Beyond The Kitchen: A Dreamer’s Guide, 1985

At its peak, The Gobbler was a motel, supper club, and roadside attraction. Built in 1968, it sported futuristic Googie architecture and featured 49 rooms with different shaped waterbeds, round sunken bathtubs, and different colored shag carpet in each themed room. The motel closed in 1992 and reopened as King Arthur’s Inn Motel in 1995. After years of neglect, it became abandoned in 2001 and was used as fire practice for the local fire department. In 2019, an assisted living community was built on its spot. The restaurant was saved and turned into a theater. Located in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin. Source
