There is something the government CAN do to help. Stopping mass migration policies and effectively controlling the borders is in fact a rather muscular exertion of government power, something you would think big government types would usually cheer on, but they inevitably get very quiet.

For nine movies we followed the Skywalker’s - Shmi, Anakin, Luke, Leia, Ben, and Padme and Han who married into the family. For nine movies it was all about them. We followed these characters and cared about them. They showed us how your blood can influence who you are but it doesn’t have to define you. They showed us the power of family. They showed us the power of unconditional love.

The bloodline began with Shmi who gave birth to the chosen one, Anakin. Her death is what kickstarted Anakin’s turn to the dark side. Anakin brought balance to the force and Padme gave birth to twins who would one day bring peace to the galaxy. Luke struggled with the knowledge that Darth Vader was his father, and then he struggled with the expectations and weight of being the legendary Luke Skywalker. Leia and Han feared their son was too much like his grandfather. Ben was a target his entire life because of his bloodline. This was essentially a soap opera in space centered on this one family.

But then TROS killed them all off. The bloodline can no longer continue.

And to then have someone else take on their name? So… they never really mattered? This family that we’ve followed for nine movies were never the point? Anyone can just claim to be a Skywalker now?

It erases their importance now that anyone can choose to be one.

Like Padme and Han, Rey could have married into the family. But to have her take on the name just because she can isn’t right.

like the disney plots connect to that in various ways (tangled, frozen, bh6, toy story especially)

i think about things like how Xion gets saved, with Sora reaching out “it’s alright you can stop now”

even big larger things like Xehanort’s desire to reset the world to the very beginning as if nothing happened to “fix” it, instead of recovering it from where it currently is

how Xehanort is stopped not by being gang-murdered into smithereens like fans wanted him to be, but by being shown compassion from the only person who loved him

how Kairi even states outright in the beginning that Sora’s journey isn’t about stopping Xehanort, but about helping people who’ve been hurt
