“99″ COVER: MOB CHOIR SEARCH [PLEASE REBLOG]
Hey, Mob Psycho 100 fans!!
My co-writer Steve and I are currently trying to put together a TV size cover of the OP song “99” and we want YOU to be a part of it!
We are looking for people to do the background counting and the raucous pre-chorus shouts (“Mob! Mob! What do you want?” etc.).
Originally, we thought about just multi-tracking our own vocals for those lines but where’s the fun in that? The more voices, the more variety. So we thought we’d assemble our own “Mob choir” via the internet!

(It sounds really dead and lackluster since I recorded this while sick, it’s only here for timing purposes, they will all be re-recorded for the final)
PLEASE, PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS VERSION AND NOT THE ORIGINAL WHEN RECORDING YOUR PART SINCE IT HAS A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT TEMPO. If you record listening to the original you’re going to end up way off and I would prefer not to have to chase people down for re-recording.
You can send in recordings of yourself doing either or both of the following parts.

EDIT: so an anon brought up the fact that the counting after the chorus might actually be “81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87-8-9″ instead of “81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88″ and that’s actually more likely. I may or may not have made a mistake. ANYHOW, feel free to record it either way, since it’s supposed to have a chaotic effect and not be completely uniform anyway.
Keep your voice as even and rhythmic as possible
PRE-CHORUS SHOUTS (the actual Mob choir part!)

Make sure to stay reasonably in time with our clip for this but don’t stress being 100% (heh) exact, since the beauty of this is having a huge chaotic crowd yelling this. Feel free to send in multiple copies in different voices, let loose doing weird ones if you’d like!
OPTIONAL: chorus backing vocals/harmonies
For those who want to show off their music chops, feel free to try adding background unisons or harmonies to the chorus! Lyrics below.

Note: this is entirely up to whether or not it fits our desired arrangement so there is a large chance they will not be used in the final product. If you do this you NEED to send in a good quality recording so it’s preferable to try if you have access to recording equipment.
IN GENERAL:
Make sure your recording is of reasonable sound quality. Most people don’t have recording equipment, and that’s fine. But we don’t want something to sound so tinny and scratchy that the actual numbers or words are indistinguishable. Using a smartphone is definitely okay and preferable to using a laptop mic (unless you have a very new laptop). The optional possible background vocals/harmonies are an exception and need to be high quality.
Label your files [your handle name]_COUNTING and [your handle name]_PRECHORUS to correspond with the parts you recorded. (if you attempted chorus backing vocals label them [your handle name]_CHORUSBGV)
Email them to [email protected] with the subject name MOB CHOIR and write in the email the name or handle you would like to be credited with when we post the final product.

i love that whole “teru/mob does something remotely romantic and the other is a blushy mess” but consider: terumob is 100% That Couple that isn’t a couple
like teru probably holds mob’s hand and drapes himself over mob’s legs when they have study groups with shou and Ritsu and shou and ritsu are like “i can’t believe they’re not dating™” but mob and teru just think it’s totally natural?
sometimes when teru leaves really late he kisses mob on the cheek and is like “bye kageyama-kun sleep well” and mob is like “you too hanazawa, get home safe” and ritsu is watching with disbelief. he’s about to smash his head in
or mob sits in teru’s lap and talks about tsubomi and teru plays with his hair and listens to him and offers advice but then he’ll say something like “i’m kind of jealous you like tsubomi so much” and pouts and mob assures him that he still really really likes teru too
or everyone they meet assumes they’re a couple and both of them are just totally confused. mob talks to ritsu about it later: “why would they think we were a couple?”
ritsu crushes the can he’s drinking from with dead eyes. “i have absolutely no idea, nii-san.”

Mob Psycho 100 character appreciation: Hanazawa Teruki
[Warning: spoilers ahead]
If you imagine a combination of a typical villain’s egoism, an ally’s resourcefulness, and a friend’s dedication, perhaps something of Teruki can be evoked. It, however, is also misleading, because in spite of being fairly complex, his is a calculated narrative that allows one at a time. Luckily, good things come to those who see more than what meets the eyes.
In some ways, Teruki is always Teruki: a boy with supernatural talent but does not overlook hard work, who is blessed with an unfailing sense of self-possession that once crossed the line into egomania. Half of the above description was only true back when he didn’t know how to apply his gifts, or rather, misapplied it, which was due not to his nature but to the fact that he lived alone and therefore didn’t receive any guidance on how to manage himself. In the beginning, he wrapped narcissism around him like a child does his security blanket.
Criticising ONE’s art as much as you want, but you can’t deny that he portrays expressions extremely well. Here, for example, is the trance of a man who has become a slave of his self-delusion whilst speaking condescendingly. No style and no reaching for effect, just a pair of cockily raised eyebrows.
It’d be a mistake to short-change Teruki as an amoral, obnoxious and loutish boy, making it as though the Teruki and Mob confrontation is a fated instance of righting the wrong, so that in the grand scheme of things, Teruki’s self-reinvention owes a lot more to Mob than it actually does. There is a phenomenon called the devil effect, probably better known as the reverse halo effect, in which a positive trait, most commonly attractive, is unconsciously linked to a good amount of other positive traits, despite a lack of confirmatory evidence. In the devil effects, one negative trait is hurriedly married to another, thus as a whole they are subsumed into a broader but undiverse personality construct. My point is that it’s possible to make Teruki put Mob in a pedestal, but it’s also lazy. All ship jokes asides, Teruki has never been undefined to the point that he constantly needs Mob for gratification. Nor his pronounced self-righteousness a quotation of someone else’ value. Without his own thinking, he’d have never adjusted and resigned to the fate of a commoner.
That being said, there’s a few remarkable things about him I haven’t seen anyone touch on. First, despite his chutzpah, he doesn’t have a hypocritical bone in his body. Those two aren’t exactly mutually exclusive, but given that teenagers love being seen as special snowflakes yet don’t have the courage to express it, it’s easy to give him the facade of humble bragging or coy modesty. Teruki doesn’t humble-brag; quite the contrary, he earnest-brags, because he has every reason to take pride in his sweet fruits of labour.
The true nature of Teruki is the integrity which his actions spring and his desire to sort things out stems from. Before meeting Mob, he drew a very clear line between commoners and stars; after meeting Mob, that line still exists, but now between commoners and commoners who think they are stars. The names have been changed, the cast can be anybody; still, what remains are two things: his self-righteous streak, which he unabashedly wears on his sleeve, and his mental hierarchy, which always put his enemies beneath him. For Teruki, the opportunity to re-create the battle scene where he learned his momentous lesson restores him to his best self. Hence, he takes it upon himself to teach his naive enemies (in classic Teruki’s style) the luxury of getting right the thing they haven’t: Make no mistake - you and I occupy the same identity of commoners.
Secondly, Teruki possess, surprisingly, a get-on-with-it temperament: he lost his fight with Mob, acknowledged it, and moved on. Within him there’s always a habit of of taking things in stride, from dealing with his fangirls to having his ego take a bit of a beating. When you have time to think about it, it’s really incredible that a 14-year-old, after being stripped off of his ambition (no pun intended), has the maturity and composure to take a look at his messed life and honour somebody who humiliated him. No wonder Touchirou’s villainy role is pale in comparison: Teruki succeeds where Touchirou fails. Whilst it is sympathetic to see a teenager get carried away by his own self-delusion as part of finding his place in the world, the same can’t be said for someone who enters the phase as an adult, when he is expected to know better, as Shou has aptly pointed out:
(Good job kiddo! You have done more than your fair share of self-parenting)
Finally, let’s not forget these gems:
Note his strait face and casually asked questions - typical of ONE’s droll comedy. By not afraid of dirtying his hands, Teruki skirts around the morally grey area and refuses to admit some sharp boundaries. That’s how little he has changed since he has met Mob.
The result of this consistency is that he lacks the spontaneous and wacky elements, so you either like him or you don’t. If you like him you’ll see that he was able to conquer the biggest enemy: his self. And with a tendency for spotting irony (like mine), you’ll see him as the protagonist the moment he fancies himself as a commoner.
After all, I’m the main character in this world.
