Climbing the 4,095m / 13,435 ft Mt Kinabalu. The highest mountain we've ever climbed and it took us 2 days as we slept in one of the huts on the way up before waking up at 1:30am to reach the summit for sunrise! Had the most amazing couple of days trekking around Bako National Park in Sarawak on Borneo. This place is like an island jungle paradise. It's not actually an island but you have to take a small boat through the croc infested tidal river to get there. It's then a surreal rain forest with strange rock formations and teeming with all sorts of weird and wonderful animals. Three species of monkey, including the rare Proboscis (the funny nose ones), lizards, huge spiders, snakes, wild boars, giant ants, poisonous frogs, hermit crabs everywhere and the aforementioned crocs which mean you can't swim at the amazing beaches! We spent the night in a pretty basic cabin...and forgot mosquito nets!
