itās so frustrating (and heartbreaking) to see so many writers going on indefinite hiatus / deleting their blogs because they are not motivated to write anymore. worst of all: people would always be like āno why are you leaving we donāt want you to do so :(ā but they were nowhere to be seen in our notifications beforehand. the lack of support on this platform is a huge issue and itās a shame that content consumers donāt get the hint when writers have been waving the red flag for months. please support creators by rebbloging their posts, interact with them by leaving a few tags, a comment or an ask! if youāre too shy then hit that anon button and youāre good to go. show them that their works matter and you enjoy their blog, because when the decision to leave is made, itās already too late.
Normally I'm not one to add my two cents to a post but I think this has inadvertently stumbled into exactly the reason why readers aren't getting engagement: because their audiences are not communities and don't see themselves as such, but 'content consumers'.
Writers and artists create because they are compelled to, but they share because they want to engage with the community. When we approach their works with the emptiness of the term 'content' that so characterizes the commercial media landscape, we devalue the work and intentions of writers and artists.
Yes, comment! Yes, reblog! Yes, support! Because as a reader and audience member you are a vital part of the community! I think there is this sense that you are only valued if you share your creative efforts, and only then can your voice be appreciated, and that simply not true! Audience, we love and appreciate you because we share for you! You are a part of the community too!
Here here!
This. I stopped writing three comics on here from lack of engagement. To kill yourself over some work youāre really excited to share and not get one word of engagement is a staggering blow to creators. If you like something someone does, say it. It might be the one thing that keeps a work you admire from guttering out completely.
OK, this isnāt only Nancy Drew related, but Iād love it if you guys would go over to @thefandomgamesfive and sign up for the RP thing. Itās basically āmultifandom Hunger Games,ā and the Nancy Drew fandom has the most characters up for play.
OK, so since Mystery of the Seven Keys came out today, I'm putting up a reminder that this blog is still a thing and open to requests.
(The only thing is, I'm probably not going to be able to start it until at least this weekend, so only headcanons for prior games will get posted until... let's say May 18th.)

Random Nancy Drew head cannons I have
Nancy's news feed is fucked because Google cannot tell where she is so she'll get a news article about a German student given award or weather warnings in New Zealand
She has dozens of travel sized lotion and hand sanitizer, but full sized toothpaste
She secretly has a burn book about all the suspects before she knows who the culprit is, kind of like her case scrapbook on her desk
She has a list of all the places she wants to go to, but for whatever reason, she keeps getting thwarted (ex. Flight delayed/canceled)
Shes secretly is super fashionable at home but doesn't really care when she's on case because she has to š get š stuff š doneš
Has girl boss stickers next to her pug owner stickers

āSure, his place was eclectic but hardly grotesque or even that far out of the ordinary, until of course you took a more careful look and realizedāhey why are all these candles unused? Why no clocks, none on the walls, not even on the corner of a dresser? And whatās with these strange, pale books or the fact that thereās hardly a bulb in the whole apartment, not even one in the refrigerator? Well, of course, that was Zampanoās greatest ironic gestureā¦ā (?/5)

I got bored and decided to start from scratch and make a new version of this blog. Submissions on this blog are still closed, and Iāll open submissions on the new version once I get my favorites of my own submissions reposted over there.
