Kill It If You Have To

The dreams were maddening, making Ben evade sleep. They were more and more frequent the longer he spent around Hayla, the newest recruit of the Resistance. She seemed so familiar but she didn’t seem to have the same reaction so Ben figured he must have been mistaking her for someone else. After that last awkward interaction where she didn’t recognize him in the same way he’d been avoiding her as best he could.

“I have heard the Poe is a sweet talker.” Hayla couldn’t help but to chuckle as she continued to sip her drink. “I’m just glad there isn’t some kind of weird initiation for being the newbie here. Unless there is and I’m gonna get ambushed one of these days.” 

He looked for Hayla, hoping that she’d made it somehow. When he found her he was running before anything else. Not even stopping for her to get a word out before his kissed her, hard, as if he would drift away if he didn’t.

Dopheld wasn’t sure what was going on. People kept staring at him. Alpha’s scents were extra potent,most smelled unappetizing. He wasn’t really in the mood to deal with this today. He just wanted to get these last reports done so he could go to bed. He’d been up for the last three days helping General Hux catch up after a sudden influx of resistance sightings and other reports came in. He couldn’t even remember if he’d eaten at this point and the small omega was almost certain that he had the flu. He felt like he was burning up and he still had three more reports to deliver. He sighs and presses the button on Lord Ren’s door when he finally makes it down to the man’s quarters to deliver the report. He rests his head on the cold durasteel trim, enjoying the small relief it gave him on his overheated skin.

After finishing her toast and taking a sip of her caff, Hayla looked over at Finn. “So what brought you here?” She asked curiously. “And you can take that either way. Here to sit at the table with me or here to the Resistance. Whatever you feel comfortable with.” Hayla said with a small shrug. 

He looked for Hayla, hoping that she’d made it somehow. When he found her he was running before anything else. Not even stopping for her to get a word out before his kissed her, hard, as if he would drift away if he didn’t.

“Don’t over do it, okay?” Hayla said as she noticed Ben getting out of bed as she walked back to the kitchen to grab him a cup of tea.

Zoning out for a moment as she sipped on her caff, it took Hayla a moment to realize Finn had sat across from her. Putting down the mug and offering a warm smile, Hayla said a simple hey as she grabbed a piece of toast and took a bite. 

He looked for Hayla, hoping that she’d made it somehow. When he found her he was running before anything else. Not even stopping for her to get a word out before his kissed her, hard, as if he would drift away if he didn’t.

“Better than I have.” She smiled. “Do you want some tea?” 

“..I can’t Mattie, it feels wrong, and it wouldn’t be real anyway…I’ve forgotten what a real smile feels like.” Ben said, just barely above a whisper.

The following morning had him rising early so he bandages could be changed. He spent the time before breakfast reading the books Rey brought him but also taking care of some documents from his kingdom. Leia and Han had been giving Ben more and more of their duties so he would be ready to rule independently from them when they stepped down.

“...good thing I got that generator,” Kylo sighed and out on his rain coat, it was located in an out building so he’d have to walk through the rain to get to it.

Slowly getting out of bed and getting ready for the day, Hayla began to make her way to the mess hall for her morning coffee and toast.

He sat across from Poe, his life long friend, who was nice enough to grab him a tray of food as well. Poe attracted a lot of attention and Ben did as well so they took turns getting breakfast for the other if they were both on base at the same time.When Hayla walked in Ben tried not to stare, only looking up then looking back at his holo.

Grabbing the cup that was handed to her, Hayla made her way to the drink station and poured herself a simple cup of black caff, one sugar, and a splash of milk. Bringing the cup to her nose, Hayla sighed as the smell of the slightly burnt aroma of the coffee bean filled her senses. Taking a small sip and grabbing the tray of food, Hayla turned around to try and find a seat to sit at.

Scurrying over to the table, Hayla chose the seat where her back was to Ben in hopes that he wouldn’t see her. She definitely wouldn’t be able to face him today if they decided to strike up a conversation. Between the awkward encounter prior and the realistic feeling dream she had last night, it would be certain Hayla would be blushing like a mad woman.
