Shipping Unit 919 is unnecessary and a little bit weird considering the emphasis on 'brothers and sisters'

in Silverborn.It would be peak if Jess included a romance between two members of Unit 919 in a future book, but NOT between any of the main trio (Morrigan, Cadence, Hawthorne). Purely for comedic value and bonding scenes.

I think it’s a good thing JT is choosing not to have that much romance with 919. Not every story needs spice.

Using time travel to resolve the plot at the end of Silverborn was a mistake on the author’s part. Time travel is a big can of worms to be opened, and now unless she’s very careful, it’ll create plot holes in the future.

There WILL be an Ezra Squall redemption arc in some form and (even if i still recognise all the bad stuff he did as super bad) his character is so good and he's one of my favourite kids book villains OAT. Also I'd love the series to get more mature as it goes on; I think it needs to grow with its audience and a more teen-aimed version of the books would go SO HARD. I get that's something Jessica Townsend might not be able to do but if she did id be obsessed.

Fandom leans too much on desiring a love story. This is a hero’s journey. Also, people make predictions that are lacking textual evidence and lean more on what they desire to happen, rather than what the clues in the text imply.

Sometimes it seems inconsistent whether or not the world of Nevermoor (specifically the Free State) is supposed to be a fantasy ideal or reflect real-world problems and it can be jarring. Why is this (for example anti-immigration) a thing but this (for example homophobia, as far as we've been shown) isn't? Do we want to cherry-pick what problems are worth reflecting and addressing? Why are some things direct reflections (like the example I gave) but some things are just parallels (like anti-Wunimal racism) when addressing the real equivalent is a possibility? Is that really a good idea?

I want an animated adaptation or nothing.

Kind of a silly one but it’s ridiculous how overpowered Weaving is compared to the other Arts. Veil lets you… create shadows? Inferno lets you… control fire? While Weaving lets you manipulate basically every other kind of physical matter, lets you create it, lets you create living organisms, presumably you could heal with Weaving by creating new blood/bone/flesh, etc. Overpowered as hell. I know the Arts never claimed to be balanced but I think it would work better for the series if Veil and Inferno were more conceptual. That would allow for more applications which could close the power gap and make it more interesting. I hope Jess plans to go that route.

silverborn was a fun time but i do wish it was a bit more interconnected

squall is not a good person, nor is he/should he be a role model to morrigan. yes, i do believe there is more to him than just a crazed mass murderer. however, we as readers only know him as such, and i think the fandom tends to wildly mischaracterize him as a grumpy but kind person who genuinely cares about morrigan out of the goodness of his heart, when rather he explicitly states his motivations for saving her life (boredom, not wanting to be the only wundersmith, window into nevermoor) and teaching her (not wanting her wunder to build up and cause a catastrophe) and both are selfish enough to not warrant the “he’s such a father figure to morrigan!” sorry for going off this is something that has pissed me off for so long 😭

Morrigan shouldn't have all the limelight

I feel like the fandom doesn’t do well with representing and understanding ambiguous relationships. Like, Morrigan and Squall aren’t besties, they’re slowly warming up to each other last we saw. Jupiter might be a bad guardian sometimes, but he also cares deeply. Morrigan refers to Unit 919 as siblings, but she also might have a crush on one of them. It all can coexist. Also, Ezra Squall might serve cunt and be your blorbo, but he’s not innocent. Doesn’t mean he’s evil or uninteresting, just means he’s more complicated than common fandom depictions.

I think that squall and jupiter would be cute together Ezra Squall is actually a tragically survivor and not a villain.

I this Mildmay was extremely forgettable, and (silverborn spoilers) I prefer Jupiter being a father figure over an uncle figure to Morrigan (but I guess that doesn’t really matter they’re family either way <3)

I don't think Morrigan should end up with Cadence. Or Hawthorne. It would ruin the trio dynamic. I also just don't headcanon her to be a lesbian in general, just cuz we don't see that in her thoughts. Frankly she doesn't need a love interest, I think it would be interesting to introduce one, but it's not necessary. Part of me kind of wants to see louis/morrigan or morrigan/jack, but she also doesn't display any interest in guys either. Maybe she's ace, idk.

Not sure if this is a hot take but the Squall (and jupiter) scenes saved silverborn...sorry, the darlings were kind of insufferable at times. They were entertaining, but i felt that the whimsy I knew and loved from the previous nevermoor books was absent. Another hot take i have is that some of unit 919 (like Arch and Mahir) need waaay more fleshing out.

I defiantly think that Jupiter and Rosie were really close, but I think that Jupiter and Bertram have/had a not bad but complicated relationship, it kinda seemed to me that the book was implying that there was a lot of jealousy and competitiveness on Bertrams side (I don't think Jupiter's the jealous type). I think their relationship is very complex. I don't know if this made sense, hopefully it did! :))

A hot take I have is that Meredith used to work for the league of explorers or another similar organization and was in the Wintersea Republic as a spy to gather information to pass on to the Free State. I also think that when Meredith and Corvus were married, Corvus found out about how Meredith came to be in the Republic and started helping her gather more information as he had more a political role than her and had access to details that she probably wouldn’t have. The Republic government figured out that Meredith was a spy and assassinated her and then used childbirth to cover it up. Corvus obviously was distraught to learn about her death and anything related to Meredith or the Republic was strictly a taboo subject around him leading to the mistreatment of my beautiful gorgeous Morrigan 😭. Plus the fact that Morrigan was born on eventide at midnight just made the situation 100 times worse 😔😔 But I think even if she hadn’t been an eventide baby, Corvus would’ve mistreated her anyways… sorry this is very long :(

Idk if this is a hot take but I can’t see Morrigan being in a romantic relationship with anyone in the series or in general, a wundersmith is supposed to live for hundreds of years, chances are she will have to watch all her loved ones die, including a romantic partner. I also kind of view the relationship between wundersmith and Wunder to be quite toxic and generally all consuming, especially for windersmiths, I feel like that by itself wouldn’t leave any room for romance anyway.

Idk if this is hot take but I will share it. People promoting the Nevermoor series always compare it to Harry Potter. They always say "If you liked Harry Potter, you'll like this too" which actually dims the series' own shine rather than highlighting it. I agree that its similar to Harry Potter, but it is truly annoying when people speak about it as if it were a cheap knockoff. Yet, the most frustrating part is that no one speaks up about this.

There's a Ghostly Hour in Courage Square of the Wundersmith massacre that shows up during the Christmas battle.

Morrigan will meet the other Wundersmiths hiding around the Free State that have been born there over the last hundred years since the Courage Square Massacre and since Ezra Squall has been killing all the ones in the Wintersea Republic. Her third(?) found family.

President Wintersea is a construct like the Headmistresses and was created to more fully control the Wundersmiths in response to anxiety from the creation of the Wunimals.

Courage Square has something to do with rebooting the Wundersmith cycle and the accepted history is distorted.

The other wundersmiths are technically still alive, maybe trapped as spirits in the hotel. They can die, which is how we get Morrigan, but are in some kind of stasis. I don’t think they can be retrieved, however.

The entire world is under something like a Hush, which is why nobody really seems to know or question history.

Not quite a prediction but I am so looking forward to/ anticipating a scene where morrigan explains to the wondrous deity's about the courage square massacre and that the previous wondersmiths are dead.I think the two currently unknown Wundrous Arts are 1) the mind-controlling one everyone theorises about (except I think it has more applications, like reading thoughts or re-writing personalities) and 2) something to do with sensing or information-gathering, like Witnesses can do. That makes the most sense to me as Squall has talked about the importance of using the Wundrous reach to sense things (I’m betting that’s secret training for using the Art) and it would be really cute if the last or one of the Arts Morrigan learned was something that connected her to Uncle Jove. Of course, that cheapens the existence of Witnesses somewhat but Wundersmiths do that for all other knacks anyway.

Then perhaps Tempus. I'm not sure whether the Puppeteering Squall did on the rooftop of Deucalion in Book 2 is a Wundrous Art by itself (like Inferno) or just a sub-art from the main Art of Masquerade. But if it's a Wundrous Art by itself, Morrigan is going to get this imprint LAST. She DESPISED it. It doesn't suit her personality and needs. 4) Jack's parents are locked up somewhere in Wintersea,not lost in a random ahh realm. They are probably in a secret prison for people from the Free State... Like a concentration camp or forced labour camp (ex. Gulag),but Wintersea version. 5) Ezra can easily bypass the forces the Free State has employed to guard the Free State,the ONLY thing that keeps him away from Nevermoor, is Nevermoor itself - it's own barriers that were made by the previous Wundersmiths (or whatever they said it was in Book1&2). So, all the defences the Armed Forces make work only against Wintersea. Not Squall.

I believe that someone/something happened at the courage square massacre that led to the wundersmiths dying that squall didn't do, but got blamed for. I don't think he did all of the things he is blamed for. Wundersmith have always been in service to power in Nervemoor and the Wintersea Republic, Ezra Squall and the late 7 other Wundersmiths tried to rebel, Squall survived and fled across the border carrying the spirits of the 7 others, and is now in service (read: servitude) to the Wintersea Republic and will try to use Morrigan to break free again. Squall isn’t the only wundersmith that is still alive (other than mog) Very simply put.Maud evil. Wunsoc is evil. Squall neither is good nor bad.

I theorize that Wundersmith will take on a more significant role in the upcoming books and might even have a redemption arc.

A little out there maybe, but Anah working for Ezra Squall. She is shy and the one that is scared of Morrigan the longest in the beginning, which could be a good cover or a good way to manipulate her. In Hollowpox it is stated that she is very good at crying on command, and a lot of details Jessica Townsend puts in her books are relevant later. Morrigan and Cadence then find her crying, and she tells them about how the wunimals affected by the hollowpox act like animals, which would make Morrigan more willing to take the apprenticeship. The same goes for when Anah tells Morrigan that they are planning on moving some of the wunimals to zoos. Anah is also the one who tells Morrigan how to get to the wunimals. In conclusion, Morrigan might not have taken the apprenticeship if it wasn’t for Anah, and it doesn’t seem totally unrealistic that Squall would use a member of 919 to get to Morrigan. Probably not correct, but I think it’s an interesting theory.

Morrigan is going to have some fall out with the divinities at some point, she avoided questions about other wundersmiths when talking to the kindling. And also no one else knows about the divinities so…

I think Squall is going to help Nevermoor with defeating Wintersea, and that the massacre wasnt his fault.

I’d love to see more of Morrgian, Jupiter and Jack together hanging out as a more ‘official’ family, especially now that Morrigan calls Jupiter Uncle Jove. It’s just the cutest thing everrrr!!! I also hope Morrigan works through the trauma she’s been through more and talks about it with the people around her. Maybe even tell Jack about her parents and her time in Jackalfax as he told her about his parents.
