for  the  longest  time,  she  celebrated  the  russian  mother’s  day  with  her  mother  but  after  her  father  disappeared,  the  two  pulled  apart.  sonya  strained  their  relationship  with  her  desire  to  find  out  what  truly  happened  to  her  father.  even  if  her  relationship  with  her  mother  was  all  but  lost,  sonya  still  managed  to  send  her  cards  up  until  the  day  her  mother  died.  as  for  sonya  celebrating  mother’s  day  as  a  mother  herself,  that  really  never  happened.  even  when  cassie  was  a  child  and  her  and  johnny  were  still  married,  sonya  was  never  around  and  as  the  years  went  on,  the  cards  stopped  being  laid  out  and  the  idea  vanishing.  most  days,  especially  after  her  and  cassie  reconnected,  she  did  regret  not  being  there  for  her,  giving  her  the  attention  that  most  mother’s  should  have  and  it’s  why  she  tries  so  hard  to  make  up  for  lost  time  now.
