This is, sadly, not a new phenomenon. "The Jews masterminded the Holocaust" has been a fringe belief for at least a couple decades; there's several variants, but they all agree that it was a conspiracy by the global Jewish elite to sacrifice some amount(they usually deny the actual figures but for some reason still say that some level of killings did take place) of their own people to somehow gain power. I say "somehow" because all the explanations I've seen were so nonsensical that I've forgotten them for the same reasons I forget the vague, half-formed thoughts I have right before I fall asleep.

So not reblogging the post that prompted this, but I find it interesting that OP thinks that wanting a boy “to carry on the family name” is “grossly misogynistic and dehumanizing,” while wanting a girl because it would be fun to dress her up in pretty pink clothes is totally innocent. Because I would say that both of those reasons are coming from mildly misogynistic foundations, the former of which is being exaggerated by OP and the latter of which is getting ignored by OP

I don’t see how wanting to continue the family name is even mildly misogynistic other than a common interest or investment in your family tree, may be vain. Wanting a girl for pretty dresses may also be vain but I also doubt it comes from a genuine hate for women. I’m rly tired of Christians flippantly using the word misogynist as if we don’t practice a religion that doesn’t allow women to be clergy because Christ made it so. Misogyny is a strong word and I would doubt we’d call our religion misogynist as many ppl do.
