Meet Fifi Motloung, 20 year old beaut from Mafikeng, South Africa has become quite popular amongst the community over the past year.
At what age did you realize that photography was what you whole-heartedly wanted to pursue?
18 years old. I was in my matric year.
Describe your first photoshoot for us, was it an experience to enjoy, was it difficult, a success, a failure and what it was about?
It was a total success. I didn’t know what I was doing most of the time but, I enjoyed it to the max. I still use some of the pictures till this day; I think they’ll forever stay relevant. I really shot some beautiful shots that day. I don’t even remember planning it, I just grabbed one of my models (who happens to be my little sister) and we drove down to my father’s farm, got dressed quickly, did some two minutes make up and yeah the rest is history
Who is your favourite photographer? Both international and South African
I don’t have a favourite photographer, but I really look up to our South African photographers, like; Thato Mohuba also known as anathablvckartist), Max Mogale and Cedric from everydaypeoplestories. Their shots inspire me in so many ways by taking the South African photography to another level, yeah power to them..
Have you reached a level of artistry yet that included having a muse for your work?
I don’t think I have, and I don’t think I ever will. Because I don’t want to be known for doing some kind of specific work, I want to be versatile, I don’t want to fall under any genre. I WANT TO BE LIMITLESS. So to answer your question, I’ll forever be on an endless journey of reaching that. I’m open to whatever creativity.
Would you say you’re somewhat a fashion photographer or you just capture things that eyes find interesting or worthy enough of your lens’?
As a photographer, I see beauty in everything.
What else are you drawn to apart from photography?
What would be your advice to young creatives in South Africa who are in photography be?
Don’t do it because It’s trending, do it because you love it
Do you possess any other hidden talents?
WOWZA! I can dance, not everyone knows this because I’m a shy girl and stuff. This is why I stick to being behind the camera instead.
What is one thing be it a secret, a quote, or something that you have never told anyone else that you would like our Black African and Beautiful followers to know?
“Everything happens for a reason, only God knows”
