triple A.

vivienne manages a smile at the other’s next words. it’s been a while since she’s had someone be so pleasant after she had potentially insulted them (however mildly or unintentionally). at the mention of the dress, viv nods enthusiastically, “i’m glad you had the chance. it’s gorgeous.” there’s a pause as the pink-haired girl takes a bite out of her dessert, trying to stall a bit as she thinks of a way to phrase her answer. “not… not often, no. i mean, parties are nice, but…” but what? she couldn’t handle the crowd? the noise? the obligation to mingle? all of the above? “i just don’t get out much, i suppose. …do you? come to parties often, i mean. or get out much. i guess the question applies both ways.”

     there seem to be a lot of those here tonight, hiding in the corners and hovering around the buffet table like sad little ghosts --- not quite party poopers but not quite the LIFE of the party either ; not that allie would ever really call herself the LIFE of the party, though she hopes she has her moments. “ to each their own, ” she shrugs, reaches for a small lemon square with a cut strawberry on top, “ maybe not so much parties, though they’re definitely fun --- more just going out with like, my boyfriend and our friends. things like this can make you feel a little lost sometimes, y’know? ”  

lucy offered a warm and understanding smile. she was glad to know she wasn’t the only one. some people seemed to think this party behaviour was necessary for their jobs. for being a ‘famous person’. but lucy just wanted to sing and act. this other part, this just came with the territory for her. “how are you doing?” she asked kindly.

     “ i came, i saw, i had a blast ------- and then got this KILLER headache, ” allie concludes dramatically, bringing her cup to her lips to take a large gulp of now tepid water. “how ‘bout you? time of your life kinda night? they’re saying the stuff from these few hours are gunna run the tabloids for WEEKS. ”

contrary to popular belief…? vivienne tilts her head to one side before realising the implications of her own words, and her hand shoots up to cover her mouth in shock. “oh! i didn’t mean it like — i wasn’t trying to insinuate anything, i didn’t know you were a model,” viv tries, though she’s not sure if that’s better; now it sounds a bit like she’s mocking the other’s fame, and she mentally kicks herself for doing so. “i mean, i don’t know many people here at all, so…” struggling for words but finding none, eventually she settles on her usual, “i’m very sorry.” she ducks her head in mild shame, trying to offer a lopsided, tentative smile as she actually takes a look at the other girl. “you look really nice, though. if you weren’t already a model i bet there’d be people telling you to become one,” she mutters, awkwardly hiccuping over her own words in her nervousness.

     allie waves a dismissive hand towards the other, a small laugh that gets partially lost in the thud of music pounding through the building dropping from cherry lips. “ don’t worry about it --- too hard to tell model from actress from singer nowadays: guess we ALL follow the same rules. besides--- ” she casts her gaze around at the others milling loudly about, faces she half-knows but not many that know HER, “ ---i’ve learned a long time ago not to take offense to MUCH. you don’t get very far in life if you do. thanks, though. been DYING to dig this dress out for something, even if it is just a very very glorified pool party... so you don’t come to these very often, then? ”

“honestly, i was just trying to hide,” the small brunette starlet said with a smile. “i know it sounds stupid, but i just don’t get parties. i’ve been doing this since i was little. finding the quietest part of the party and hiding in it. wanna sit with me?” she offered sweetly.

parties, though wonderful occasions that many do — and by all rights should — enjoy, often terrify vivienne. even so, she’d been convinced to attend, and while it was a lovely event by all standards, she still couldn’t settle that feeling of unease in her belly. or maybe she was just hungry — a thought she entertained as she drifted toward a buffet table, reaching out to sample one of the dessert pastries. there, she notices another partygoer; as good an opportunity as any to make conversation. “so,” she begins. there we go, nice and easy… until viv realises she doesn’t actually have anything to say. turning over the pastry in her hand as an attempt to stall, she finally smiles, voice a little too excited as she asks, “you eat food too, huh?”

     parties themselves have always left allie with MIXED FEELINGS --- but like anything, they were helped or hurt by the people in attendance and the experience itself was whatever you tried to make it. they were w good excuse for her to dress a little more sexy than what would normally FLY anyway ( and if it there was something allie loved more than herself and her boyfriend, it was a good sexy two-piece dress that left much of her midrift bare ). HEY --- what was the point of having abs if you didn’t SHOW THEM OFF? blue eyes turn from surveying the long table of food toward the sound of a voice, drink in one hand as one perfectly manicured brow raises in questioning amusement --- also evident in her voice. “ YEAH ---- contrary to popular belief about models, i guess. ”
