What strikes me most of the image is the framing and how the choice of colors truly does make you go “wow”. Such an interesting transformation. Truly was not expecting such a dramatic transformation and choice of color. When night falls, the colors go from sweet and innocent to drastic drama. The dominant colors are purple and green from the restaurant sign, and the orange hue given off by the light on top of the building. The colorful restaurant sign is definitely the star of the image. The colors truly helps the sign catch pedestrian’s attention. The colors also catches the attention of the photo viewer. 

This vanitas still life truly does capture the essence of the original. The lighting in the image is just right. The violin and the pearls on it is what caught my attention. After my attention was caught, inspecting the whole image as a whole was instinct. The more I inspected it, the more satisfied I became with the still life. Life and death is surely expressed and depicted by the objects chosen to be a part of the still life. The violin depicts music, which is thoroughly enjoyed when alive. The roses and their petals indicate that they are dead. There are also some flowers that look as though they have been tended to. Flowers flourish and eventually die if not nourished and/or not taken care of, similar to everyone in the world. There is a little portable mirror, which could showcase how mirrors are used by the living to view our physical flesh, but can also be used to go beyond that; to find who you are. The camera can be used when you are alive to capture moments and memories. The lighting is intelligent in that the source of light is in the image captured. The light is not too dim, nor is it too bright. It does help create the whole mood for the image and its viewers.

The subjects share a similarity: they are both palm trees. They reference each other by an implied line. The way the palms are bent near the top causes them to “point” at one another. Also, the trunks are lines themselves. The further you go up the closer the trunks appear to lean towards one another. This image adds content by the way it was shot. From the base to the tip. It is a vantage point most are not used to seeing. The cloudy skies create a very nice backdrop for the palms.

The monochrome in the image truly does shape the mood. Payphones are not very commonly used in the modern world. If they are, they are used for purposes like these. They act as ancient artifacts; therefore, the grey tone does help that fact. The phone itself creates a shadow on some of the dials, which then acts as an ominous shadow. Overall, this image is spot on.

This image beautifully captivates the idea of double-take. I love how the puddle acts as a mirror. You, as a viewer, are able to see the reflection of some items that are present in the image. The sky is reflected nicely. This is what made me do a double-take. Line and space tend to be the most prevalent elements in the image. Space is represented by the sky and its reflection. Space can represent depth. In this case, the sky looks like it has no limits/boundaries and the sky is what makes viewers do a double-take when it comes to viewing the image. Line is represented by the building on the side. The row of buildings leads the eye down the road, which makes us mentally travel down the image.

This image has some interesting qualities including the way the photo is framed and the usage of everyday items. I love the water droplets on the sides of the glass. It adds texture and emphasis on what is occurring in the image. There is a faint representation of repetition and pattern until the element of line and shapes take over. Every glass may be the same shape, but the illusion of the glasses bending and forming different forms immediately dismisses that fact. The most prevalent element would be shape/form. The water droplets create an emphasis to liquid, which is then showcased through the glasses. The forms created are shapes that can be created underwater. So the droplets do create strong emphasis to that fact.
