I have recently been listening to a lot of Reddit stories and all those family dramas. Now I think that this drama is so similar to the drama between Zed and Shen.
Shen is a trans man, as well as the heir to his fatherβs huge company. Since childhood he was prepared for this role. How to speak, how to hold his posture, how to behave properly. His father wanted to make him the perfect heir who could run the company with dignity and success. It was not the best upbringing, so Shen is dependent on his fatherβs opinion and is unable to go against his will, even after his fatherβs death.
Usan (Zedβs name in past) when he was around 16 got a job at Kushoβs house. Over time they find common interests with Shen, who because of his fatherβs strictness and training did not interact much with peers, he even studied in an online school, so he has no friends. They become friends, and Shenβs father sees potential in Usan and the fact that he is his sonβs first friend, and takes him under his wing.
Shen and Usan were in a relationship from the time they became teenagers, in secret from everyone, with short kisses in corners. Everything was good, until Usanβs and Kushoβs visions of the company political. Specialy about Jhin, the one manager who makes questionable decisions, but people live in danger. But despite all that Kusho doesn't want to hire him. Usan usually says that they should help others, that they cannot stand aside from what is happening around them, that it is their duty to protect and they cannot stand with folded hands and wait. Shen agreed, but could not go against his father.
They grow up and are were about 20 years old when their relationship becomes complicated. They are full of anger, resentment, passion and fear of how it will end. The point of no return was when during another argument between Usan and Kusho. Kusho and Usan made a deal , Usan can take part of money and Kusho will just disappear, and make it sound like he is dead.
Shen thinks his dad was killed by Usan,he is broken and lost,
That evening Usan came to say goodbye. He wanted to take his things, say goodbye and leave the place that had been their home. And of course he had an argument with Shen again. Usually such things do not end with sex, but Usan knew it was the last time he saw Shen so he allowed this to happen.
No one said it directly that night , but they hoped that after they would both lie embracing and the other would say βsorry, I was wrong, you were right about everything.β But that does not happen, after that night their paths diverge completely.
They were not careful that night. From one side because they did not think due to the emotional moment, and another one is because both were sure that it is impossible since Shen has been on hormones for years.
And Shen finds out about its consequences about a month later. He kept the pregnancy, but did not tell Usan anything.
He named his daughter Akali. While she was little she was like a copy of her father. Obedient, quiet, calm. But the older she gets, the more clearly Shen sees Usanβs character in her. The same desire to act, the same need to do something and protect those who need it. She constantly gets into conflicts, every month she has a fight at school when she stands up for someone. Shen is kinda proud, but believes that conflict should be resolved peacefully and with words, not fists. (He thought every time about Usan, who also sometimes got into fights protecting Shen)
She knows that her second father is Usan, knows that he is the reason why her grandfather died, why Usan argued with Shen, so she already hates him.
Around 18β19 she starts dating a friend from college/university. Kayn is a rebel, bold and absolutely crazy. After half a year of relationship they realized that it doesnβt work well for them and became just apartment roommates and friends
Kayn is the adopted son of Zed. Akali was at their house, talked to her father about her boyfriend and his father, but Shen did not suspect anything, just like Akali herself, because Usan after leaving changed his name, wanting to erase any connection with past live .
After breaking up with Akali, Kayn started dating Rhaast, a biker, just as much of a rebel as Kayn.
also almost everyone confuses Kayn and Akali for siblings, they are too same in behavior and way they act
Everything is revealed when one day Akali was with Kayn at Zedβs, she was helping to fix Kaynβs car, but without much success so Shen had to go pick her up.
Zed opens the door and this is the most awkward, strange and incomprehensible moment in their lives. They look at each other not knowing what to say. They simply could not believe what they see, because what are the chances?
After that Zed cannot stop thinking about the whole situation and the fact that Shen has a child. And especially about the fact that the dates match. Akali is exactly as old as the time since Zed left. He writes to Shen with this question (he asked Kayn to ask Akali for Shenβs number). And Shen confirms everything.
After that real drama begins, because Akali and Kayn find out that they are siblings (which is worse against the background that they were dating), Akali rethinks everything, she just found out that the man she hated full life(her second dad) and a man she called "the best dad even,I wish my could be more like you " is the same person . Kayn worries that he will be loved less now . And Zed and Shen, they are now forced to communicate and Zed understand that past feelings flare up again. he never stop loving Shen
And here the main part of the story begins.
Rhaast has his own family problems, he has a huge family where there are constant conflicts (in this AU the relationships of Darkin and hosts are more about romantic relationships). There is an older brother Aatrox who cannot build long-term relationships and constantly argues and ends up without an apartment because his partners kick him out. Naafiri is a sister who gave up on relationships and lives in a huge apartment with dogs and often lets Aatrox stay with her (Aatrox hates it because he sleeps on a small couch while all the dogs sleep on the beds). Varus has distanced himself from the family and is in a happy polyamorous relationship. Zaahen is the eldest and his partner died and no one knows where he is now.
