time in the world left with her. “They’ve already been asleep for the last five minutes, but I didn’t want to say anything.” He teased, and leaned down to press a kiss to his shoulder before letting his chin rest atop of it once more. “Besides, it’s only fair she gets you for the next couple of minutes, ‘cause I get you for the rest of the night.”

“Pretty much. She’s doomed now for the rest of her life. But mostly ours, technically.” Jeff had never seen himself being a father before, but now that he had her, he couldn’t imagine how his life would be without her in it. “Unfortunately... I don’t think we can swing that.” Jeff shook his head slowly. “We can stay for a little while longer.” He said softly, knowing Nick probably just missed her. “Until we’re sure she’s really asleep.”

“Can you blame me?” He smiled and glanced down at their baby. She was finally asleep — maybe all she’d wanted was Nick. “Yeah, she is. Everyday she’s growing. It’s kinda scary.” He rest his head against Nick’s gently. “She’ll still be small for a long time, though.” He turned his head slightly to press a small kiss to Nick’s cheek. “She seems happy now. But time for the real test... think we can get her to her crib without waking her up?”

Jeff let himself relax full against Nick’s back, leaning into him as he yawned. “That’s not true. Well, maybe a little. But who wouldn’t be happy about being fed?” He spoke positively. “But I definitely think you’re part of it...We’ve both loved having you here more.” Nick being on Christmas vacation was definitely nice. “You still have time with her before you go back. You don’t have to think about work yet.”

"You can. She’s your baby too, you know.” Jeff smiled softly as Nick reached out for her. Carefully, he transferred Felicity to his arms, and leaned back in the chair he had sat back down in. For a moment, he watched his boyfriend hold their daughter, and his heart felt full. Never in a million years did he think he’d end up here --- with a boyfriend who loved him and a daughter. But somehow, it snuck up on him, and he was happy. He let out a small huff of laughter as Nick sat down on his lap. Careful not to disturb Felicity, Jeff wound his arms around Nick’s middle and rest his chin on his shoulder so he could look down at the now relaxed-looking baby. “Hi.” He whispered back, a goofy half grin still on his face. “She looks happy. I think she missed you.”

Jeff could tell by looking at Felicity that there was nothing wrong with her. If she were in pain or uncomfortable, he’d be able to recognize it. She was just being fussy. Even babies had their off days. He nodded to himself at Nick’s answer and smiled tiredly down at the baby in his arms. Usually Felicity would be asleep by now and Jeff would be doing his own thing and winding down from the day. Not that he was complaining; he didn’t mind spending time with her. But they were up later than usual. He gently nudged one of her tiny hands with his before holding it in his palm. “Daddy’s on his way. He’s gonna bring you some milk.” He spoke quietly to keep her distracted, and before he knew it Nick was walking through the door with the bottle. Jeff smiled gratefully at him. “I think so. She must be getting hangry.” He spoke, mostly directed towards Felicity as his words were still tinged in the baby-talk tone he reserved for her. Looking back up at Nick, he spoke normally, yet still kept it quiet. “Did you want to feed her?”

Already can’t wait for next Christmas.
