So after I manage to free my hand with a promise of staying, I take off my shoes, leave them by the bed. Remove my jacket, take off my tie. Don’t think anything of it when I unbuckle my belt, don’t think of how I’ve done this in his presence uncountable times, but this time I pull the belt out of the loops and keep my pants on. . I round the bed because well – he sleeps on the left and I sleep on the right. I know that. Although sometimes we just slept all over each other, no coordination or direction. Still. We have sides.

But I don’t get under the covers with him. No, that I can’t do. So I get on top of them, moving closer to him. I curl my arm securely around his middle and pull him to me, our bodies pressing together. His hand instantly moves to rest over mine, and he exhales softly. “You’re warm.”

I rest my head on the pillow that we share, and I close my eyes, breathe in the scent of his hair. “Bet you anything that you’re warmer.”

He hums in agreement and pushes into my embrace. Goes lax. And at that second, the feeling of being home is overwhelming.

“Sleep.”

And he does. Probably for the first time in days.

What do you hope people get out of your music? Ryan: I guess the goal was to create something we hadn’t heard before. One of the the goals was that if people heard our songs we could introduce them to a lot of other styles – like classical and jazz, stuff like that. Brendon: We’re tricking kids into some stuff that they enjoy listening to, but probably wouldn’t choose to listen to the styles we draw from – like jazz. That’s pretty cool that we can show them some other cool stuff.

No girlfriends at home you’re missing? Brendon: I do! I have a girlfriend at home. The other guys do, well, except for Ryan, ladies! He’s still searching.

Let’s say you have to leave the band today and you have to join another band. Which one are you gonna join? Ryan: I’d try to get a spot in The Gifted. Brendon: Oh man. I would honestly love to go in a hip hop group because I have never seen inside that so I’d love to know what that’s like. Oh man, like with Jay Z or Kanye!
