“What do you mean by panicked?” Noah questioned. “What did you say?”

She grinned against his lips, a soft, content sigh escaping her. “I’ll have to remember that.”

“I dunno, these are all my friends.” She shrugged, still not quite used to someone wanting to do the same things she wanted, to spend time with her. “I just want to make sure.” Alura smiled brightly, leaning in to give him a small kiss. “Wanna know a secret?”

"Please, this is way better than those lame hospital fundraiser parties that I take you to,” Noah replied. Noah kissed her back gently before answering her question. “Sure, what’s the secret?”

“I wish I could pretend better, then,” Marj said. “Your girlfriend seems smart, then. How did you poison yourself?”

“Uh, an incident with Wolfsbane when we were trying to make the Wolfsbane potion secretly. I touched the Wolfsbane with my bare hands and it poisoned me.”

Alura was in a good mood - a better mood than she’d been in in weeks. She loved the new year, especially now that they had their own life, away from her father. She sauntered off, leaning into Noah when she found him. “Are you having fun? Do you want to leave? We can leave if you’re not having fun.”

Noah widened his eyes a little. “What? Oh, no, I am having fun. Why wouldn’t I be having fun?”

“Yeah, probably worth it.” Marj shrugged. “I just wish I could do normal things like that without worrying.”

Noah shrugged. “No one’s normal, everyone just pretends to be,” he replied. “If it makes you feel better my girlfriend makes me wear gloves anytime I make a potion because I accidentally poisoned myself in seventh year.”

“I don’t know, I think it might be fun if I went with you.” She smiled, tilting her head as she thought about it. “Not that I’m getting invited anymore, but I like it when you dress up.”

Noah gave her a gentle kiss. “I’d dress up for you any day.”

Amata couldn’t help but sigh in relief as the wound began to heal, though her eyebrows were still furrowed. “I forgot I had a cookie in my pocket.” Amata admitted unwittingly. “The creatures tend to think if you offer them anything, like food, that its a trap. They usually react accordingly.”

Noah raised his eyebrows. “You carry cookies in your pocket?”

“I have a feeling Oscar is gonna make  me go ice skating with him.” Marj frowned. “I love him, but ice skating is a lot. I’m not good at it. Last time I tried, I ended up at St. Mungo’s with a giant gash on my forehead. And I can’t risk any more head trauma since I had that accident.”

“Why don’t you try wearing a helmet?” Noah replied. “I mean it’ll give you the chance to go without risking head injury. I mean, you’d look like a little kid, but it’s worth it, right?”
