A book is not a battle, nor is it a conquest. A book is a story, and telling it should be an enjoyable exercise. So the next time you don’t want to write, don’t waste time beating yourself up. Instead, stop and ask yourself why ... Admitting to yourself that there is a problem and you need to go back, rip out the words that aren’t working, and rewrite is far and away the most painful part.

Went back to the cafe, because I was so successful there last time. Dilly-dallied for about an hour. Finally felt inspired, when sirens started going off. Tornado warning? Contemplated what I would do if a tornado came. Continued writing.

I’m going to dance to it anyway.

Sat my butt down in a cafe and wrote for four hours. I even brought snacks, so I couldn't use hunger as an excuse. It worked and I powered through 3K words! I also deleted a scene, so not much progress on the word count.

This is where my word count stands after scrapping most of two chapters. I mapped out this next part, so at least I won't be wandering around in the dark anymore. But while the scenes are in my head, putting them on paper feels like pulling teeth. I've been trying to write one sentence for the past two hours. Time to buck up and be brave.
