I will be writing my GCSE exams next year, any tips?
Hi! sorry this is extremely delayed - Similar to any exam, Iโd make sure youโre constantly summarising information after each lesson youโve had at school. This means youโre revising throughout the year and have ready made revision resources. As GCSEs incorporate a wide variety of subjects, check out the website/app quizlet. This allows you to enter keywords and questions into an online flashcard source and formulates games, quizzes and cards specific to your subject area. Iโd also try and get used to exam technique now by practicing past papers. Often its them which is the problem in addition to the content. I can promise your grades will increase dramatically after introducing past paper practice into your revision schedule! Good luck, I hope this helps :)
Hello there. I hope this question doesn't bother you. I am taking O level next year but I realise my chemistry isn't improving. So can give me tips how to do well in chemistry? Thank you:)
Hi! No probs. Personally, I find chemistry quite difficult and it wasnโt my strongest science at secondary level. Despite this, taking it now I realise itโs all down to practice. Try and find the specification for your exam board and work accordingly to that. I tend to make notes from my textbook whilst watching videos about each subject, then I used flashcards to make questions on one side and answers on the other. This summarises the information and means Iโm constantly practicing questions. If I have time, Iโll try and use theย โblurtโ method, where I get a massive piece of paper and write everything I know about that topic in mind-map form, ensuring all the information is obtained from my head. Past papers are also suuuper helpful! (I honestly donโt do enough). If you find the maths side of chemistry more difficult, Iโd also recommend making an equations book. I hope this helps you out a bit, good luck!
Hi, I'm in year 11 at the moment and I have to start thinking about a levels! I want to be a neuroscientist (or just study the brain etc) but i'm unsure of what a levels to choose. can you help give me an idea please?
Hi! Neuroscience is such an amazing option - To keep all UK university courses in Neuroscience open, Iโd definitely take Biology and Chemistry. Surprisingly Chemistry is the A level which opens up most biological/medical sciences at degree level. Iโd also consider Psychology as thereโs good overlap in most units with basic Neuroscience (such as biopsychology and psychopathology). If youโre thinking about psychology at degree level (some unis are very similar to neuroscience), I might think about maths, however for A level Iโd mostly recommend what you enjoy/are good at over anything else as neuroscience grade requirements can be quite demanding. I hope this helps, good luck!ย

hey!! iโm about to choose my a levels and i noticed u take some of the subjects in considering! i just wanted to ask, how hard is chemistry?? bc iโm really interested in human biology (also already considering taking physics/maths/psychology) but it doesnโt seem feasible as a stand-alone science hhhH
Hey! Personally I only really considered chemistry as it's mandatory for a degree in medicine, however when I understand what's going on I do really enjoy it. I take the OCR board for both biology and chemistry. So far the content for biology is a lot more difficult than chemistry as it's waayy more dense in key terms, knowledge etc. I can't speak with much experience but chemistry seems okay in terms of difficulty at the moment. I find the exams a little strange purely because I'm not used to them yet, but I'm sure improvement comes with experience. I have friends in the year above who have got A's in the AS when it wasn't their strongest at GCSE, however I also know people who dropped it halfway through the year or got E's and failed. I think it's all down to hard work and if you're willing to put a lot of time in to effective revision then you are bound to do well with it! Chemistry surprisingly opens up so many more degree options than any other science at a level, I would deffo recommend! Ooo if you're also considering psychology I'd 10/10 support that, I find it so nice to have a slightly different formed science based a level which is still partially related to my other courses! Good luck, I hope this helped !! ๐๐ผ๐ค๐ผโฃ๏ธ
