it can’t just be me who gets really tired of fandoms almost exclusively writing adult characters as an aged down version, right?
Like, I will be looking for fics of characters that are explicitly adults, like in their 30s, and i’ll mainly find like high school AU’s or college AU’s, but they still make the character like 18.
Or, they make the reader concerningly young, under 21, and the character their canon age. A few even where the reader is a minor??? Especially ones with more questionable power dynamics
I wanna read about the characters the way they actually are in the media. I wanna read about characters that are age appropriate for me. Like please, let me have them.
And to preface, I understand why a lot of people do it (aging characters down) and I don’t mind that people are doing it. I just get a little sad when it’s more than 70% of the fics written for the characters.
