I am doing a durge playthrough (bc ofc I am, idk how you do a normal origin after doing it the first time) and it's my second playthrough overall. I decided to romance gale, astarion was my first, so I felt content doing a friendship route with him since I have seen his romance through.

Tim Downey has charmed me, I'll admit. that's why I picked gale for this run and I was enjoying it up until the act 2 urge scene. I think seeing the way gale interacts with durge just paled in comparison to how astarion interacts with durge. I mean, astarion had me bawling my eyes out every scene and with gale it just doesn't hit like that. I'm probably not alone in this thought pattern but to me it was quite disappointing. even now, in act 3 where durge has their realisation, astarion— who my durge is only on friendship level with— brought me to tears again and gale barely had anything to say despite him "being in love" with my durge. (I mean this is life altering news!! maybe check in with your love at least? who did that for you when you got a certain message back in act 1??)

i know this is most likely due to writing bc astarion and durge's writers overlapped but the difference is so stark to me and I am a bit taken aback by it.
