1 : Trinket Box

Sometimes, if I’m out somewhere and see a tiny knickknack or a pretty rock that reminds me of my f/o, I pick it up to add to my trinket box.

For this craft, you’ll need

- A small box, like a jewelry box

- Some paint, pens, or any medium that will stick to the material of the box you’re using

Then, decorate the box in anyway you’d like. Here, I painted it and drew my f/o in pen. I keep stuff in here that reminds me of my f/o, like little doodles, written song lyrics, and loads of teeny keepsakes.

2 : Recipes

If you love to cook or bake, this is for you!! On occasion I’ll see a dessert on Pinterest or irl and just think to myself, “omg my f/o would love that,” so, I’ll make it. Or, maybe your f/o has a canonical favorite food you could make! It’s so fun and gratifying to cook, and cooking for my f/o makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. :) plus, you get a yummy snack in the end

Bonus !! Write down the recipe on a little card and keep it in your trinket box.

3 : Letters

Write your f/o a letter! I’ve seen this recommended on similar posts before, but I cannot recommend it enough. Writing a letter to your f/o is a great way to talk to them directly. Personally, it makes me feel very close to my f/o. Also, they’re fun to reread after a while hehe. I like to write them out by hand and address them like you would a typical letter, but you could always type it out in your notes app. :)

If you’re unsure what to write in your letter, here’s some ideas:

- Tell your f/o about places you’d like to travel with them

- Write about what a perfect day would be like with your f/o

- Just write about how your day was! I find that this really helps me feel better after a bad day

4 : Playlist + Booklet

Making a playlist for your f/o is fun, but to take it a step further, you should try making a CD booklet! In case you don’t know, a CD booklet is the little book that comes with a CD, which usually has album-related art and the track list + lyrics.

For this craft, I like to:

- Make a playlist of about 15-ish songs

- Burn it onto a CD (this is extra tho hehe)

- Make a little square booklet by folding paper and stapling it together

- Dedicate a page to each song in the playlist and write why I chose it/why it reminds me of my f/o :3

- Put it all together in a CD case w/ the mix :)

5 : Your F/O’s Interests !

This activity is my personal favorite. Nothing makes me feel closer to my f/o than learning about their favorite things.

Personally, I’m learning piano on an old keyboard I picked up from a garage sale since keyboards are important to my f/o. I’ve also been watching zombie movies… this doesn’t have to be about picking up a new skill, it’s just about getting to know your f/o better. I find this activity to be the most rewarding out of all the others, and it makes my bond with my f/o even stronger.

- INCORRECT QUOTES!! they are so corny but also SO fun. I use this website.

- re(watch/play/listen/read/consume) your f/o’s source

- recreate your f/o in a life sim like Tomodachi Life or the Sims

- make a moodboard or stimboard of/for your f/o

- if you haven’t already, make a Pinterest board dedicated to your f/o

- look up f/o imagines :3

- make accessories related to your f/o! soda cap pins, diy patches, kandi bracelets, and keychains are just some ideas

- make a side blog dedicated to your ship (that is if you don’t already have one haha)

— curate folders and boards of f/o and/or your yumeship: for Pinterest, you can create boards for both your f/o and your yumeship individually. what I do is create sections within my yumeship board, dividing things such as “pose reference”, “writing prompts”, “funny chat snippets”, etc. you have so much freedom and organisation if you do that. and if you have art of your f/o and s/i or oc, you can create drive folders to keep track of references, whether you’re an artist yourself or if you’d like to commission others. references really help to remember things and get stuff done accurately. this is a very simple, beginner type suggestion I’d give someone who recently started yumeshipping.

— create or buy things that remind you of your f/o: no, I do not mean merch when I say this (technically, what I mean by that is I am not referring to “marketable items that are either official or created by fans”). if you fancy jewellery, try getting bracelets, like kandi bracelets with your f/o’s color scheme and name, or heart lockets where you can keep a picture of them inside (I will add some examples below, including my own one). if you are unable to make some yourself, commission a local, small business - there are many floating around in Instagram if you feel like taking a look! there are also ones who create keychains with frame acrylics (?) where you can insert pictures of your f/o! the possibilities really are endless.

— keep a box: this somewhat ties with the previous point but if you like jewellery or trinkets or just collection small things in general that remind you of your f/o, I suggest keeping a small box for them, specifically a tin box since those are very durable. the recycling of “Altoid boxes/wallets” has been quite popular, and if you search it up on Pinterest, you can find lots of them where they are decorated and themed after specific characters. I received my own one recently and it has been my favorite thing ever. you can keep it around with you and store things that you may actually really need throughout the day, e.g. you may feel more motivated to take your medication if you place your prescribed medicine inside; the sight of your f/o will make you feel eager to keep the box close by, and imagine the way your f/o will feel proud of you for staying healthy <3

— find your f/o’s fragrance: this one may seem a little specific and maybe not for everybody, just depends on your preference. I’m not specifically implying that you have to go out of your way to buy an expensive perfume or cologne, no, of course not. fragrances can come from different sources, such as flowers. whether your f/o has a scent that’s “canon” or not, you’re always more than free to interpret it. trying to figure out your f/o’s preference in fragrance is fun, but it also matters if YOU would like the smell of it. for example, my f/o has an official fragrance but it has heavy floral tones to it, but heavy floral smells make me feel nauseous. I commissioned a scented candle that has a similar scent to my f/o’s fragrance, just minus the floral parts. so yeah, again, this is not for everyone, but it may be for some people, and that’s completely fine!
