Cat's Paw Nebula - At 5,500 light years distance in the constellation of Scorpius, the Cat's Paw Nebula is an emission nebula containing a star forming region with many massive, young stars within. As usual, winter has been challenging to try and take night sky photos! Not only has it been very cloudy, but there have been a lot of windy nights, as was the case on this night. As such, the stars aren't quite as tight and round as I'd like, but I'm still satisfied with how this photo came out. For now! I'll hopefully try it again in the future after I've further improved my skills and equipment. Stargazing at MBO - It was a cold night with a bright moon, but that didn't stop members at Mount Burnett Observatory getting outside and enjoying the winter night sky. This tiny planet panorama shows the observatory's two domes and a close up of one of the smaller dobsonian telescopes.

Trifid Nebula - After a three month break due to bad weather, illness and injury, it was great to get under the stars again last night! This time I tried one of the most popular winter winter targets: Messier 20, the Trifid Nebula. Last night I collaborated with two of my best friends on a fantastic fashion shoot! Elain modelled Lou's design for fashion school. Lou's brief was right in line with my aesthetic and we had a great location with lots of cool backdrops to work with. Centaurus A - One of the brightest galaxies in the sky, Cen A is also the brightest radio source in the night sky. A huge and unusual galaxy it is extremely active in all wavelengths from radio to gamma rays. The distinctive dark dust lane is visible even in a powerful pair of binoculars. At a distance of 10-16 million light years, it is believed to be the result of the merger of two galaxies and now contains a supermassive black hole 55 million times the mass of the sun at its core.This is my second attempt at this object, the first being two years ago. I've never really been alone. But my life is changing now, and for the first time, I'm mostly spending time in my own company. People say that you have to get to know yourself and be kind to yourself. I've always found it much easier to be kind to others and I don't know who I really am by myself. So I'm trying to spend more time doing things I enjoy alone. It was delayed a few times, so it's a little late for the month, but there will be a April one coming as well as soon as I am able to shoot it! This shoot features the Japanese bondage rope art known as “shibari”. This was my first shibari shoot and it was a fascinating experience for all involved! The model is my friend Luci, with whom I have shot before. The rope artist was John, a friend of Luci's. We did a couple of different looks, and this adventurous outdoor suspended look was Luci's request and shot in my backyard!A note about the content of this photo:Shibari is a form of artistic expression that involves both the rope artist and the model. It's an intimate collaboration and involves a great degree of trust. Though this is a form of bondage, this is 100% consensual and the model enjoyed her role in the shoot. Rock Top Group Photo - Today I went exploring the bush with friends and my new 360 camera. There were so many photo opportunities, so you can look forward to seeing more of them in the near future!
