So we all know Tsukasa has the ability to grant the wishes of the dead, just like how Hanako can grant wishes for the living.

We’ve seen him grant both Mitsuba’s wish and No. 4’s (albeit in a bit of a twisted version to the wisher’s intentions— but that’s Tsukasa for you 👀), but it’s always after someone else has interfered to draw out their ‘real’ wish (Kou with Mitsuba, and Nene with No. 4)

So my theory: is Tsukasa trying to grant Hanako’s true wish?

I think the clues are in Tsukasa’s interactions with Nene in specific.

It all starts when Natsuhiko slipped Nene the paper crane, which is later to be revealed as one of Tsukasa’s kokujoudai. Through that, Tsukasa is able to see how Hanako interacts with Nene

Tsukasa sees Hanako fearing for Nene’s life and protecting her

And he also sees Hanako kissing Nene, along with her reaction to the kiss

Anyone in Tsukasa’s shoes would easily come to the conclusion that the two were dating, or at the very least they were romantically inclined

Which is exactly what Tsukasa asks Nene when he kidnaps her during the tea party arc— he wants to know if they’re dating and if they’ve kissed. When Nene denies it all, Tsukasa knows she’s lying because he’s seen Hanako kiss her

Then later in that same arc, Tsukasa apparently “leaves Nene to die” by sending her to nowhere… but Natsuhiko is also sent alongside at the same time 👀 Maybe it wasn’t a coincidence, because what does Natsuhiko do while they are together?

He opens all the doors in Nene’s stead— thereby protecting her from all the dangerous things she would’ve encountered if she were alone. Perhaps that was all Tsukasa’s intention? I think he wanted to test to see if Hanako would come and save her (which we all know he does)

It’s suspicious that Tsukasa never goes for Nene again after this, if he really wanted her gone then I don’t think Tsukasa would have any issues doing something more permanent

Yet, in the hell of mirrors, Tsukasa is actually relieved to find Nene is still alive after he saves her and Mitsuba. Why would he care Nene is alive? Why should that matter at all to him?

It matters because Nene needs to be alive to draw out Hanako’s true wish.

Maybe I’m deluding myself, but I truly hope this has been Tsukasa’s goal all along. He wants to grant Hanako’s true wish and he realised he needed Nene in order to accomplish that, which would honestly explain a lot of their interactions in my mind.

Why does he want to grant Hanako’s wish? I want to say it’s because he’s a good brother, but it’s perhaps more to do with the price Hanako will have to pay. I wish we knew what Tsukasa wanted from No.4, it would give us a clearer idea most likely

Also me: shoot I may have been onto something after all 

The way Tsukasa appears out of nowhere and literally starts egging Hanako on, trying to lead him to the conclusion which could solve all his problems… It’s all very convenient. 

And even though he’s surprised Hanako actually knew about the yorishiros being the way to have God grant his wish, Tsukasa is all too happy to join forces to help Hanako without hesitation. It’s like he was planning this all along…

After this chapter I am doubling down on the theory that Tsukasa’s goal has been to draw out Hanako’s true wish all along. For what purpose has yet to be seen, because at this point we still don’t know what happened to No. 4 and what Tsukasa wanted from her. However, we do know that Tsukasa has a habit of twisting the wishes he grants to suit his needs (rip op Mitsuba), so I wonder if Tsukasa is going along with this because he gets something out of this? Perhaps he simply wants all the yorishiros to be destroyed so supernaturals can be however they want in the near shore?

Or will he demand payment from Hanako if his wish is granted by god? Because technically Tsukasa is helping Hanako’s wish come true by joining forces… 

I hope not and Tsukasa is actually a good brother despite everything, but we can never call it with this rat boi :’’)
