Carry On Wayward Daughter

“it’s nice to formally meet you,” he smiled. “i’m not good at the whole hollywood party thing,” he admitted. 

       “now it’s a party.” celine chuckled. she was trying to make sure everyone had a great time but was fighting a losing battle if half of her attendees did not want to be here. she understood that not everyone took to this scene as easily as she did but she did appreciate people’s efforts when they were made.” the intoxicated woman put her hands on the other’s shoulders before ushering her towards the bar.

          ❝  WHY ?  THESE  PARTIES  are  the  perfect opportunity to  branch out  of  behavior  like  that.  widen  your  circles          all  that.   ❞    jina’s  attention  was  half  on  the  other  and  half  on  her  phone,  but  she  was  maintaining  the  conversation  as  best  as   she  could.  which,  wasn’t  too  hard  on  her  part.  she  spent  most  of  her  conversations  with  people  she  hardly  knew  distracted  by  her  phone.   ❝   standing  by  the  food  table  the  entire  time  would  seem  boring  to  me.  i  wouldn’t  bother  coming  if  that  was  the  case.   ❞

“I find it really sweet when people write letters to me and send gitts, some people are really just so lovely.” Luci smiled sweetly, before the expression turned sour. “Though, on the opposite end of that, some people are kinda disgusting. I got a letter from a creepy perv declaring his love for me and then offering to pay me $2000 dollars for a pair of my used undewear…”

lucy nodded, “oh god, same on both counts. i had a guy send me a photo of my head photoshopped onto some questionable screenshots...” she shook her head, “as nice as it is to get fanmail, there’s some you just wish you could unsee forever.”

       mariëlla  nodded  with  a  smile.  “ all  right.  having  one-on-one  conversations  then ?  that’s  fine  and  understandable.  there  are  a  lot  of  guests  here ,  aren’t  they ?  i  don’t  know  how  celine  does  it. ”  she  murmured  the  last  statement  mainly  to  herself. ”  the  woman  sighed  but  smiled.  “ i  have ,  and  for  a  change  too. ”  mariëlla  couldn’t  help  but  chuckle.  “ have  you  been  enjoying  your  evening  though ? ”

she laughed and nodded, “yeah. i mean, i guess since i was a kid, i’ve always enjoyed more watching things than being right in the middle of them. which might sound odd considering my profession, but i guess i just find watching people fascinating. i am enjoying myself though, as i said i’ve gotten to talk to quite a few people who’ve come and sat with me.”

“god, if that ain’t the most innocent-minded thing i’ve ever heard,” ricky quipped with a smirk. “and here i was using this quiet corner for the purpose of scoping out the room for how many of my exes are in it. you’re makin’ me look like a sleaze.” he joked, before narrowing his brow at the girl. “why’d you come to the party if you wanted to hide?”

“oh, i was only joking,” she said with a shrug, “i don’t literally mean hiding. i’m just watching the party from over here. i’m quite enjoying just people watching. i mean, there are some cool people here, y’know.” she shrugged. she had really only been joking about hiding, because really, if she was hiding, she certainly wouldn’t be chatting casually or sitting in plain sight the way she was.

natalia scoffed, “you must be really bad at hide and seek then. are you playing with people who don’t have eyes? because you are very obviously sitting right here.” natalia shook her head and sighed, “i’m sorry. that sounded way funnier in my head. but i guess my point is, i could see you sitting here from like 30 feet away, so you need some help. but don’t worry, natalia holland, life coach who also specializes in hide and seek training is at your service,” she states proudly with a big smile on her face. 

“i am. thanks.” emily smiled back at the other girl. she suddenly didn’t feel like the youngest in the room anymore. and even if that was still true, it was comforting nonetheless. “are you having a good time?”

she nodded her head, “i am, yeah. i’ve gotten to meet heaps of people,” she said with a smile. “i’m not so much a dancer, but i’ve been meeting people all night, which is really cool. what about you?”

“i like good music,” he said with shrug. “you enjoying the shindig so far?” he asked, tugging at his messy blonde hair.

       “ parties  are  meant  to  socialize ,  not  for  you  to  hide  away. ”  she  said  only  assuming  why  she  didn't  want  to  be  out  there ,  enjoying  what  could  potentially  be  a  fun ,  entertaining  night.  mariëlla  knew  it  wasn't  for  everyone  but  she  believed  some  should  just  put  in  the  effort ;  it  wouldn't  do  any  harm.  she sighed ,  “ all  right  but  just  for  a  little  while.  my  feet  are  killin’  me. ”

lucy shrugged, “i am socialising,” she said with a smile, “i’ve had someone sitting with me all night. i’m just socialising with only one or so people at a time.” she said with a smile, “have you been having a fun evening?” she asked.

a laugh escaped his lips, “well, i’m not usually one to encourage underage drinkin’ but it’s a party and i definitely think it’d help you loosen up. i’m not tellin’ you to get drunk but i think one drink could help.” he replied. “unless that’s not your think then pretend i didn’t say anythin’.” jordan laughed and rolled his eyes, “it can’t be that bad.”

she laughed, looking up at him, “listen, it’s definitely not my thing, but i guess i could try,” she told him with a smile. “but if i end up embarrassing myself, you have to promise you’ll keep me away from cameras,” she joked with him brightly.

         “don’t take this the wrong way but i think you need to chill out more…” she was slightly intoxicated and maybe she was overstepping but she didn’t like to see the young woman so worried. “it’s a party, enjoy yourself. don’t get yourself worked up.” celine just happened to be the very opposite; if there was dancing, she was bound to be in the middle of it. although she had grown up considerably, she wasn’t above getting messy and she never would be. “can i get you anything? a drink? maybe shots? how about i put on a good tune? any requests?” celine had banned her discography but she was sure it was going to come up at some point, anyway and she’d either be too drunk to care or ready to perform.

The blonde laughed softly, playing with her plectrum charm on her necklace, the plectrum she’d used on her first ever world tour, it brought her luck in her anxious moments. “There’s probably a few of us introverts hiding around, it’s a big place afterall” she giggled. “I don’t even think I’d know where to start.”

she smiled brightly up at the other woman, glad for her understanding. lucy was enjoying the party, she really was. even just for the sake of people watching. but she wasn’t one for getting entirely into things, regardless. she was a watcher by nature. she liked watching things happen. “well, it’s really nice to meet you,” she said brightly, “even if we’re kinda meeting on the sidelines.” she joked.

     “ i came, i saw, i had a blast ——- and then got this KILLER headache, ” allie concludes dramatically, bringing her cup to her lips to take a large gulp of now tepid water. “how ‘bout you? time of your life kinda night? they’re saying the stuff from these few hours are gunna run the tabloids for WEEKS. ”

the brunette let out a little laugh. “not really. unless the tabloids are interested in a photo of me sitting in the corner eating something, i don’t think they’re going to get too much from me,” she admitted with a warm smile, “i’m not all that much of a party animal. maybe i should try.” she joked.

      allie had pushed into this particular spot hoping for a brief moment of silence ( all the while hoping she wasn’t going to WALK INTO anyone doing something tabloid worthy ) and what she gets is almost as good. “ hell yeah — ” she says with a sigh, one hand sweeping the burgundy lace of her skirt aside as she sits, liquid sloshing in the cup in her other hand ( it’s just WATER from the bathroom sink, actually — there’s been a headache throbbing at the base of her skull for the past hour ).

“the host has done a pretty amazin’ job, right? i don’t know if i could host a party this cool, if i’m bein’ honest. i think i’d be a little worried i wouldn’t be able to please anyone.” he admitted and laughed at what she said next. “being here is out of your comfortable zone?”

she nodded a quick agreement, smiling at the man, “oh yeah, the party is incredible. my inherent awkwardness is definitely no fault of the host of the party at all. i’m just... awkward.” she admitted with a little smile. “being out in public is,” she joked.
