Number one: “Peter Tork beat his wife over some dishes”

In July of 1968 Peter answered some questions for Tiger Beat Magazine, where he says he once hit his wife after she threatened to leave him. NOT “over some dishes”. And he didn’t “beat” her either, if you search up the meaning of the word “beat” it states “to strike (a person or an animal) repeatedly and violently” peter did not strike her repeatedly, therefore he did not “beat” her.

It might seem like something small but to accuse someone of being a wife beater (especially over some dishes) when in reality they only hit their wife once and after that they split, is an extremely over exaggerative and bold accusation.

(I’m not defending his behaviour, it’s already horrible enough so I don’t understand why they are trying to over exaggerate it and make it sound worse.)

Number two: “Peter was fired from the bands reunion tour for being a violent alcoholic”

Now the “violent alcoholic” part wasn’t included in demonprince26’s post, but asked where they got the whole “peter was fired from a tour” thing, they responded with this.

And all I have to say to that is that there’s literally no evidence of this ever happening.

It’s never mentioned ANYWHERE he had consumed any alcohol, or that he was “causing problems” during a tour. He was fired from a 2001 tour cause he was out of tune. The tour that their talking about “happened” in the 80’s/90’s, however there is no record of peter being fired from a tour except for the 2001 tour. leading me to think they were either lied to, or they’re just making stuff up.

All in all, demonprince26 shouldn’t accuse such rash things onto a person who isn’t here to even defend themselves, especially saying things that aren’t true or are extremely over exaggerated. Peter was not some 24/7 sunshine boy, but neither was he terrible enough for them to spread rumours about him and cause unnecessary online discourse. They didn’t know Peter OR Mike personally, so they should quit acting like they were there to witness every aspect of their personalities and lashing out on people who just wanna have fun.

This went on for several more replies between Kyle and another user. Again, he makes some pretty big claims in his comments about the guys and others, but he didn't have any sources to back it up, and instead just got increasingly hostile toward the other user and OP

Disliked by most people who knew him.

I don’t like Mike Nesmith — never have liked him, I don’t like him as a man. I have to qualify that now: Me not liking somebody doesn’t mean that they’re bad people — he could do a lot of wonderful things for and to me. Not liking someone to me is a very gut reaction — a very visceral attitude. The first reaction to Mike was one of dislike. I don’t like him, I have never liked him, and I probably will never like him.

Our tastes were much the same, our political beliefs were similar, our ideas of fun, pleasure, our intellectual capacity, our ability to talk to each other — we were very much alike. I have a great respect for Mike — his technical abilities on an instrument and the positions he took were well conceived ideas, always a posture with a motive, never emotional.
