This season was a gift.

Nora. Her roof. THEIR roof. The full circle. Characters full of kindness. Josh’s lovely, patient, gentle soul. Mental health treated in a raw but precious way. The girls: all of them so unique and well established. Fatou and her quirkiness. The frighteningly accurate representation for children of alcoholics that meant more than I can say. The family love and sisterly support. Therapy is good and useful. The cheeky framing of a version of Even’s MH storyline through the eyes of Nora. The affection and tactile care between friends. The pain making sense and never taken advantage of. The sporadic lesbian rep! The diversity. Female and male friendship. The learning to feel through art and taking. Nora’s NORA hair and bohemian vibes. Dance and movement used as a metaphor for Nora’s escape and way to feel (her legs!). The impact of bullying. Spider-Man and Cell Phone Woman. Parkour and urban exploration as a way to escape and move and get away as taught through Josh. And the hope that things (we!) can be ok even if we don’t know what each day will bring. AND MY GIRL FATOU GETTING HER OWN SEASON NEXT. I honestly have zero criticisms, no moments I would change. I am so deeply grateful for what they did in terms of showing a young person living in those circumstances and to end with that girl understanding her mental health better, seeking help, being open, being loved and feeing able to try to keep feeling and keep going... one of my all time favourite Skam seasons and something I’ll genuinely cherish.
