This started off as just a quick sketch and an in-joke. When I was in Seattle last weekend visiting a dear friend, we stopped by a peculiar antique store called "Ballyhoo Curiosity Shop" (you should go if ever in the area). Inside were many interesting curios, but one of my favorite keepsakes was a May 1957 edition of Playboy. I bought it for references and because I have a soft spot for retro advertising. Sure enough, there was a gloriously campy cigarette ad on the back! I knew I had to redraw it. My friend did a quick sketch later that night of nebunny and an anthro version of himself in the ad, so I decided to finish it fully.

welcome to MUTTZ, a new animation project just getting off the ground and lead by yours truly, nebbisoda.

(yes i know it says 'mutt city' but that's not going to be the name)

i've been long inspired by many works featuring anthropomorphic characters in an urban environment like Zootopia, A Kitty Bobo Show, and Fritz the Cat, and feel there is untapped potential for focusing on adult anthro characters in this setting.

so enter the world of muttz, where everyone is a dog/cat hybrid called a mutt. Some muttz wag their tail, some hate getting wet, others love to bark and some like to hiss. everyone is a little different, but that's what makes living together so interesting

getting back into steven universe recently. it's always been a huge comfort show for me, and i'm getting all weepy and nostalgic for my bygone highschool days of anticipating every new episode and lore drop. these two especially will always be important to me.
