Thighs & Existentialist Despair

Now that I’ve put my Lynette thesis in the notes of my last post, I cannot stop thinking about her. About how choosing Lyney as her successor instead of Lynette is Arlecchino trying to break the cycle. About how Clervie should have inherited the House, not because of birth but rather because she would have been a kind and loving mother. About how making Lyney her successor is an attempt to right that wrong. About how Arlecchino taught Lynette how to fight, how to think, and how to protect her brother. About how Arlecchino failed to save Clervie and earned a vision in the process of avenging her while Lynette succeeded at protecting Lyney and earned a vision in the process of saving him. About how Arlecchino envies that Lynette gets to be the assistant, gets to stay in the shadows, gets to speak her mind or not at all. About how Arlecchino and Lynette’s bodies are visibly marked by a genetic inheritance. About how much better Lynette is and always has been at being a Fatus than Lyney and about how everyone knows that Arlecchino plans to betray the Fatui one day to save her children. About how Lynette keeps kittens and Peruere kept spiders. About how much the daughter is like her Father. About how much that must break Arlecchino’s heart and about how glad she must be to have a child who will understand her.

I've heard that a good short story has two storylines and a metaphor. The metaphor is often also in the title. Sketch out a short story that meets these requirements.

This person has more emotional intelligence and healthier skills in navigating relationships than most people

If this was in a book or a movie or a tv show it would get mocked as too ridiculous. Reality really is more absurd than fiction.

Legit surprised that I can still be surprised. There is always more, and it is always more stupid.
