Art programs All of these are opensource Krita This is the one I use, so I have a post on brushes I use already. Meant mostly for illustration but has tools for animation, story-boarding, comic making and more. Drawpile It's a collaborative drawing program/website, but can be used on it's own too. Smoother feel than krita, less options due to the nature of the program. Has tools for animation. Gimp I've never used this one. I think it's better for photo editing. Inkscape I've never used this one. For vector graphics. Scribus I've never used this one. For page layouts. MyPaint I know literally nothing about this one. Krita, Gimp, and Drawpile can all use brushes from this program. ~ Digital Audio Workspaces Audacity Not really a DAW, but an audio editor. Most of it's default effects are destructive, but you can download VSTs for non-destructive ones. Ardour Opensource. If you want it pre-built, it will cost some money. However, if you know how to build software, or have a linux repository that can do it for you, it's free. Reaper Legally speaking, it's not free- it has a free trial and that trial is not for commercial use, but it's not feature limited in any way. You can also download it's fx plugins as VSTs. This is the best one I've used here. Concatenative Vocal Synthesizers I use Openutau, I have used Deepvocal once, to make a cover. All others are currently untested by me, and won't have much information because I don't know much about them (so important notes may be missing). Some require a change in your device's locale (Not to be confused with language) or a locale emulator. OpenUtau Opensource. There are many different versions of Ameya's UTAU, but this is the one I use. It has many quality of life features that others don't, like multiple tracks, phonemizers for easy lyric input, pre-rendering, more languages, nicer UI, and can run other programs inside it. It also still gets updated. If you're new to vocalsynths, a version of this or the original UTAU are your best picks, as they have the most resources due to being the most well-known, and many banks for other programs also have UTAU versions. OpenUtau is easier and nicer, but you may find more guides for the original and the original forces you to learn how to use phonemes, which is something important to learn for both. the original requires a Japanese locale. Deepvocal No longer being updated. More limited tuning-wise than the original UTAU, but it has multiple tracks, and all the "flags" work via curves you draw- but there is a line tool. NIAONiao Archive. Requires a Chinese locale. Vocalsharp Opensource. MikoVoice A software for one character. She does have versions in other software. Renoid This one can be used in your DAWs or your browser. This I did try to test the web version, but was struggling to even use. Sugarcape Archive. For mac devices, idk if it works on other ones. Saltcase Opensource successor of Sugarcape, also archived. Vocalina Archive. Vocalwriter Archive. For MacOS, can do instruments too. Pre-UTAU.
