The script wasn’t great, the focus on the movie was completely off track. They marketed the movie as something it absolutely wasn’t.

They could have done so much more with the fire and ash people, and they completely pushed them to the side. Varangs character could have been the perfect catalyst for Quaritchs character growth and help add another layer of intricacy in the story.

Instead they ran with “spider is my son” and Quaritch let himself get walked all over by general ardemore which is out of character for him completely.

They irreversibly tainted Jake’s character by making him get on board with the idea to kill spider.

They kept pushing the cat and mouse bs with Jake and Quaritch. They introduced a route of alliance between them that could also have been another great catalyst for character growth with Quaritch and completely did nothing with it.

They set up loak to be the main focus of this movie in the last movie and completely pushed him to the side. They breezed over the regrowth of his bond with Jake.

So many unnecessary deaths of important characters that were completely glazed over.

It felt lazy, like a montage, and a filler episode.
