another good thing about Mushishi- positive representation of scientists/academic people. Im SOOO sick of the evil scientist trope when most scientists are relatively harmless or are really working hard to improve the world. Ginko and other characters are most definitely very academically oriented and curious, but use their knowledge for good. Very refreshing

Ginko be that one friend who sends you 10 pictures of some bugs and a cat and then leaves you on read for 6 months

just thinking about a Nui and Ginko mushishi pair. of them just waking in looking like the same person with their cigarette and white hair, but not being related at all and inadvertently creeping everyone out before helping them, then laughing about it later in the forest, and Nui watching Ginko grow up and him having a kind of mother or mentor figure in his life, and both of them not feeling like they have to be alone after the loss of their families and Nui not disintegrating…😭
